  1. What I think gets interesting is if Texas and Houston end up in a tie for the division AND the Twins end up with the same record. Texas and Houston would then have to play 1 game for the division title????? and then the loser play the Twins???? I dunno. One game at a time boys! The only game that matters is tonight's game.
  2. We are rooting for one team to sweep.
  3. You would hope so. I think we want either one to go at least 5-2 in those remaining games. We don't want a 4-3 split.
  4. Or how about the Yankees going about 7-13 down the stretch and miss the playoffs altogether? I'd take that.
  5. Rather than Texas stumbling, how about Houston falling on their face? I could see Houston missing the playoffs.
  6. I can't help watching the White Sox catcher throw the ball back to the pitcher and not think of the car commercial with the dad and the kid playing catch and the kid is throwing the ball all wrong and then they show the dad throwing it the same way.
  7. Yech! Ugliest game we have played in a long time. Was there a keg in the dugout tonight?
  8. Next year, I see Plouffe, Mauer, and Sano all rotating around a bit at 1st, 3rd, and DH. If not for Mauer, I'd see Plouffe at 1st, Sano at 3rd (bigger arm), and Vargas at DH (assuming he hits).
  9. Yeah, I know what your saying, but I can't think of one single pitch that I will remember at the end of the season that will stand out like that one.
  10. I'll be very curious to see if that one pitch...that one non strike call...will be the reason the Twins make the playoffs.
  11. Totally agree that the season has been entertaining already and the Twins have far exceeded expectations (especially after the first week). I was one of many who overreacted after the first week. After that, my goal was that they play .500 ball. When they were 10+ above .500, I really started to get excited. Now, I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping that we avoid a September collapse. The key part of this tough road trip will be to avoid extended losing streaks. What's realistic about 9 road games against Houston, KC, and the Sox? 1-2, 1-2, 2-1 for a 4-5 road trip?
  12. Why no love for Tommy Milone? He might not blow teams away, but he knows how to pitch.
  13. We've won the last two games and I don't think any Twins fan thought Bucknor did a good job. Also, yelling at a player isn't professional.
  14. Remember back in the old days when there were Sox fans around to argue with? Apparently, they no longer exist and we are forced to bicker among ourselves.
  15. Right now, the most troubling thing to me about Buck is his inability to get a bunt down. A player with his speed should really have that in his arsenal to get him thru the times when the stick is slumping.
  16. In my perfect world, the Yankees fall apart in September and miss the playoffs. Don't care who else makes it in with the Twins, but I think it would be hilarious if the Yankees, once again, miss the playoffs.
  17. I don't care how ugly it is, beating the White Sox always makes me smile.
  18. Yeah, but in fairness to Kurt, Duffey wasn't throwing anywhere near where Suzuki was setting up. Tough to frame an outside pitch when you are set up on the inside.
  19. But Buxton did score on a sac fly that many guys wouldn't have even been sent on.
  20. Whoa, whoa, whoa! I would argue that the ugly was behind the plate. CB Bucknor was horrible...not necessarily biased...just horrible. What's a strike? What's a ball? I felt like he was flipping a coin back there. I'm shocked that no one was thrown out. We survived a CB Bucknor game! CB is consistently voted as one of the worst umpires in the league. Joe West is still at the bottom of my list, but CB could give him a run for it.
  21. Why is there an assumption that Kepler will help the team right now? He's done well at AA, but, according to the coaches, he's not ready for big league breaking balls yet. Is he going to improve an outfield of Rosario, Buxton, and Hicks? Every at bat counts in a race for the postseason. I see no need to bring him up just to test him out.
  22. Looking at a comparison between the two teams: BA - .248, .251 OBP - .303, .305 SLG - .401, .380 Twins are the first number, Sox are the 2nd. Fairly even there, but the runs scored give the Twins a 564 to 493 advantage. Not a lot of pop in the Chicago lineup as the Twins have 65 more extra base hits than them, but they have 24 more hits than us. A bunch of singles hitters. Our pitchers have the worst BAA in the league at .272 with the Sox at .261 and our fielding percentages are nearly even at .986 and .984. So, anyone thinking that we will run away with this series should think again. Keep the ball in the park and make them hit a bunch of singles to score runs.
  23. I'd say Aaron Thompson would be my guy to risk. What about Arcia? on the 40 man with virtually no chance of a callup.
