I'm guessing they believed in McCarthy, and after seeing him, don't. It happens all the time, just this is a QB and the GM sucked at drafting, so it's BIG.
Good luck to KOC keeping his job with these options.
They have 3 starters, and he's terrible at defense. They also have Roden, who couldn't prove more in AAA. How does someone prove they are ready, while in AAA?
Agreed. He's nowhere near the top 4 or 5 SP prospects right now, or in the future. This year is toast. Start him on his long term path (you know, like they should have earlier with almost every starter they have moved to RP other than Duran).
I agree, but the same was said about TJack and Bridgewater..... Some guys just aren't good or mature. I'm fairly sure McCarthy will fail in Minnesota, but I don't like any of the alternatives. So let's see..... But I'm guessing 7-9 wins again, most of them like last year, after other teams have given up.
If you only grade things after they happen, what's the point? And, sometimes things turn out badly, even if you make a good choice (of vice versa). If your pilot decides to use the flaps wrong, do you wait to see if you crash before you know it was a bad decision?
Heh. He's got the most upside of any of their options, which says a lot about how few QBs even are alive on the planet. I'm saddened by this. Who could have predicted taking a QB whose college offense was built around running and not using the QB would fail?
They have no catchers, no 1B, and questions in the OF (not to mention they lose two starting pitchers in a year or two). I'm not trading for a SS at this point. YMMV, of course*
* I mean, if someone makes a crazy offer, sure....
