  1. This is for the All-Star Game, not the Boring Mediocre Player Showcase.
  2. Yes. Do you know how hard it is to hit .300 in the majors right now? There are only 14 qualified players with an average > .300.
  3. Crazy stat from the MLB.com recap. Since the Twins acquired Kody Clemens he has out-hit both Judge and Ohtani (over the same time period).
  4. Fedko probably deserves a AAA promotion at some point this season. He's getting regular playing time at Double-A and that's probably more important.
  5. That's roughly equivalent to .193/.298/.378 in MLB.
  6. The lighting must be awful in Tampa. The players on TV are so grainy that I feel like I'm watching on KMSP over rabbit ears like when I was a kid.
  7. Bride can pinch-hit for Wallner or Larnach in a platoon matchup. If they pinch-hit for Lewis (and they should often) he can come in to play 3B on defense.
  8. I disagree with the assertion that Royce Lewis is healthy and able to contribute.
  9. Is Arcia any better than Brooks Lee?
  10. I think Wallner could provide the big boost they need. The positions that have underperformed the most are 3B, 2B and 1B. Lewis can play a helluva lot better than he's playing right now. Castro and Lee haven't been great at the plate but they're doing a lot better than Lewis.
  11. I guess I'm not that impressed with a player at a bat-first position hitting .250 with mediocre power and no walks. Ty France would be a plus contributor on offense if he was the catcher but not as a first baseman. You can pretty much multiply his current stats by 3 to get a good estimate of season totals. That would give him 140 hits, 24 2B, 12 HR, 30 BB, 90 K. That seems adequate, not "crazy good". One interesting thing I noticed - he has 8 HBP vs 10 BB. He is able to get on base by leaning into a pitch. His production in May (579 OPS) has dipped from April (745 OPS). If he doesn't bounce back, he'll be replaced before the season is over.
  12. I don't think "fans" like that even enjoy baseball anyway. I'd rather not have them at the games. They'll turn every run scored by the other team or error by a Twins player into a situation where they boo and act like jackasses to draw attention to themselves.
  13. It also acknowledges that no human can watch every pitch of every game. That's 40+ hours of major league baseball a day to digest. Add in up to 200 hours a day of minor league games, 1000 hours a day of NCAA baseball, etc.
  14. 679 OPS with RISP, 2 outs. It's more damning of the other hitters that this is who you would choose. I think it's more short memory than anything else. Kody Clemens has done more clutch damage this season. Jeffers, Bader, Buxton and Larnach have had their clutch moments, too.
  15. Willi Castro. They're going to get 5 WAR from him over 3 seasons for $11M. France isn't even the best "value" signing of the most recent offseason. Bader and Coulombe have both been better signings.
  16. That's an interesting take on a player who had his peak 2020-2022. He's clearly worse at hitting now than he was then. He's also clearly NOT an All-Star. Buxton is having an All-Star season. So is Joe Ryan. Bader, Lopez and Duran have had good seasons. Kody Clemens has been playing out of his mind. Ty France would be about 15th-20th on my ranking of Twins who should play in the All-Star game.
  17. I think the Orioles may have thrown in the towel on 2025. The Cubs will be looking for pitching.
  18. He's a 0.0 WAR first baseman. Julien and Miranda have been awful, but that doesn't mean Ty France has been especially good. It's been a really bad season for first basemen in MLB, which makes him look better in comparison, but he's been worth what they paid for him. He's hitting about exactly the same as Willi Castro. The trendline is heading down; 567 OPS in May. If France has some magical clutchness ability, can he turn it on when things aren't so clutch so he can help the team more? Far more likely the author is reading into the randomness of small sample sizes.
