  1. "find some help" meaning what? How much? At what price? Sure, trade off prospects the FO doesn't believe in. NP. Start trading off legit pieces for the small chance you "do something special"? Um, that's different.
  2. Has any player publicly said "we need to rebuild", ever? Are players the best judges of how to run a team? I mean, I get it, and I sympathize......but I trust the FO a bit more than a player on this topic. Heck, I probably trust a decent number of fans more than a player on this particular topic. do people really think this team has a chance to "do something special"? To me, they'd need to add: 1 SP as good as Santana or better 2 RP as good as Rogers or whomever you want to call "really, really, really good" a DH a SS that can hit (whether that is Polanco or Escobar producing, or getting one) then, maybe, you can really believe. But, that's a tall order. And, it might not work still. How much are you willing to pay to do this, given that there are this many questions, and questions about Mejia and Berrios and Santana being good or not (and Dozier and Santana being gone in 1-2 years)? That's why Falvine make so much money.....hard questions.
  3. What's bad? bottom third? Below median? Last among LFers? Because he's around the bottom third, iirc, on most defensive measures this year. While they aren't perfect, as a relative measure, they are helpful to fans who don't watch every play of every game, so can't really compare players all that well. edit to add: I don't think he's as bad as he's been this year, true talent wise, btw. But I also don't think he's in the top third.
  4. Impossible! For years we were told the Twins were bad because you just can't get talent past the top few picks. Of course, now we are told we can't be mad if those top picks fail, because top picks fail a lot, so there's that....
  5. I'd like Garver up soon. You don't really learn much in September. I'd like him to the backup next year, so I'd like him to get ready for that this year. I doubt it happens before Sept, barring an injury. Gordon's name is all over the place, in AA, and there are still people who don't think he's a good prospect. Hurts my brain.
  6. because babying pitchers doesn't work either, and I say get them up and see what they can do. Get them some acclimation to the majors. Get some nerves out of the way. Prepare for the future, and maybe get lucky this year also.
  7. True story: While in Nebraska for Christmas with the extended family, I was maybe 4-5....as the minister walked down the aisle, I yelled out "here come da judge". My grandmother was not amused, and asked how often we went to church back home....
  8. Like other successful teams do with their pitchers sometimes? This org is so dang change averse, what they've been doing hasn't worked all that well....
  9. I say just leave him in rookie ball. Don't want to rush him and ruin a 24 year old's future forever by rushing him.
  10. Hard to say with certainty, it was a generalization on a message board, not a PHD paper.
  11. I think he's a fourth OF, but judging him already is funny, from the crowd that wants Buxton not to be judged yet..
  12. Might be the post I most strongly agree with ever. So far,i like one move by this front office, and actively hate several.
  13. Why do you listen to the announcers? I usually put good music on during tv sports.
  14. I think the goal is to have Buxton in front of Dozier, and I can buy that goal. It's like hitting the pitcher 8th in the NL, super tiny advantage.
  15. I admit to being surprised he's playing. I still expect him to go down when they need another SP.
  16. Maybe he's working with Turley and, um, the other TOP prospects there?
  17. I read that the Orioles lost Rochester because the team wanted more AAA/AAAA players there, more "names" and upper level talent, and less prospects. Maybe this is about relationships with Rochester. Either way, we've heard all year he'd be up "when"...and all the "whens" have passed except drjim's. Just like Rooker was only going to spend 2 weeks below A ball.....
  18. My guess is they don't think he's an 8 ERA pitcher going forward. If they did, no amount of mentoring would matter, would it?
  19. Doesn't mean he's not around, mentoring. Whatever, nitpicking the data adds nothing to the actual conversation.
  20. wut? Berrios and Mejia aren't making progress? Or, what stats? Literally have no idea what that post means.
  21. I guess I don't see how it could change their plans, because the WS are doing what everyone knew they would, KC has not changed its plans, and neither had Detroit or CLE. I'm not sure what's changed, really, other than they've won a few more games than "planned" probably.
  22. Why can't the Twins do that? If they replace him with a minor leaguer, they've increased payroll by $300K or so. If they can sign a FA, they can pay Hughes not play.
  23. who is he mentoring? And isn't Santana, Belisle, Breslow, Hughes, Perkins enough mentors? I mean, really, which young SP needs mentoring? And how many mentors does he need? Are you sure his presence can only help the team? It isn't possible he is a bad pitcher now, and his presence will hurt the team? Do we know he's a great mentor or whatever?
