  1. and that is why Molly gets paid the big bucks and we get to watch.
  2. Baseball is a game where a tenth of a second is an eternity. The difference between being safe and being out can be a measured in a hundreth of a second. Getting the winning run in could be the difference between Nunez and Sano.
  3. I take full responsibility for these 6 losses. I haven't been engaged enough to watch a game yet, but that ends today!....sort of. My son has baseball practice this evening and I might have to leave before it's over. Once again, my bad. I don't see it as the Twins being off to an 0-6 start. Rather, I am off to an 0-6 start.
  4. -- 2-21 with RISP -- 6 BB and 35 K's Ouch!
  5. Nothing like heading to the world champions to fire off a winning streak....we need some competition!
  6. I think there's a lot of positives to take from the two games so far...and some negatives. Positives - Gibson's sinker was working pretty well yesterday. He had a lot of weak balls hit, one with eyes and a blooper that should have been caught that led to the first run. - Buxton at bats looks like he has a plan rather than going up there flailing. - Park doesn't look overmatched and appears to be a really smart player. - We've given up 7 runs in 2 competitive games...compare that to last year. Negatives - Walks. When you don't have strikeout pitchers, free passes hurt more. - Right field...no shocker there. - Rosario's lack of a plan at the plate. He could be really, really good if he had a plan other than hack at anything close. - RISP 1-12. Ouch! Too early to call a trend.
  7. Skip: What's our record, Larry? Larry: Eight and sixteen. Skip: Eight... and sixteen. How'd we ever win eight? Larry: It's a miracle. Skip: It's a miracle. This... is a simple game. You throw the ball. You hit the ball. You catch the ball. ....words to live by.
  8. I blame this loss on me. I turned off the TV after the 2nd rain delay and had to go to my kids baseball practice. I wasn't there for my team. It's all connected! I could have willed this team to a win and I failed miserably. It won't happen again. Let's move on to the next game. I promise to be better.
  9. I dunno. Sometimes rockets get caught and sometimes bloopers fall. It usually evens out over the course of the year and, in the end, if the bloopers were caught and the rockets weren't, the ERA would probably be the same.
  10. 0-0 after 2...may the best bullpen win.
  11. Diuretics are often used as masking agents for PEDs and to get flush them out of the system faster. It may also be that he was trying to use a diuretic to simply lose weight quickly before a weigh in. Papi should worry about Papi...kind of like Cano is just worried about Cano.
  12. I don't want to pee on anyone's parade here, but I posted on another link a quote in SI from a rival scout and as I remember it went something like this: "If Nolasco is in the Twins rotation, then their rotation stinks" That's pretty brutal. It's also interesting that I see people wanting Plouffe traded and Sano moved to 3rd. I get that, but the market for 3rd basemen wasn't high to begin with this offseason and Plouffe is not viewed outside of the Twins organization the way he is viewed by the Twins. Outside of the Twins, he seems to be viewed as just OK. Not an upgrade from what teams already have. So, trading him isn't going to get much back. I really thought they would move him to left field, put Sano at 3rd, and move Rosario to right, but I understand the reasons for not doing that too.
  13. An awful lot of arm chair GM's giving their generous advice out for freeeeeee!
  14. A quote from SI concerning the Twins. This was written by a "rival scout". "If Ricky Nolasco is in their rotation, then their rotation stinks". Ouch!
  15. Calm down everybody. It's the media. What do they need to do? Sell stories. "All is well in Twinsland" doesn't sell. "Everyone's happy" doesn't sell. "Sano's work ethic stinks" sells. Whether it's true or not isn't relevant. Does it sell? That's what matters to the media.
  16. Starting Pitchers:Ervin Santana, Kyle Gibson, Phil Hughes, Tommy Milone, Ricky Nolasco Relief Pitchers:Glen Perkins, Kevin Jepsen, Trevor May, Casey Fien, Fernando Abad, Ryan Pressly, Michael Tonkin Catchers: Kurt Suzuki, John Ryan Murphy Infielders: Joe Mauer, Byung Ho Park, Brian Dozier, Eduardo Escobar, Trevor Plouffe, Eduardo Nunez Outfielders: Eddie Rosario, Miguel Sano, Byron Buxton, Oswaldo Arcia Utility:Danny Santana It's a lock.
  17. Really this boils down to my lack of trust in the depth of the bullpen. That's sad to say, but true. Also, it might depend on how much the bullpen has been used in the previous games. Lot's of factors come into play....does my wife have dinner plans? If mama ain't happy...
  18. Not necessarily stealing, but the threat of the steal can mess with a pitchers head. Also, if Sano or one of the others puts one off the wall or hits a gapper, Santana can motor whereas Mauer isn't much of a 1st to home threat.
  19. Option E3 - shock the world, have Sano lay down a bunt and get fired that night.
  20. Hadn't thought of the E2 option...that's why you get paid the big bucks Molly!
  21. I'm a gambling man.
  22. I love that option...but there's the gamble. Will Sano, Plouffe, or Park put one out?
  23. One more thing - the opposing catcher is throwing out 25 percent of runners.
  24. OK, you are the manager of the Minnesota Twins. It's the bottom of the 8th and the score is tied. Here is your current lineup: Dozier - 2B Mauer - 1B Sano - RF Plouffe - 3B Park - DH Rosario - LF Esco - SS Murphy - C Buxton - CF Mauer leads off the bottom of the eighth with a single to left. Your bench consists of: Suzuki Nunez Santana Arcia Do you - A - Stand pat with Mauer on 1st base. B - Bring in Santana to run for Mauer knowing that you can move him to right for defense and bring Park in to play 1st base (but risk losing your DH if it goes to extra innings). Obviously, you can bat Arcia and Nunez for the pitcher (DH in Mauers spot) if you go to extra innings. C - Bring in Santana to run for Mauer knowing that you can move him to right for defense and bring Sano in to play 3rd and move Plouffe to 1st and keep your DH right where he is. D - Wait to see if Mauer makes it into scoring position before deciding what to do. E - None of the above (please detail). I'll go B, but I'm a gambling man. P.S. Your pitchers all run like Mauer.
  25. Maestro making his case to make the team.
