I was so wrong about Herbert, sure would be great to have him here. They have plenty of cap space to play with after this year. JJ isn't going anywhere unless he says he won't sign.
I'm not sure they are ignoring it.....they just have bigger holes right now? I mean, the choices weren't great in FA......If they can keep their 2nd round pick after trading up, I bet they deal down and pick up a 3rd and 4th and use one of those on an IOL (though I'd stay put and take BPA).
The O's owner loves money, and not spending it, so that might hold them back some, but their FO and development staff are on fire the last few years, and are loaded, so we'll see....but yes, they are going to be great.
And some fans whine that players have guaranteed contracts and don't show loyalty to teams. This is just example a billion of why labor should never do that.
A lot of their success lies in Buxton being healthy, imo. While they have adequate backups, Buxton is a star when healthy. You don't just replace a star......I'm not worried long term, but this year? I'm not a fan of the Margo signing....
I felt both these offensive players would be in Minnesota, so no surprise this morning there. Joseph likely being gone is fine with me.
I'm guessing the Vikings deal up, and don't have a second round pick this year. McCarthy will be here, unless NE picks him.
That's because most of the QBs are already taken before that.... Or taken much later.
No one wants the team to be awful, but that's not the choice. The choice is taking a QB early by trading up, or taking Nix or Penix, or the other guy in round two at some point, likely trading up. Those are the choices.
My bad, thought you were on that train. Well, he's gone now.....so I'm not sure what you expect. You want a good FA QB (good luck) and I have no idea your point on drafting one.
It's done. He's gone. They'll sign a mediocre backup and draft a guy they want to start in 4-10 games or so.
so what does any of that have to do with the placeholder they sign? You wanted Kirk gone, he's gone. What do you expect now?
"at least average" for the placeholder? So, a top 15-20 QB overall? That's your expectation of a backup?
I am fairly confident 8 at bats means nothing.....
I am also fairly confident this guy can play, and while he's very unlikely to reproduce last year's numbers (would have been the 2nd best LFer in the game over a full season), he's also, imo, very unlikely to be below average for the year. I think he's a legit player for this team for years to come.
Vikings sign Jonathan Greenard, who had an unsustainably high sack rate last year (as a % of pressures).....they needed edge, so if it isn't huge money, this should be good.
