  1. Why do people think Greg Maddux didn't strike people out? He had seven seasons in the top 10 in strikeouts and is 12th all-time in career strikeouts.
  2. It was pretty obvious he won't be able to keep up these results. He had the best back-to-back starts of his career. He didn't suddenly get better, he got healthy and lucky at the same time. I still think he's a trade candidate.
  3. There's an alarming split I noticed for this season Bases Empty: .303/.410/.333 740 OPS Runners On: .412/.508/.569 1076 OPS That suggests he can't pitch out of the stretch effectively. Last season he was more effective with runners on than with the bases empty.
  4. We both agree on this. I don't think he's that guy unless he's playing at 100%. This version is like Byron Buxton in 2023.
  5. We actually have no idea if stamina is a roadblock. They've never tried to see if he can consistently pitch 5-6 innings as a starter. This makes me believe they've never been developing him as a starting pitcher, but using a starter's routine to get him innings. Good to see him find the strike zone last night.
  6. https://www.mlb.com/news/matt-wallner-nearing-end-of-rehab-assignment-return-to-twins Looks like the Twins trainers had him at Target Field for injury rehab work.
  7. I agree with this. If Royce can't play at full speed then I'd rather see Jonah Bride get the playing time. This version of Royce Lewis is lousy.
  8. Will moving to the bullpen help him with location? If he can't throw strikes he won't make it anywhere.
  9. He's probably carrying more muscle than he would if he played SS. Less time in the weight room and more time doing flexibility and speed training.
  10. Random thoughts from the game Vinnie Pasquantino is very much a first baseman. He looks like a first baseman - if you lined up all the Kansas City Royals and asked me to pick out the first baseman I'd pick Vinnie. He has a first baseman name. He makes plays like he belongs at first base, not like he's learning it on the fly. Cavan Biggio and Kody Clemens hung out together when their dads were on the Astros, right? I know they played against each other in high school and played on some of the same showcase teams in the summer. I can't seem to find a picture of them together on the internet. I wonder if both dads will show up in Minnesota this Memorial Day weekend.
  11. You don't think a roof would improve the aesthetics? Joking. It's a good role for him right now. The team needs that.
  12. The inning was over. He's not going to sit down and go back in the ballgame. It's hard enough to keep Stewart healthy as it is.
  13. If he can't control the running game, he'll never be a major league catcher. It doesn't matter how well he frames or blocks wild pitches. You can't turn every single or walk into a double.
  14. Margot looks like a significantly better player than Dashawn Keirsey, even in his decline. Better stats both last year and this year.
  15. Detroit should have some payroll room to add at the deadline if needed.
  16. Yes. That's the obvious move. Even in limited playing time he has a -0.8 WAR. They can't hide his deficiencies well enough to keep him on the roster.
  17. I don't want to see a minor league report for every team or even a game recap for every team (keep those on the individual sites), but articles like the one analyzing Correa's swing should have appeal to a broader audience. I was looking up the Fangraphs data on Ty France's ranking among 1B and I said to myself "Who the hell is Jonathan Aranda?". I would read the "Who the hell is Jonathan Aranda?" article. I'd read an article about how well (or not well) Altuve has adjusted to LF. Stuff like that.
  18. Interesting that TwinsDaily is creating sister sites for other teams. I am not particularly interested in those, but I would be interested in an MLB aggregated site for the other teams in baseball that takes the best articles from each team and curates them. We lost a lot when Baseball Think Factory shut down.
  19. Miranda has done a great job this season justifying that lack of faith. He has a 523 OPS in hitter-friendly St. Paul.
  20. France isn't much worse in his positional rankings than other Twins are at their positions. 2B and 3B rank worse. SS and DH are about the same as France. The outfield (Buxton, Bader, Wallner) looks good and Jeffers is a good catcher.
  21. Looking at Fangraphs - he's 24th in offense among 1B and 10th in defense for an overall ranking of 21. Similar 1B include Luis Arraez, Carlos Santana, Nathaniel Lowe, Jake Burger and Rowdy Tellez.
  22. He's been fine, about as expected. I thought it was better to give the playing time to Jose Miranda or Julien but Miranda has been awful this year, even at AAA and Julien has been below replacement value. Signing Ty France to be the everyday 1B is more about the opportunity lost than the production gained.
  23. Doubtful he goes to AAA. More like a way to get him time off from pitching to protect his arm.
