  1. to be clear, I'm not saying cut Vargas from AAA....but if you won't try him out seriously this year, when will you?
  2. given that Ryan said they weren't rebuilding, no one with teh Twins? so, if not next year, when? which next year is it, because on this site, the goal posts move back every single year.
  3. Agree on most of this. Seriously, start cutting guys now. Grossman is not part of a winning future. Gimenez is not part of any future. Either call Vargas up, and let him play every day, or move on. Park is only signed for 1 more year past this year, so who cares if he gets hot or not in AAA. Granite is a fine 4th OF, since he can play defense, though I think we are judging his offense a bit fast.
  4. So go with less RPs, and shuttle them back and forth between AAA then..... Realistically? Grossman is not part of a winning roster. I'd consider DFAing him right now. He can't play defense, and his OPS is driven too much by the walk and single to be truly valuable from a DH/bad corner OF. Get rid of the chaffe....
  5. you don't let a pitcher hit in a 1 run game. That's just bad strategy. That's also part of learning. I think you are vastly over thinking what he can learn in this situation, vs trying to win the game. And yes, in development seasons, you still make decisions to try to win.
  6. i still don't understand why Garver is in AAA, and not MN right now. edit: well, SD right now
  7. The most important read on the site, once again. Sigh. I hope Chattanooga falls out of the race, so they promote some players to AAA. An odd hope, but it is my hope.
  8. couldn't disagree more. Berrios learns nothing by staying in that game. complete games are meaningless to development, and probably bad for players' arms in the long run.
  9. Let's hope they do something this off season to help the team long term, or even short term, more than sign Castro, Gimenez, Belisle and Breslow....
  10. You/d think at some point that people wouldn't keep putting up the strawman that anyone expected the pitching to be totally fixed, and instead talk about adding 1 SP and 1-2 legit RPs, like chief, me, and others keep typing. Is there anyone here arguing they could fix it all in 1 year? Indeed, if you can't fix it in 1 year, you'd think you would then have to make incremental progress every year. What progress did the Twins make for 2018 this last off season?
  11. probably don't want to live here either....
  12. with an ocean and close mountains....
  13. that's a totally different argument, one I am not opposed to. but the 40 man "squeeze"? not a real issue imo.
  14. there has to be a better bar, there has to be.
  15. i think I've laughed at that first line like 5 times now! thanks,
  16. agreed, not easy. And, hard to make trades in their situation. The list isn't awesome this year either, should they sit out again? Or, should they outbid the big clubs for the 2-3 good ones?
  17. add 1 legit SP and 1-2 legit RPs....no one said do the impossible, chief and others are asking why not even do that, to the worst pitching the league? Seriously. He's not saying any such thing you are asking.
  18. so what? And really, adding 1-2 RP that weren't named Breslow would have been nice. I think almost every poster said add 1-2 legit RPs, even those of us that want young guys to get a chance.
  19. not sure where else to post this.... TKDC 1:31 Who did a better job trading Garcia, the Braves or the Twins? Eric A Longenhagen 1:31 I like Huascar. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/fangraphs-has-acquired-eric-longenhagen-prospects-chat-for-cash/
  20. Hopefully y'all bought SHOP.....
  21. I think if you ask Alexa for volume 11, you do get good music! or at least louder music.
  22. No, they don't have a lot of tough 40 man decisions. I just don't buy that for one minute. Almost no player of value has been found in the rule V draft since MLB changed the rules. They lost at least 5 guys on the 25 man roster right now, and there are some easy choices to drop off the 40 man. Not even close to hard decisions.
