  1. I like the idea of Mussels being the name, not so sure about the execution...
  2. The post I responded to said that any takes that Lewis MIGHT NOT stick at short were fan takes. They clearly aren't ONLY fan takes. That was the discussion..... I think the jury is still out. It also depends on the progress of other SS in the system, and Buxton's health, IMO. As for trading for a top 25 or so player, with multiple years of control left.....um....not happening.
  3. well, if you think those guys will be better hitters than Rosario has ever been, I can see why don't want to trade them....since Chapman has outhit Eddie....
  4. I'm guessing Kiriloff in June or so, with a placeholder brought in to start the year.
  5. In their last writeup, they say most scouts think he can stick at SS, which was NOT THE CASE a year ago......https://blogs.fangraphs.com/top-41-prospects-minnesota-twins/ again, not a fan take.
  6. skeptical is not the same as "won't".....btw. I've never seen him say he was confident Lewis would stick at SS. A chance, yes, but not confident.
  7. Keith Law is still skeptical. The guys at Fangraphs go back and forth. It isn't a fan take at all.
  8. Sanchez is out for the year, probably. I sign gausmann and move him to relief.
  9. Of course, advanced stats take into account the NL/AL thing.....he's a good pitcher. He has very good stuff. I get that you like him, but if you discount every NL pitcher, and every AL pitcher on a playoff team, and every pitcher with more than 2 years of control left....who is left?
  10. Nothing worse than signing bad players, and then playing them at least half a year......
  11. I hear Morgan isn't open to the new stathead thing, so maybe not him.....
  12. I am going to assume that means the Reds aren't selling......so cross off some possible trade targets....
  13. I assume, then, you won't make a trade of a good prospect either? Because a good prospect is worth more than a 2nd round pick, not to mention what multiple good prospects are worth compared to one 2nd round pick....
  14. He has 5 years of control left. Other than last year, and Miami, I can't think of pitchers like that being traded. Here is a good write-up on him. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/can-john-means-build-on-a-strong-rookie-season/
  15. I'm perusing the starting pitchers that were good last year....there aren't a lot on non-playoff teams. Especially if you eliminate any with only a year or two in the majors. Other than the Marlins pitcher last year, it's hard to think of starters traded with more than 2-3 years of control left. I think trading is going to be difficult, and pricey.
  16. Thorpe should move to the pen now, and not spend another year as a starter. Just as Rogers should have moved a year earlier.
  17. I don't think Astudillo is a good hitter long term, and I don't think he's a good catcher. I hope they have someone else here to start the year at catcher behind Garver
  18. They have fifty to seventy million in payroll space. Why not sign good players? You think a contending team should go into the year with two rookie pitchers, and sign a guy that is going to miss one fourth of his starts, so you need another rookie for those starts?
  19. Except zero sum isn't better. And, Pineda is highly rated, not someone no one had thought of and no one is interested in. The post I responded to said find someone better, that no one is interested in....
  20. Over paid, as in they won't be good? Or that they might be worth a few million less? Because those are two different things....
  21. Find a better pitcher that no one is interested in? How does that work? Where do people think these pitchers are going to come from? If you think a team should wait until it is good to sign free agents, you get the list that is available at that point.... Not some list that doesn't exist.
  22. No issues. I still don't understand list year's playing time.... And am, therefore, concerned about next year's. So we agree!
