  1. After re-checking off Texas’s new park last summer, I’m back in the club. Much more impressive is that Mrs. IT (“I don’t like baseball, but I like some people who like baseball.”) is only missing seven. It’s not a goal for her to finish them off, but fortunately most of them are in cities that she wouldn’t mind visiting.
  2. Don’t forget that it’s also a pain to get to if you’re driving. And expensive for parking. Even as an out-of-towner, I’ve taken to driving to a Park-N-Ride and catching the El. Two of my most miserable games: 1. When I was back in college, I went to a game in June and wasn’t yet familiar with the notion of the wind off the lake and how cold it can be under the overhang. 2. A few years ago when the Twins were there, it was over 100 degrees and I was stuck in one of the back rows of the middle level, where there was no air movement.
  3. What I make of it is, “Stay home on nights he pitches. Sounds like you were the jinx!” 😄
  4. Make it a priority. And get a seat in the lower bowl behind home. Preferably in the evening. If it’s sunny, the “golden hour” will give you the most beautiful view in Major League Baseball.
  5. To clarify, any of my comments above aren’t to say that I think he’ll retire. I don’t. But heck, Michael Jordan walked away from a bigger paycheck (comparably, don’t know the actual dollars from 19whatever) than Gray would. I’m just saying that these comments don’t really mean a lot in the context. They certainly don’t affect my willingness to trade him.
  6. "I'm content," my mom says, each time I ask how she's doing. She's in a retirement home with early stage Alzheimer's. May I have the grace to say the same when I'm in her position. (And today, for that matter.)
  7. Mrs. IT might suggest I should have added a similar statement about myself in my previous parenthetical comment. 🤣
  8. Sounds like a middle-aged guy (which he is, in baseball terms) who reached a significant goal (10 years service) and is in a reflective mood. I don't read much more into than that. (And I appreciate hearing the musings of middle-aged guys in reflective moods, since I'm one of the former and try to be the latter occasionally.)
  9. "Biggest Disappointment" is way different than "Least Valuable." It's true Correa has underperformed expectations, which has been a disappointment. But even so, I don't think I'd argue for him as the "biggest" disappointment. No way has he been the "Least Valuable."
  10. Would have liked to see Arraez get the MVP, but Diaz was a cool story.
  11. It’s a group project, but I’m glad to get it started.
  12. Not Luis’ first hit? Oh. You said HIGHEST.
  13. Hometowner Castillo hasn’t pitched yet, so I suspect Pablo only gets part of the inning. Unless Castillo pitched Sunday.
  14. That was an impressive play by Riley — quick release! We’ve seen some good defense tonight.
  15. A couple days until Friday, but I have to imagine the O’s manager is clamoring for a pitching change after this many pitches. (Dusty arrives as I type.)
  16. I’m sure when the Zamboni went over that it created a few extra red lines.
  17. Not sure, but everyone called him “McDermott.”
  18. I listen to them some as well. I really like Hughes. It’s also not hard to hear some of Hughes come through in Provus’s style.
  19. Sorry — any time ear-biting gets mentioned, it’s hard not to go there…
