  1. I hope I've been clear, I don't have any expectations he'll hit like that this year.....I'm guessing he's 8th-13th among LFers in fWAR this year....but I won't be utterly shocked if he goes down for a few weeks (or more) either.
  2. Ya, I don't get it either. I don't understand how it all works, though, so maybe there is a reason? I don't know what that would be......
  3. He played less than half the games....if he played the same all year, why would I not double his counting stats? I mean, his D and baserunning matter too..... In any event, I was wrong, he was 5th or 6th. By wrc+ he was 2nd overall, among LFers, btw.....
  4. I'm not sure how to judge him, other than how he actually played.
  5. All we can go on is what happened, and people are literally typing he wasn't all that good last. I clearly said he might not be going forward, all I said was that on a per game basis, he was great last year. Nothing more or less.
  6. Wallner was the second best LFer in the game last year by war..... He didn't play half the games, and if you double his war he was literally the second best LFer in all of baseball. This idea he wasn't all that good last year is clearly not true at all. As for this year? Sure, he could absolutely struggle and go down, just like Hunter and others have. No doubt.
  7. So many linebackers!
  8. Twins are counting on Paddock to at least start the season. You might not like that, but they are doing that. At this point, they are also counting on Varland (I mean, even veterans are unknowns, one of them had a HORRIBLE second half and good first half last year, sometimes they get hurt....there is one good SP out there, and they aren't paying for him). I would go with Varland at this point over any SP they can/will afford to sign. I think we all agree we'd rather have signed a legit SP or traded for one, but that didn't happen. That's a different discussion than what is out there. I also am fairly sure they aren't adding to the payroll at this point, so if you want to sign a guy, you gotta trade a guy....
  9. How is the length of the lineup on the hitting coach?
  10. How many good pitchers do you think most teams have? I think people are unrealistic of they expect anyone past the sixth starter to be even close to good
  11. Agreed. They've checked the boxes, other than OG...... I'm surprised at that. The big holes are QB, IOL, and DT. They might fill two of those in the draft. If they do, I'll be really impressed with this reset. Assuming they get the right QB.
  12. Wallner. Sure, he might need to go down, but no way I send him down now. And they can't replace an OF with Lee....imo
  13. The Twins have shown they'll have Vazquez catch half the time. The question is.... When that happens and they face a lefty, who should DH?
  14. I never wanted him starting this year. Varland is my number five. Best players on the field while healthy is my preference.. Because you never know when they'll get hurt, especially pitchers.
  15. You'd send down one of their best hitters last year due to spring stats?
  16. I thought I was clearly saying I didn't know if now was the time? I mean, I literally typed those words. That post was disagreeing with the idea that trusting young players is always bad.
  17. At some point, you have to trust prospects or fire everyone involved. Now, I don't know if this is that point, but people act like trusting young players is bad on it's face.
  18. Not all of a sudden. Lots of people said it at the time of the trade. Lots. I hate they didn't add a real starter.... But that's a different topic.
  19. Twins were 7th in OpS and tenth in runs scored for the season, with Julien and Lewis and Wallner playing half the year. CC was hurt. What are you expecting? They won a playoff series. I'm not sure I understand what fans expect.
