    If you think Vazquez only has a 15% chance of getting the bunt down, then it's probably the right move. I'm betting he gets a hit less than 15% of the time against Hader.

    Almost always, but not when the #9 hitter with a batting average of less than .200 is up to the plate and the top of the lineup is coming up behind him. That's the sometimes, rarely counterexample.

    You're betting on 13-25 between now and July 31. I'll take the over. They play 9 games against the Rockies, Marlins and Pirates in July.

    Bride isn't walking as many batters as Raya and has a lower RA9. They both have a WHIP > 2.

    "only 9 games out of 1st place" is a lot of games out of 1st place. I think there is merit to dealing this year and pushing chips in on next year. My list wouldn't be as long as the list above (keep Larnach and Duran) but I'd be open to selling if the team is .500 at the deadline. If they slip below .500 again, it's a clear sell. You can't count on another 13 game win streak. It's a difficult decision. This team has been streaky as hell so you can't rule out a win streak in October.

    All 4 of those pitchers profile as relievers if they ever make the majors. This cadence gets them more innings than they would if they were strictly 1-inning relievers. Not a bad way to develop future bullpen arms.

    He could probably add marginal value in the near-term over Woods-Richardson. However, when Zebby Matthews returns, SWR will be headed back to the minor leagues. Now you have Civale on the team, so they'll be forced to either cut their brand-new acquisition or send Festa down to the minors. In that situation you have a veteran re-tread blocking a more talented minor leaguer who might actually be part of the team's future. I've read thousands of words on Twins Daily from people who are really tired of seeing below average veterans block rookies from getting playing time. They don't desperately need Civale right now, they'll probably need him even less later. If they happen to need a 5th starter in the future it shouldn't be that hard to find some other veteran off a bad team's roster.

    Are there even 5 guys like that in the entire league? Skenes and Skubal are leading the league in IP and they're about 6.4 innings per game.

    Keaschall adds a lot as the 13th player on the roster. Bride, not so much. However, all it takes is one Royce Lewis muscle pull and they'll be glad they have Bride in the organization.

    Yes, but not one above A-ball. You usually have to choose between floor and ceiling when acquiring prospects.

    The idea of a 4-man rotation has some merit. That's one fewer starting pitcher you need to have on the depth chart. Workloads on starting pitchers have been drastically reduced compared to where we were in the 1980s when the 5-man rotation was created. Nobody is throwing 120-130 pitches in a game in 2025. If someone only throws 75-80 pitches, do they need 4 days to recover? Is it better to use a Game/OFF/Practice/OFF schedule? The tricky part is you lose a starter but only gain one reliever back. Piggy-back of starters doesn't help - that trades a 5-man rotation for an 8-man rotation when the whole point is to maximize your top 4 pitchers. Even a 9-man bullpen is going to be gassed trying to cover 5 innings every night. Some team is going to be brave and go back to a 4-man rotation but still try to get 90 pitches out of the starters.

    The best value acquisitions at the deadline are veteran role players and bullpen arms. There are players who could help, but there are also no glaring needs. There's always room for another reliever.

    Gabriel Gonzalez is the guy I'd be looking to trade. He's increased his value this season. He's not going to beat out Walker Jenkins for a job.

    Bader isn't even mentioned in the article and he's been the 2nd best outfielder on the team.

    Clemens had an incredible May while Lewis couldn't buy a hit. Lee wasn't great in May either. That's changed over the past 2 weeks but I can't blame the Twins for riding the hot hand. I also think Lewis is still rehabbing his injury which would explain the extra off days. Sitting him every 3rd day might be what is keeping him in the lineup the other 2 days.

    If they were going to cut Alcala, they could just cut Alcala instead of putting Pablo on the 60 day IL. I think they're going to option Topa to the minors. Another thought. They can option Alcala if he consents to it. That might happen.
