  1. If they re-do Hunter and JJ and let Kirk walk, they can easily sign 2-3 good FAs with this cap number (and moving Hunter and JJ money to the future). If they let Hunter and Kirk walk, going to be hard to sign GOOD FAs this year......IIRC.
  2. Yuck. Santana is likely either at first or DH vs RH pitching. Not a fan at all.
  3. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/a-dodgers-favorite-returns-after-manuel-margots-to-minnesota/
  4. Not until there was an injury and Wallner came up (twice)...but eventually yes. In the mean time, they lost 2 months of hitting in LF (May and June).
  5. Margot was actually pretty bad in the field last year.....let's hope he's better this year. He also didn't hit. He's been a league average or better hitter one time in his career. If he's a long term replacement for Buxton, this team loses a ton of offense. A ton.
  6. They literally lost 4 starting OFers the year you are referencing they still don't have that much depth, no one does. As for your last paragraph, they also do that with the bullpen. There is no evidence this FO will move on from a mediocre veteran w/o an injury. None.
  7. Clearly the team hasn't.....but plenty of people here have.
  8. I've never understood people that give up on 22 year olds in. AAA..... Here's hoping he progresses this year!
  9. It would have been better to trade for a bat last year at the deadline, that team was more worthy.... No idea if one was available....
  10. Agreed. It's all projection at this point. I hope they are right.
  11. How about the last two years? I mean, at some point, guys drop off (or have lingering injuries).
  12. But they have Farmer and Castro this year.....they had 2 open hitter spots, and decided not to use either on a guy with options. The only way the AAA guy see real time is if someone important goes down for months at a time.....which is fine, that's a strategy. It isn't one I like. Heck, they've also filled the bullpen with old guys w/o options. You know how they love to cut bait on those guys (not).
  13. I don't see many people screaming about the prospect they gave up....more about the guy they got...... The MLB player isn't a throw in, he blocks younger guys. He's on the roster.
  14. Don't care. The issue is the back of the MLB bench being old without options. And not all that good. Blocking the minor league guys.
  15. On the plus side, nope, can't think of one. This team is clogged with old veterans that can't be optioned at the end of the bench and bullpen. Just not a fan at all.
  16. This would not be my favorite decision.
  17. If I'm an expansion team, I'm taking veterans I can trade for prospects..... And really young players I can keep around. If I'm the Twins, I think I'd base my protection around that.
  18. I'm not criticizing anyone. I'm pointing out that if you have a budget, and get one time money, it's bad strategy to commit past one year. How is that debatable?
  19. I was aiming for five, maybe ten, percent over two weeks.... lucky for me this time. It's not always that way....
  20. When did they sign CC to the second deal? Wasn't that last year ?
  21. Vazquez for a defense first catcher for ten million. They didn't shed Kepler either. Covering is fine, if you don't plan to sign anyone else, and that doesn't account for next year's increases. My preference is irrelevant to what a team with budget constraints should do.
