  1. If they put Paddack in the bullpen and keep Castellano and Henriquez, they will only have one spot left for pitchers with options remaining. Jax, Duran, Stewart, Tonkin, Paddack, Castellano, Henriquez That leaves one spot remaining for Topa, Alcala, Sands, Varland, Headrick, Funderburk, Canterino or Adams.
  2. Did not realize the Royals outfield was this bad. They should be able to improve by picking up scraps at the end of free agency.
  3. It should improve their severance package when the new owner fires everyone.
  4. I think you are both underrating Willi Castro and overrating Michael Helman. There is a big difference between MLB and AAA.
  5. The Twins are going to find it difficult to keep all of their relievers. Tonkin, Stewart and Henriquez are out of options. Castellano can't be optioned due to Rule 5. Jax and Duran aren't getting optioned. That's 6 of the 8 spots. For the remaining two spots they will have to pick from Alcala, Sands, Topa, Funderburk, Varland, Headrick, Canterino and Adams.
  6. You think they should limit his innings more? He's pitched 85 innings in 6 seasons as a professional. If he can't pitch 60 innings in a season, then he's worthless as a major league pitcher.
  7. Do you think hitters are significantly better at recognizing borderline ball/strike pitches than umpires? I don't. Hitters routinely chase pitches out of the zone. How chase rate factors into 2024 World Series
  8. I would. He hasn't pitched in two years and threw a grand total of 85 innings from 2019-2022. If they can find someone that can actually help this season they should waive him. I'm actually shocked he's still on the roster.
  9. I wouldn't be surprised if Canterino passed through waivers without getting claimed. Roster spots are hard to come by at the moment.
  10. Umpires call 97% of pitches correctly. Believe it or Not, Umpires Are More Accurate Than Ever | Pitcher List Strike Three?! Let’s Check in on Umpire Accuracy | FanGraphs Baseball
  11. More comps - Michael Conforto, Cory Snyder, Colby Rasmus, Max Kepler
  12. How many AAA teams do they need to fill roster spots for?
  13. The Twins signed Armando Alvarez to a minor league deal. Guess that means it's time to trade Royce Lewis!
  14. If everyone is healthy, two of those things will happen even with Paddack in the rotation.
  15. The Twins aren't big fans of $7.5M relief pitchers. Paddack in the bullpen means some combination of a) losing Ronny Henriquez on waivers (out of options) b) optioning Topa and/or Alcala to the minors c) no lefty in the bullpen d) returning Eiberson Castellano to the Phillies
  16. Why do we want to keep a mediocre pitcher to block the pathway for our rookie class? The rookie pitchers in AAA (Festa, Matthews, Morris, Raya) have a lot more potential than the rookie OF/1B types (Helman, Keirsey, Gasper, Martin). I'd much rather start the season with Festa in the rotation and Andujar in the OF than I would with Paddack in the rotation and Austin Martin in the OF.
  17. Oakland is looking to add another starting pitcher and they need to add payroll to avoid a grievance filed by the MLBPA. Miguel Andujar is a mediocre corner outfielder with a $3M pricetag. He hits lefties well and can also play 1B. Paddack for Andujar could work.
  18. The games are about an hour longer than they were when Bench was catching, or at least they were before the pitch clock was implemented. That's an extra half hour in a squat every night. The playoffs are also 2 weeks longer and teams want to have their best catcher productive for that whole month. Finally, I think the worst players have gotten better so the gap between your beat-up starter and a fresh backup is smaller than it was in the 1970s.
  19. He has one option left. He was added young enough that he might get a 4th option season.
  20. That's his real photo. Go ahead and search on google images.
