  1. It would not be a shock to see the Twins acquire pitching at the trade deadline.
  2. Interesting. Only interested in Flaming Lips though so I'm out at those prices.
  3. Will Kirilloff play 5 days a week for the Twins? They have plenty of other options at the positions Alex plays. He could easily play 3-4 days a week without figuring in the injury.
  4. Get the best talent is the only priority. If they need to adjust their roster they should do it by trade. Never reach to fill an organizational need.
  5. Mark Contreras is a good benchmark for how well a prospect needs to hit to get promoted. Nobody think Contreras will hit well enough at the MLB level to contribute so Kirilloff and Julien probably need to perform better than Contreras if they want to force a promotion.
  6. An injury means the can call up a player without waiting the full time.
  7. I'm guessing they option Moran and bring up Winder next. Stewart isn't a long reliever but he's been piling up strikeouts as a short reliever.
  8. I'm not either but I also think he's not likely to get a whole lot better. He's sort of useful but unlikely to be a high leverage guy.
  9. Pitching like this he's likely 4 year $100M+ in the offseason. Enjoy this year, give him the QO and get the draft pick. He's been fantastic so far, a clear All-Star candidate.
  10. He pitched 5 innings, 6 innings, then got hit in the foot by a line drive after 2 innings. I don't see this statement backed up by any evidence.
  11. I don't. I think Lewis is a better baseball player and the Twins are a better team with Lewis at 3B long term instead of Miranda. Do I want Michael Taylor to fail if I think the Twins are better off with Buxton in CF? Miranda's biggest problem at the moment is his lack of power. Just 2 extra base hits in 96 plate appearances. He's better than that. The batting average and walks are not a big surprise, just slightly below expectations. He's only 2 hits below last season's rate for AVG/OBP. In two weeks he will have played one season's worth of games in the big leagues. Then you can start to project based on that larger sample of work.
  12. Patiently waiting for Royce Lewis to take his job.
  13. Nope. 25th, almost the same as Seattle and better than the Dodgers, A's, Padres, Tigers and Royals.
  14. I read he needs four root canals next week so probably a little while longer.
  15. This could be the worst attended weekend series of the season. Weather looks awful.
  16. RE: Not stealing due to the injury risk - at some point you need to use the players to play baseball.
  17. If Maeda is on the IL they can recall Varland or Ober without making a 40 man roster move.
  18. Not to mention he's the backup CF on the roster if Taylor gets hurt.
  19. I actually hope the Rays get out of St. Petersburg and INTO Tampa. They could draw fans if they weren't surrounded by water on all sides.
  20. Last offer from the local government was $400M toward the new stadium in Oakland. Smart decision by the city of Oakland to not bankrupt itself when locals who want to see MLB can take the ferry to a Giants game. They could move the Las Vegas AAA team to Oakland and we could see the Oakland Oaks return to the Pacific Coast League.
  21. Someone else will get hurt by then. It's nearly impossible to keep 13 players all healthy at the same time. The worrying about "What will we do when everyone is healthy?" is like worrying "What if the Tuesday night Royals game sells out at Target Field?".
  22. Just like every other lineup in major league baseball. The Twins are just slightly below average at striking out. The Washington Nationals are a league best 110 Ks but they also don't hit any home runs.
