  1. A bit of fun for your reading.... https://blogs.fangraphs.com/has-anyone-ever-hit-the-target-field-target/
  2. apparently it is in the Vikings best interest to sign Kirk before valentine's day, due to cap considerations (if they are signing him). So, if that's really true, we'll know soon what the plan is....
  3. hahahahahaha. No. Now, JJ for the number 3 and a 2nd and a first plus next year? I mean, if JJ wants to be gone......but only if he wants to be gone.
  4. Which young guys? Wallner, Julien and ? Buxton, Kepler, CC, Vazquez, Farmer, Santana are long time vets. Jeffers isn't young in terms of MLB experience and has Vazquez. I'll give you AK also..... On the pitching side? Ober and ? are young?
  5. I get that. I think people under-estimate the value of "certainty" with Lee. Also, his ceiling. But I get it.
  6. Hence "if" and "when healthy". MOST pitchers only have so many healthy pitches in their arms.
  7. Jenkins, Lee, ERod, Raya.....for me.
  8. I get this thinking, I hate this thinking. If he's better than some of the other 13 pitchers, clearly better, he should be up. While healthy.
  9. 200 innings? What year was this written? Only 15 pitchers pitched more than 190 innings last year. I have no idea why this is a thing at all in people's minds anymore. Only 58 pitchers pitched 150 or more innings. Really. I just don't get this idea that 200 is any kind of target at all. Now, had you said even 120 innings, I'd nod and say "ya, that's a good question" at this point. Me? I'm betting he goes 4 innings a start, give or take, to start the year. He finishes the year in the major league bullpen for the last month and playoffs.
  10. Not quite as rosy..... You should pay attention to the caveat.... https://blogs.fangraphs.com/the-2024-pre-spring-training-zips-projected-standings-american-league/
  11. How many leaders do they need? Outside Wallner and Julien, who is young and not a leader? Because we're told Lewis is one. I'm not downplaying the importance of mentors, I've been pretty clear about their importance my whole life....I just wonder if that's why these signings are happening. I think Santana is here because he's always healthy and a potentially league average player.
  12. If you aren't excited about this player, well, I just don't know what to say.
  13. They project the Twins as average, but more likely than not to win the division https://blogs.fangraphs.com/six-takeaways-from-our-2024-playoff-odds-release/
  14. Agreed. And Wallner and Julien up all year. There is ceiling, but it comes with risk.
  15. There's a zero percent chance we'll agree on this, and I no longer argue for the sake of arguing on social media, so I'll just bow out of this conversation.
  16. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/first-basemen-need-to-change-their-evil-ways-baby/ Sort of about Santana
  17. bummer for them......
  18. How much would Martin need to dominate, and how bad would Gordon have to be to take the leap? That's the concern for me....teams tend to be risk adverse and keep mediocre vets around while AAA guys play well (note, I actually like Gordon, this isn't about Gordon). And, I started that with "IF he's better than Martin".....
  19. I understand that....my concern is that Nick Gordon will be mediocre, and keep his job no matter how Martin plays....until one of them is hurt. As for your earlier post, he might not be better than Gordon, I get that. This constant fear that many here have of mediocre players getting hurt, the AAA guy coming up and getting hurt, then having bad players play is something I don't agree with, but understand that I'm less risk adverse than many...
  20. do you think an extra 8 at bats a week and 4 plays or less a week really matters to his development? It might, I don't really know....but I love his speed and base stealing and think he'd be a real asset to the team (assuming health) right now.
  21. I admit to being shocked he's this highly rated at this point (not that I disagree).
  22. I've never understood this for a 24 year old....if he's better then Gordon, he should be up contributing for 3-4 games a week. That's way more valuable to the team than keeping him in AAA so he can get 8-12 more at bats a week. I'm a believer when he's healthy. Let's hope this is that year.
  23. I doubt anyone will be the best hitter around for 2-3 weeks, then be pretty much awful the rest of the year......the question is, will he really be better than guys in AAA, that would have allowed them to invest the money elsewhere?
  24. Attendance is largely driven by previous year's record, since season tickets sales are driven by that, as well as the first 2-3 months.....we should expect it to be better this year. Not sure it will be, but that's how the cycle generally works. It won't help that immediately after being good, they said they were cutting payroll .....that won't sit well with the fans.
