  1. Glad to see they are trying out prospects in early August and not 35+ year old washed up veterans. Interesting watching Stewart. My own two cents: he's not going to be a starter in this league without an "out" pitch but he could be a good BP guy with that 93 mph sinker. I just don't think it's going to fool hitters very long once they see it a few times in a game. The inability to strike guys out will mean he's going to labor once the league sees him a few times. I disagree with other posters here, Gibson had better secondary stuff when he debuted IMO.
  2. What a shame we might now see Gonsalves this season in the major league rotation. The should have tried to have gotten him some experience this season so he could hit the ground running next year.
  3. Knucklehead? Seriously Ted? Eddie Rosario makes boneheaded plays on occasion but he is not a dummy of a player.
  4. I was thinking along the same lines too. If anything it illustrates a scatterbrain approach. I think they need to shake things up again at the coaching level this offseason. Just my opinion, but like others have said I don't think Paul Molitor is the answer going forward with a young team. Nothing personal towards Paul but that's I feel about him being manager. And to be perfectly fair responsibility doesn't all fall on his shoulders but something is not clicking with this team. I don't think he was the answer in 2015 and he isn't now.
  5. I'd like to see them be more aggressive in 2019. Berrios, Romero, Gibson, Gonsalves, Meija with Thorpe in AAA. I have my doubts that Santana is here in 2019.
  6. And yet he's completely non-existent offensively over half the season, almost every season since 2012. The exceptions being 2016 and 2017.
  7. Sometimes the best deals are addition by subtraction.
  8. See the quoted text in my previous post. Article by Jim Souhan back in March. Do you want me to do a song and a dance too? http://www.startribune.com/brian-dozier-sounds-willing-to-walk-away-from-twins-after-season/475776713/ if you don't call that whining i don't know what is.
  9. I would suspect that they had some discussions with him about an extension and Dozier wanted no part of it in lieu of his comments earlier in the year about the Twins not offering him a deal this past offseason. "I don't want to touch too much on this, it's the thing that gets asked all the time, but at the same time, I will be a free agent this fall. That's the bottom line. You can only say you want to be here so much, and nothing gets done. That's just the way it is. I understand everything. At the same time, you're six months away from free agency. That's intriguing." Personally i don't blame the Twins for not being eager beaver and signing him to an extension given his subsequent atrocious 2018 numbers. Other than 2016 and 2017 he has been wildly inconsistent throughout his career.
  10. Looks like the Twins received a bunch of junk for Dozier.
  11. I can't imagine the Twins keeping Ervin beyond 2018 at the rate he's going. I think they will pay the 1 million buyout.
  12. I'm beginning to think he's not going to get traded. He just isn't performing well enough to trade prospects for a rental.
  13. I agree.
  14. That's not what i mean. How's he doing so far, etc., is what i'm getting at.
  15. A picture of Sano but nothing in the article about Sano?
  16. 30? If he is at 300 lbs. per reports he's probably closer to 40-50 pounds overweight.
  17. That is my thought as well. How can a guy do this every single year? Is he simply not prepared in April and it takes him three months to heat up FINALLY? Escobar is not a better player then Dozier during his hot spells but he is certainly a better player during Dozier's down periods, which end up being half the season. Sorry I'd rather have Escobar and his consistency. What good is it to have players who play half a season of baseball and only show up after the team is 8-10 games out of it. This is what used to drive me crazy about Gibson as well. Trade Dozier. Get what you can for him unless he is willing to sign a team friendly deal which he won't.
  18. Yes, because he does this every year (with the exception of 2016 / 2017). It's not hard to understand those "fans" on TD because he doesn't show up from April - late June sometimes later. That's half the season and part of the reason our offense was horrid up until a few weeks ago. Sorry no sympathies here. At least Escobar is more consistent and less expensive.
  19. No-one should be surprised by this. Brian's average always spikes in August - September but what's the point if the team is completely out of it by then. He has ALWAYS been slow to the party with the exception of 2017 and part of 2016. Through out his major league career beginning in 2012 he has displayed this pattern of low .200's hitting late into the summer before going on a tear and pulling his ba and op percentage up to a halfway respectable average. And quite frankly i'm tired of it. I'm tired of all his chirping and then backing it up with awful stats. Time to move on. If they trade him for something halfway decent fine by me.
  20. Promote Gonsalves to the Majors, trade Gibson for offensive pieces and promote Thorpe to AAA?
  21. Yep i agree. Start wheeling and dealing. The offense needs a rebuild.
