    I've been told by many posters here that "second half Joe" will tank 2027 all on his own.

    What is the benefit to the Twins in September, 2027? They would have to be in the playoff hunt, but getting really terrible production out of their current catchers - like the situation we just saw with Kaelen Culpepper.

    Quentin Young finishes the season with 197 strikeouts in 105 games. Elijah Green leads MiLB with 206 Ks but Young has a great chance to end the year in 2nd place.

    I hope he has three dominant starts, including one against the Yankees, to finish the season with maximum trade value.

    He doesn’t belong in AAA.

    Nearly every player who has played in MLB has needed an adjustment period. Some are immediate, others after the scouting reports reveal a weakness. Ryan Kreidler is actually the best argument for promoting both Culpepper and Jenkins. Not hard to exceed his production.

    Do not sit the kids in favor of veterans now.

    I expect this will be the root cause of a “sophomore slump”. Keaschall and Lee each had to learn that lesson.

    The only positive is they might have not traded for Hoffman. They get their reliever and keep Dasan Hill.

    There are no analytics that tell you to punt the SS position and fill the roster with poor defense, LH platoon bats. There are no analytics that tell you to avoid the free agent market for relievers in the offseason. There are no analysts telling people to develop all your minor league pitchers for a 3-inning role that doesn’t exist in the majors or to develop your minor league hitters to play defensive positions they can’t handle in the majors.

    He had nothing left to accomplish in AAA. It was time to bring him up. Failure is part of learning.

    “Walker Jenkins sure has a lot more swing-and-miss in his game than anticipated. It probably is too soon to bench him, but it sure would be nice if he could make some good contact ahead in the count.” This is a great time for Jenkins to fail - in games that seem to matter but actually don’t matter. Keep exposing his flaws to give him something tangible to work on over the winter.

    19 games left and they’re 7 games under .500. They need to go 13-6 just to get back to .500 and that won’t get them in the playoffs. Playoffs will probably require 15-4. My guess is they go 8-11 to finish 76-86.

    Difficult to expect a team that can’t win 50% of its games to suddenly start winning 70% to get into the playoffs.

    “The Twins head to Detroit for a three-game series with the Tigers. The Twins have not announced a starter, but it would figure to be Connor Prielipp’s turn” Joe Ryan is pitching on Monday. Just a hunch, but Acton likely loses his spot on the big league roster.

    Offense in the minors is 20% higher than in the majors.

    There is a minimum pop time needed to play catcher in the majors. Walks can’t turn into triples. If he can achieve that, he seems to have enough bat to contribute. We will see how he performs next season in St Paul.

    Six games under with 20 remaining. 14-6 is the minimum they need. Toronto looks like the team that will ride a hot streak into the playoffs.

    Jenkins benched for Ryan Kreidler tonight. Already a platoon player.

    Who is passing judgement? Byron Buxton struggled in his first major league games. So did many, many other successful players. Rookies who come up and perform immediately are the exception.

    100% player development. You can’t hold players back trying to win minor league trophies.
