  1. I wouldn't include another player to shed salary. I might eat some, bit not fifty percent. To be clear, I do this because they aren't winning with this core, and signing and, old, guys to full in holes. I want them to go young..... I think CC is still capable of being really good. So there is risk here for sure... I also think the owners pocket the money....
  2. I didn't think the As did any better than Minnesota. Maybe worse even.
  3. If they get anything at all, it would be a win. He's very highly paid, and the goal is to shed the salary, nothing more.
  4. They aren't lowering ticket prices...... So if you decrease payroll, the money goes to owners. I'm not sure what you realistically expect.
  5. On some sites he's not even in the top 100... Or close to top five catcher prospect. For some reason people are ignoring that. On others he is! . The issue I have with the trade is that the twins are taking all the risk, and the reward doesn't help in the next two years while they have Ryan and Lopez. I'm not giving up on Abel, but again, he's lost a ton of prospect shine in the last year. It might be a good trade in a few years, but it does nothing to fix their biggest issues for the next three or four.
  6. There is another pitcher in the deal, and Miller has two more years of control, and costs a lot less in salary.. I'm not sure how comparable the deals are.
  7. There is also another pitcher besides Miller in the deal.
  8. Agreed! I think stuff will happen, but I won't be shocked if it doesn't.
  9. Brock really hit the nail on the head there!
  10. A lot of risk here. And while some sites really like both players, fangraphs has been dropping both for a year. We won't know for three years, I'd guess, but it's a very risky profile.
  11. I actually won't be surprised if nothing else happens.
  12. Fangraphs seems ok with the deal, but the article makes Tait sound like a sure thing super star, even though their prospect writer keeps lowering his ranking. It's like they didn't talk?
  13. Soto might pitch one month this year .... I'm not counting on any HS pitcher given the extreme difficulty of developing them. But this three have high ceilings for sure. They might fix Abel. But they gave up multiple years of an elite closer and took on a ton of risk. And at least some of that is three years away, after Ryan and Lopez leave.
  14. Are we also going to look at MLB.com and all their predictions? Look, this trade MIGHT work....but not in the next year or two. And, the TWins are taking all the risk here on it being fair. One player isn't good enough right now to start for Philly, and one is in A ball (A+ as of a week or two ago).
  15. I'd hope they want to work on stuff with him. I was merely responding to someone who said he was on the Twins now. I think Abel has a shot to be a 3.....but he isn't one, not close (or Philly trades him for more or uses him in Philly).
  16. I don't know how to make it 1000000% more clear that I was talking about the catcher?
  17. So much for Falvey fixing all the things to make the Twins better (and this stuff costs nothing compared to a player). I'm wanting new owners and new FO more and more every day.
  18. Here is what I don't like: 1. It doesn't help in the Lopez Ryan window (since they can't hit at all). (it actively hurts the window) 2. The Twins are taking all the risk. The top get is in A ball (just promoted to high A....). Who was dropped from Fangraphs top 100 this week (after being promoted). And, all that risk is 3 years out....the present value on this deal is awful. People really seem to be ignoring the risk factor here.
  19. Weren't we discussing the catchers? That's what I was talking about.
