  1. Have the Twins hit double digits yet this year? This could be the night!
  2. I just noticed the Twins Hope Week sign in right center. Did that week pass already and they just didn't take the sign down?
  3. I'm wondering if the Cubs win the World Series, will the Twins be the new Cubs and develop a cult like following?
  4. While I can appreciate the marketing effort, the economics still don't add up. You can get tix on stubhub for roughly at 50 percent discount. Giving a season ticket holder a 20 percent discount may lessen the amount of money that he/she loses, but that's not exactly a selling point. Want me to buy season tickets? Offer to buy them back at the halfway point of the season if the team is under .400 winning percentage.
  5. What's Liriano doing these days?
  6. One additional benny. Pretty tough to raise ticket prices or any other prices after a year like this. Now whether you want to pay the current price to go is another subject. Once could even make the case that they should drop ticket prices if they want to get people in to the park.
  7. He doesn't sound Minnesota nice at all.
  8. "I'm travelin' down that lonesome road Feel like I'm dragging a heavy load Yeah, I've tried to turn my head away Feel about the same most every day You know what I'm talking about, baby" Seems pretty appropriate for Molly's situation. And it just so happens that Molly Hatchet is from Florida.
  9. Come to think of it, Molly needs to adopt Flirtin' with Disaster as a managerial walkup song.
  10. Some Molly Hatchet playing Flirtin' with Disaster in the background.
  11. I just returned from the great state of Florida. Good thing we aren't playing down there or we would be paddling between bases. No point in calling off a game for rain between these two teams...mud would make for a great enhancement to the game.
  12. The sad thing is that I used to watch every night that I could on FSN. It rarely even occurs to me to look to see if they are on now. I check the box scores the next day...oh, they lost again...read the recap...yawn.
  13. Yeah, Stubhub is already discounted a bunch and that will only get worse. To your point, there is an incremental affect to that. When a person can't get rid of the tickets or has to take a steep loss on those tickets, they don't tend to make the same mistake the next year.
  14. Agreed. So, the question then becomes whether the young guys can muster up more wins than the current roster? Given the track record, I'm not confident.
  15. They may not be losing money, but how do you invest in your team if you're revenue continues to decrease?
  16. As much as we would all like to think that it can't get worse than this season, it just might. Consider this. Would you pay for a season ticket next year? What about if you were a successful business? Would you spring for a suite to entertain clients? Sure, it's a write off...but is it worth it? Are your potential clients going to be "entertained"? Soooo...let's assume that the season ticket sales go down next year and you are the Pohlads. This is a business. This is your business. Do you cut expenses? Do you try to find ways to grow revenue? Sure you do. But let's recognize that the latter is going to be tougher to do. Cutting expenses is the easier route. As is the case with most businesses, the payroll makes up the majority of the expenses and while cutting a few front office positions might save a little, the majority of the payroll is tied up in the players. Soooo...the payroll goes down next year. Free agent signings? Forget about it. Now, one could argue that we paid too much for the production that we've gotten from a lot of these guys anyway and I would have a tough time disagreeing. That said, "you get what you pay for" doesn't always apply when you pay top dollar, but it often applies when you go cheap. You are the Pohlads and you have a business to run. The quality of your product has declined. Some of your customers are unwilling to pay the prices for your product. This isn't just a baseball team in a tailspin. This is a business in a tailspin. The bottom might not be in sight.
  17. When Sano comes back, why should it be an automatic that we put him back in right field? Never mind trading Plouffe or the market for him. If the Twins have both on the roster, what's the harm in putting Sano at 3rd and putting Plouffe in right? Is Plouffe gonna be worse than Sano in right? Maybe, but who cares? We stink. Is Sano gonna be worse than Plouffe at 3rd? Maybe, but who cares? We stink. Long term, Plouffe isn't in our plans. Sano at 3rd is in the plans. So, why not put the future into motion now? Why management keeps trotting Sano out to right field as if that is is future position on the team is beyond comprehension.
  18. Dozier opened up bad on that one.
  19. I don't mean to jinx the guy, but Nolasco has kept the ball down in the zone since the first inning.
  20. Plouffe looking bad...c'mon man...pull out of the tailspin.
  21. Porsche...there is no substitute.
  22. Watching again tonight in FL. Second pitch was a terrible pitch and the announcers picked up on it. The guy popped it up, but it should have left the park. If Nolasco doesn't get it down, there will be lots of hard hit pitches leaving the yard.
  23. My 12 year old just watched that pitch from Hughes and said "meatball".
