  1. I hope Adams gets to pitch before he's replaced on the roster by Coulombe
  2. I really hope Culpepper doesn't miss a half season with ligament replacement surgery and then months the following season due to a broken arm.
  3. Either a team believes Eeles can play at MLB (and he has trade value) or they don't (and he doesn't). His age is perfectly normal for a player at AAA.
  4. Brilliant idea. They should hire a pitching coach in AAA. I'm sure other teams would pick up on that and eventually every minor league team would have a pitching coach. Your idea might revolutionize minor league development.
  5. Those guys don't get sold at the deadline. Deadline deals are almost always vets for prospects. If you're buying, you're giving up the years of team control to get the expiring contract. The Twins would be buying so they would be giving up the years of team control on Duran to add value in 2025. The only player who might get traded who actually makes the team better in a Duran trade is Bregman. Duran is more valuable this season than O'Hearn and Ozuna.
  6. Eeles is too small to play 3B. The last time a player that short played more than 30 innings at 3B was over 100 years ago. He's 2B/LF like Altuve. I think he's an interesting player to trade at the deadline.
  7. Ryan O'Hearn will be traded by the Orioles. He has a 172 OPS+ and a tiny $8M salary for 2025. He's a great fit for the Twins since he can play the field at 1B and corner OF. That also makes him a great fit for almost every other contending team. Alex Bregman has an opt-out and could be traded by the Red Sox, but he also has a $40M salary for this season. Bregman is 4th in WAR in the American League. Atlanta could sell Marcell Ozuna. He has a 147 OPS+ and a $16M salary for 2025. He's a pure DH. Those are the best hitters likely to move at the deadline.
  8. Canadian travel to the USA has plummeted. Should be plenty of tickets available for Twins fans.
  9. Personally, I think they should be offering Duran a long-term contract. I also think they should have done that in each of the past two off-seasons. There is no reason to move Duran now because he'll be expensive in 2027. Move him in 2027 if that's the problem.
  10. Carlos Santana and Ty France are proof enough that it isn't hard to find a veteran free agent 1B every offseason. Christian Vazquez is proof that it's nearly impossible to find a veteran free agent catcher worth a darn and you'll probably pay a premium to get not much additional value.
  11. You're assuming there are no other injuries between now and the trade deadline.
  12. He's making more money than the Twins have in their budget. If the Red Sox are willing to eat the remaining salary, I'd give up quite a bit. I suspect another team would still out-bid the Twins.
  13. They have spent so much effort on finding RH bats that finding a lefthanded power hitter for the infield could be useful. France could stick around to platoon and pinch hit. Kody Clemens has been pretty awesome this month, but his career split is just a 666 OPS vs RHP.
  14. There is another article just posted, but mostly Brooks Lee and Royce Lewis at-bats. Probably Kody Clemens also as he comes back to reality. It would be great if they didn't use Jeffers at DH at all.
  15. It's more that Pablo Lopez has been at his best (highest ERA+ of his career, lowest FIP) but he hasn't been at his healthiest.
  16. They can replace Bride with a bat who complements one of the other starters or even just a pure DH/PH bat. Lee and Castro offer positional flexibility. Bride is redundant, not complementary depth.
  17. I think it is a much safer bet that Freddie Freeman is healthy and effective at the end of the season than Chris Paddack. Freeman is going to be inducted into the Hall of Fame some day. Paddack might visit, but he'll have to buy a ticket.
  18. OBP is the most important of any of the metrics because of what it measures inversely - does the player make outs at the plate. Outs are precious, you only get 3 every inning.
  19. Thanks for the context. I saw the triple slash above and thought nobody could beat an OBP of .623. Someone should tell the author that triple slash stats are usually AVG/OBP/SLG. If you want to add OPS you should add another slash and put it at the end. Don't remove OBP - AVG/SLG/OPS isn't a thing.
  20. Rumors are starting about the Red Sox selling Alex Bregman. That's exactly what the Twins need.
  21. Kody Clemens has a shot at MLB player of the month of May.
