    I liked the idea of keeping a long guy in the game if he’s warmed up, and effective. Instead of bringing in a string of guys cold off the bench until one of them implodes.

    I am sorry about your tap and die set. Sometimes I think inanimate objects are sentient, and the Craftsman discovered that a cheap metric was its replacement, and so the Craftsman died of a broken heart. And they definitely do not manufacture things the way they used to. After a couple rounds of brand new cookware, bought from low end and high end sellers, I eventually went back and dug out my mother’s old set and couldn’t be happier. Made well, gets used all the time, and still going strong.

    Red Sox were, or are, on a 6-game Win streak. I liked the idea of Happ starting today, and Dobnak entering the game after any rain delay. As someone upthread said, this might not be the last time a game is cancelled for these reasons. I’m going to guess there is a 7-inning double header Thurs.

    I’m all for it. I see the same as you. Rocco seems to have gotten much more conventional with his player usage in 2021 than in 2019. For example, bullpen. In 2019 he mixed and matched according to game situation, Rogers, Hildenberger, Blake Parker were the guys early in the season. But this year it looks like he’s going with the closer role, and also the more conventional “7th inning” and “8th inning” guys as well. That said, I’d bet someone else gets the next save opportunity.

    I was hoping someone would point that out It giveth, it taketh away. I would like to see Cruz advance to second base (which he would have, this time) before considering the substitution. The next batter was hit by pitch. But the next batter is just as likely to hit into a ground ball force out at second, completely wasting the substition.
