  1. Can't watch. Three errors? Like bad ones?
  2. and? that has what to do with whether or not Mauer/grossman/dozier are good compared to others at their positions, and completely ignores baserunning and fielding? You win by having players that are better than other teams' players, mostly by comparing positions (because players don't play in a vacuum). Some people seem to be saying, "if everyone else is great, doesn't matter how good or bad Dozier or Mauer are"....when that's just a bad question and answer that doesn't help build a winning team.
  3. I am working from home today, I'll let you know.....
  4. In fairness to the FO, they did try hard to sign a DH this last off season. I didn't love the choice, but they tried. Of course, trying is not the same as succeeding, and it's their job to succeed, not try. But they clearly felt it was an issue that needed addressing, so that indicates a certain knowledge of the team's strengths that should increase our confidence in them some.
  5. Can they? Sure. But that's not the same question as: are these guys GOOD or better compared to other players at their position. To say "they aren't the main problem" is NOT the same "are they good". Mauer is closer to the worst 1B in baseball (by WAR) than a top 5 1B. He's 18th in FWAR. He might accumulate 1.5 WAR if he's lucky the rest of the way. He's just not that good anymore. It's a bummer, because when he was "Mauer", he was one of the best pure hitters we've seen. But he's not that guy anymore at all. Dozier is better compared to other 2B than Mauer is to 1B, but not a by a ton. He's going to accumulate around 2 WAR, which is fine, but not exactly good. They'd be lucky to get a top 30 prospect for him at this point or even a top 100 one. In other words, they might not be the biggest issues, but they aren't exactly going to carry this team either. They are mediocre players, likely nearing the end of their careers.
  6. If only there was a right handed hitter with an OPS over.900 available in AAA who can catch or play first. Unicorn, I guess.
  7. Odds are good he will be sent back, as are most prospects.
  8. Slegers apparently isn't good enough to get a spot start for a team with one of the 2-3 worst SP staffs in baseball...... a: how good is he b: if they won't give him a shot this year, why do we care if they lose him?
  9. the alternative would be to have a discussion on a discussion board about what we would do.
  10. so, just trust the FO? What if it doesn't need 4 more weeks?
  11. Disappointing to be sure. I hope the leaders on the team figure out how to lead. We clearly have no idea, but it seems to be lacking again/still. But, it comes down to talent, and they just don't have enough.
  12. Quite the effort by this team lately. I would have fired the manager after the first inning sacrifice, why wait any longer?
  13. that can be an issue at music fests, agreed. Still worth it for the right one. We are debating which night of this to go to: http://portland.projectpabst.com/ I'd like to see Father John Misty, but I really want to see Beck. Big Lizzo fan, but we've seen her.
  14. I'd be at LALA for sure.....I love live music.
