  1. I'm guessing some of MLB might be in trouble someday, but that day is not today, apparently. As teams continue to sell in other sports no problem. We don't really have access to their books, so it is really hard to figure any of this out (the Atlanta team being an exception on several levels).
  2. The Atlanta team uses the team/stadium area to build a massive redevelopment around it, and they are making plenty of money on that part of the business, while making it look like they are losing money on the team.....not every situation is the same. I'll say it again, your company doesn't go from 44 million to 1.5 billion in value if you are losing money every year.....or at all overall.
  3. I have no idea how the Cards gave up so little in this trade? I must be missing something.....
  4. no more certain than any other prospect, but if you have a budget, you have to trust your prospects.
  5. They are healthy. You never know if they'll be so next year (just look at waiting for next year while the M&M boys were healthy).
  6. Ya, you can if you have a budget and that last part is total bunk and needs to die.
  7. No way they deal Alacala or Jax. Or Wallner. How do you fill those spots at all, let alone easier? I literally have no idea how this is a good idea. Wallner is their best hitting OF. Jax their best RP. Like, I really don't get this at all.
  8. In thinking about this more, I just don't think they want to pay the price for a non-rental. Next year in AAA they have Festa, Morris, Matthews, maybe Raya and Ohl.....do they even want a non-rental starter? They have 4 starters and Paddocak (and Varland).
  9. As I said elsewhere: Kepler and Julien for Cortes and a prospect. You might have to put Varland or Paddock in there, and get a better prospect as the Yankees will need a 5th starter occasionally the rest of the way.
  10. Interesting....Kepler and Julien for Cortez and a decent prospect? Not sure I do that, but it seems fairish.
  11. I really think they weren't planning on that budget last year, and the CC thing happened.....and they decided to have that budget for one year. Note they didn't really ADD at the deadline last year, so I think money WAS an issue last year.
  12. No, you don't have to choose....you can do all three of those things at the same time. Also, standing pat also has risk....inaction has as much risk as action. This idea that doing nothing has no risk really has to die in all parts of life.
  13. I made a typo above....but the point remains. Established businesses that lose money every year don't go up in value every year. They just don't.
  14. Pointing out outliers doesn't really make your point. Ryan is truly unique, as studies show. Ober was great, and I'm very confident in him.
  15. I mean, what did they do last trade deadline when they had one of the best pitching staffs in baseball that makes anyone think they will add a significant piece this year? No established business that loses 100 million a year goes up in value every year. It just doesn't . edit: I meant to type 10 million, but whatever.....
  16. Time to promote Jenkins already. he's not learning anything in low A ball at this point.
  17. My feedback on these reports is that they are the best part of the site. You can tell all the writers are really into it. Just love this part.
  18. Wow, QBs are expensive!
  19. That's what they said about Jax.... If I was him, I'd want money before my arm fell off.... But I see your point, and could be wrong.
  20. He's not going to get poop in arbitration since he's never healthy. Cost isn't an issue at all, just health.
  21. It's going to be almost impossible to sign someone to any kind of big dollar or even mid dollar deal, either as a FA or their own guys given that, and their budget. It's why I think they won't deal for a controllable SP this year, they have Festa, Morris, and Matthews on the brink. Plus Paddock. And Varland.
  22. Holy hell, Shaq Griffin may have been injured today. DO NOT let your kids play CB for this team....
