    losing a pick is a big deal. I can't find anyone on line that has worked in a FO say anything other than that. you lose a year of development, and you lose potential trade chip. It's not as simple as "they get the pick next year" from what I read.

    Something more along the lines of 25MM or more, real money I could use as a huge signing bonus to get Machado or Harper here. But, that's from a fan perspective, not an owner's......they have enough money to spend more if they want, I really only care about the on field product, I'm not the FO or owner.

    Gonna be hard to sign anyone with leverage to a large overslot deal, given the Hughes trade.

    I lived in walking distance in Hillsboro year 1....was too busy wiht work, beer fests, wineries and hiking to ever go.....but I'd happily head out there sometime if you want. Or not. Either works.

    The Twins have Wade, Cave, Granite all in AAA (or should be).....they couldn't find one RH OF to trade for? I just don't buy that. And no, I don't have a list of the RH OF in AA and AAA to tell you who..... It's not crucial.....but it also wouldn't be expensive to find a RH OF that they think is a 4th OF (and maybe LaMarre remarkably becomes so, against years of minor league data saying otherwise, which would be great).

    they had alreayd subtracted him.....the only real discussions here, imo,are: Is it good for a mid market team to sell draft picks? Is it likley they will spend as much money next year as this year? Is there some other way they'll use the money to improve the team on the field?

    Mid market teams can't compete for "the long term, forever"....they just can't. But yes, this is a tangent. there was actually recently an article on this on one of the sites....basically, to extend your window (and to have ultimate success) you need to spend more and more money.....

    They could have traded for one. If this is the window, then they need to be willing to trade prospects.

    Agreed, but really hard to see how they spend more than this year's budget.

    It is possible they really liked Littel. It is possible ownership changed their mind. It is possible they are doing something amazing next year. We won't know until next year, I'd guess.

    I doubt that was how the decision was made. Very much. How many hitters were taken between those two?

    He knew. It was sarcasm that numbers don't mean much.... The difference, imo, is that most of these players have stuff to back up the numbers, where slama did not.

    It's a good theory.... But then you have to be willing to trade top ten or so prospects away..... And sign them, and have a tiny window, since you have developed few pitchers.

    I meant from AA to the Twins, my bad.... There was one RP last year, bit other than that, I think they are using AAA as a stop.

    The offense has been good since Buxton went down, and Sano came back. That's partly a coincidence, but I don't think totally. I like when they win

    I hope they aren't going off tiny, hot, sample sizes, and are calling up the person that best for the context.

    Has this FO promoted anyone from AA yet? I can't think of anyone. So, Wade should be in AAA.
