  1. I was against. The Twins are not be a big market team, but after the new stadium they were became a solidly entrenched mid-market team. However in the past two years with this ongoing boondoggle with the broadcast and streaming issues they've lost a ton of fans and revenues and have slid back back down the ladder into the small market realm and honestly A LOT of it is Jim Pohlad and Dave St. Pete's fault. The Twins have always been slow to get with the trends and they've done a terrible time at marketing themselves outside stadium events. They are still living in early 2000's. Don't be surprised if more guys like Lopez get sold off in the offseason. I was not for the Correa signing. I thought it way too much money for a guy that quite frankly had a heavy injury history with his ankles and back. He's been nothing short of an unmitigated disaster here. He's so streaky its grotesque. Correa might as well not play from April through the end of May and August to the end of September, he completely disappears offensively. Maybe 12 million a year but 30-35 million heck no.
  2. DUMP HIM NOW!!!! Send 30-40 million Houston's way to get rid of him. Correa is toast. There's a reason most of the other teams shied away from him after the physicals. He's 30 now and fading fast. Why Houston wants him back at this point, god only knows, but i wouldn't look at gift horse in the mouth. TAKE HIM PLEASE and RUN!!!!!!!! ESPN had an article 14 hours ago where Carlos said the talks aren't serious at this point, "We'll see where everything goes, but my goal has always been to be here and win here." Even Carlos knows he's peddling garbage. He's not going to win here ever, the Twins are tearing down now and starting a rebuild and he knows it.
  3. I agree Falvey caved too quickly unless this was a directive to start dumping salary by ownership. If that’s true Correa will be gone by tomorrow hopefully
  4. Yep. I had high hopes for him when he first signed but he’s so atrociously streaky offensively he’s not even close to worth that contract. I agree, send money the Astro’s way, to get rid of him and bring back a lotto ticket prospect.
  5. Not an exceptionally large sample size though. it’s barely more than a scratch Lotto ticket at this point.
  6. Another piece of news. Apparently the Astros have approached the Twins about reacquiring Correa, and that Correa is open to waiving his no trade clause. DO IT! Get rid of his contract while you still can!
  7. If they Twins start selling off, which i kinda doubt, but if they do. I fully expect that Correa will get fed up and demand a trade in the offseason. The Twins sold him a bill of goods that they were gonna continue to build around him and they haven't done that. Correa wants to play for a world series contender not a AAAA farm team. He's the kinda of player with the competitive spirit that he would waive his no trade clause to go to the right team. Unfortunately, his contract is ridiculous for his production levels outside of a handful of teams like the Yankees, Dodgers, etc.
  8. Buxton is having a very good season, but it's been surrounded by so many mediocre short ones, he's not a player to build around anymore. Unfortunately he has a full no trade clause and he's the least likely guy to consider waiving it otherwise i would deal him in a heartbeat for the right package of return players, while he's hot.
  9. I'm open to deals if they are good trades. You have to give up something to get something. I just hope the Twins realize they need to retool. This current group is not gonna miraculously become a pennant winner without some major additions and subtractions. I'd be looking to unload Correa if he's willing to waive his no trade clause though i doubt it happens. He's not played well enough this season for long enough to generate the hype and his contract is monstrous.
  10. ughhh. I read this proposed deal and IMO it's a hard no.
  11. Yep. It's pretty sad this team won 13 in a row earlier this season and climbed over 5 games above .500 and has sunk back down below .500 again. The streakiness of this group of guys is just maddening. This team needs retooling, a new manager, and a owner. IT's a damn shame too because the starters are pretty good at times and more talent is in the pipeline, when in the past this team had good hitting, but was starved for pitching going back to the early 2000's. Shakes head, such a shame. The offense is so anemic it's sickening.
  12. Those “garbage teams” under TK did play like crap but they were disciplined in that play while this team is not and some of that IS a reflection of Baldelli’s management style and how Falvey also wants it managed. TK had far less talent in many of his years (especially after 1992), than Baldelli has ever had to deal with in his tenure and there’s just no excuse for the poor undisciplined play we’re seeing now from far superior rosters compared to what TK had to work with in the latter half of his time as Twins manager. I don’t even think that is even debatable to be honest but I was also a fan of the team back in the 80’s and remember much of it. I would dare say that TK would have this team turned around and headed in the right direction within a few weeks if he was manager now. There would almost certainly be some benchings.
  13. Baldelli is too loose as a manager. He likes to let the team more or less run itself and players take the initiative and make decisions but it has to be in a disciplined fashion. What we’ve seen is that they are not capable of doing that at least from a talent perspective but also discipline perspective and this is where Baldelli falls flat on his face. I would argue that the team needs a more firm handed manager, somebody like TK or even Gardenhire. Baldelli is just not that kind of manager.
  14. The Pohlads have checked out and are just sitting on their hands until this team sells. This is just them keeping the status quo until new ownership takes over. I have a sneaking suspicion that Correa is not happy with how things are going and is getting frustrated. To be honest with the way the team is constructed Falvey should consider asking Correa if he would wave his no trade clause and deal him to a contender to free up salary space and bring back a few prospects. This team is going nowhere and it will be no different next season either with the payroll restrictions. Put frankly until the team sells their stuck. Do Correa a favor and deal him while he’s hot and healthy.
  15. i also forgot to add the issue with tv broadcast rights and the bankruptcy of Bally Sports North also played a big role in the lack of a sale of the franchise. Why would a potential buyer step into that quagmire? This whole situation has been an utter DISASTER.
  16. I agree they should trade him at the first available opportunity (would require him to waive his no trade clause which I’m sure he would do if he could go to the Yankees), but I believe this team needs a near rebuild
  17. I don’t see them spending anymore money
  18. Can’t agree more. Falvey knows the team is now in lame duck mode as the Pohlads have all but checked out. They truly thought Ishbia would be owner by now, but here they are still holding the bag, no buyer in sight, and a product that’s slumping badly, with mounting debt (400 million plus) tacked on from their failing commercial ventures. This is now reflected in attendance (or lack there of), closed food stands at the stadium, fired staff, downsized scouting department, etc. It almost looks and feels like a bankruptcy in the works when walking around Target Field, and the fans and players know it. Falvey has no real motivation or budget to improve the team so he’s forced to just talk in endless circles while the team swirls the drain. Putting on my tin foil hat, I’ve speculated for quite some time now that the Pohlad’s unloaded their debt from Carousel Motors onto the Twins in order to maximize the sale price of Carousel, but this backfired on a potential sale of the Twins franchise itself. Ishiba knew what they were doing and wisely backed out. The timing of the sale, the bloated asking price for the franchise, shuffling of debt, & subsequent payroll cuts when a sale didn’t materialize in early spring, lineup well. The Pohlads also have extensive commercial real estate holdings which have been in a massive slump since Covid which is eating away at the family fortune. I do not expect ANY significant changes come the trade deadline aside from possible salary dumps.

    Buy/Sell move

I do not have much faith in Royce Lewis’s long term health.
  20. Ummm, his last 3 seasons, WAR stats before he got cut (I don't have access to bWar) in 2020, 2021, and 2022 was 0.1, 0.9, and -0.8. And he was just as bad in the 28 games he played for the Angels in 2024 at -0.8 war. To be perfectly honest, he WAS an "easy target" as you put it, because his production flat out sucked post 2019. He was terrible in almost every offensive statistical category those final three years. His career pattern beginning in 2015 was good season, bad season, good season, bad season through 2019, and then he just dropped off the deep end into mediocrity completely. Sano was never in the same league as Joe Mauer, Buxton, Correa, and certainly did not have Joe Mauer's eye at the plate or discipline in the batters box. Outside of 2015, 2017, and 2019, his other seasons were at or well below replacement level. Not exactly a productive player in my eyes but a mediocre one if you ask me. Beyond the homeruns, what were the positives? Abysmal strikeout numbers? He wasn't exactly the most mobile defensive player either, especially after he ballooned up to 298 pounds in the 2019 offseason.
  21. With all due respect I think your take on his time with the Twins is a bit of revisionist history and not reality. I don’t recall fans making fun of him on this forum either, mostly just blunt criticisms of obvious problems of his own doing. Aside from two seasons with the team his play with the Twins was downright awful and he was a terrible hitter. He was NOT a star, PERIOD. Several blogs including Puckets pond and mlbtraderumors had articles documenting how much difficulty the coaches had trying to get him to control his weight and take it seriously. This was after he ballooned up to 298 pounds, was striking out 40% of his at-bats, and sporting a sub .200 average. They basically concluded he was close to un-coachable, and didn’t take it seriously enough which is why he’s out of mlb now. It’s truly his fault that he squandered all that talent, oh well. Over the course of his 3 year post arbitration contract he made 30+ million dollars, which is not chump change and A LOT more than 99% of Americans or Dominicans (for that matter) can dream of in 5 lifetimes. People didn’t hate on Sano they were just very disappointed and frustrated he squandered all that talent (and I don’t blame them), big difference,…..and once again he WAS NOT a star player.
