  1. Or, they squeezed in Kintzler right at the deadline, and I am not as disappointed.
  2. Other than the Cubs, the middle of hte country waved the white flag, I guess.
  3. Well, I was hoping this FO would either go for it (more than 1 player coming in), or trade off players, weeks ago. They didn't really do either, apparently. Put me in the slightly disappointed camp they didn't succeed at doing one or the other.
  4. That was so far from being something to worry about then. I don't blame the FO one bit for that.
  5. Yanks got international money in two trades. Otani might come to the US during this Intl signing period. sigh.
  6. if they recover from injury, that's a nice trade for the A's. For the Yankees, it's a nice, but not cheap, trade.
  7. For how long? He is 26. At some point, he's either going to be a good catcher, or not. Has anyone from the team or outside scouting talked about/written him up lately? I can't recall seeing anything lately.
  8. John 1:30 Nationals in the mix for Kintzler, you think they end up with one of the better playoff bullpens? Dave Cameron 1:30 Well I wouldn't really want to trust Kintzler inducing groundballs to Daniel Murphy in October, but that's just me. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/2017-trade-deadline-day-chat/
  9. 3 million a year for an above average RP who has never been a FA? More like 10MM a year, I'd guess, maybe as low as 7MM a year for three years...
  10. Gray is cheap, they want under the cap, and he has more than 1 year of control left. I think it is about that, more than fixing just this year.
  11. I predict: Kintzler dealt Belisle dealt Gimenez released in August waivers at some point, about 2-3 weeks from now
  12. I still think Gimenez makes sense for a couple of teams, and allows Garver to come up.
  13. This day trading seems like a good idea. Two lottery tickets in exchange for one lottery ticket.
  14. I literally responded to your post about not trading veterans. Not sure what story I changed. And signing veterans pitchers to specifically trade them later, or day trading, is exactly what the braves did with Garcia. And what others have done.
  15. No, refusing to trade veterans is how you extend the rebuild. You have it exactly backward, imo.
  16. I can't imagine what Valencia does in the other 100+ games he's not playing at 1B. He's not good. I'm not super interested in a guy that can only play 1/3 of the games, max, who doesn't catch. He really ties up the 25 man.
  17. Or, no one has typed "future All Star", and he's 26 with an OPS of .900 in AAA, right handed, and was a bat first draft pick who they hoped could learn to catch who can offer value as a PH, C, potential platoon partner for Mauer, and if needed, can play in the OF in a situation where for some reason he's needed.
