    Pereda has been much better. Vazquez shouldn’t get more than a minor league contract. He is likely to hit even worse next season. I am guessing he will retire.

    When you have three .300 hitters in a row, there is a 2.7% chance of stringing three consecutive hits together. When you have three .240 hitters in a row, there is a 1.3% chance - less than half as likely. When you have three .200 hitters in a row that drops to 0.8% or 1/3 as likely.

    Fedko has only played 32 games at 1B - 19 of them this season. He's still playing more LF than 1B at St. Paul.

The other 10 seasons came before the DH rule except for 2018, which was a season that prompted adding the DH to the NL full-time.

    Keaschall is sure to improve as he rehabs his arm. Right now he can't throw at all which gives him no chance to make an off-balance play.

    The Twins have been devaluing defense at 2B for at least a quarter century. Luis Rivas, Todd Walker, Brendan Harris, Alexi Casilla, Michael Cuddyer, Brian Dozier was a decent fielder and he might be the only one developed by the Twins. Free agents Schoop, Orlando Hudson and Luis Castillo could play defense but it wasn't valued highly enough to keep them on the team long-term.

    He's pitched 22 innings. This is the problem with people constantly asking for the next minor leaguer to be promoted to "see if they can help". The Twins know a tiny bit more about whether Ohl can help than they did before they promoted him. They knew his pitch mix and how effective his pitches were likely to be and he's performing within the most likely range of expectations given how he pitched in the minors. Is there a benefit to the Twins in calling up the next guy who was worse than Ohl to see how that guy will do?

    It might make a difference to the 2027 team to acquire Hendry Mendez for Bader. Danny Coulombe returned a pitcher who could be useful. Bad teams should try to pick up MLB veterans for below-market cost in case they're tradeable in June. It's a lot better idea than giving innings to AAA veterans like Keirsey and Gasper.

    The problem with using prospects before they're ready is you throw away the seasons when they're actually good. If Culpepper was ready to play for the Twins next season, he probably wouldn't be in Double-A right now. If they bring him up and he sucks they throw away a season of team control when he is 29 and might actually be good. Which year of Culpepper's career do you want - age 23 where he's overmatched and struggling or age 29 when he might be an above-average starter? Adding IK-F is exactly "filling the roster with defensive talent cheaply". I'm surprised you aren't equally upset that they would block Tait with Vazquez. I could make the same argument. in reverse Why sign Vazquez when they can go with top prospect Tait and let him develop at the MLB level? Tait is only one level behind Culpepper in the minors.

    Funderburk, Adams and Ohl are getting plenty of innings in the bullpen.

    They have the payroll space available to add the players they need to compete. There is no reason they have to wait until 2028.

    I think they will - in the second half of 2026 - when Culpepper is ready to debut. Until then I would like to see them put someone at SS who can field so Taj Bradley can have an ERA below 7. If this was true, then the Twins would have a really good defensive team right now. Their current team is lousy on defense and lousy on offense.

    Buxton, Jenkins, Rodriguez, Roden and Martin could be a really good fielding outfield.

    Julien is a lousy first baseman, possibly worse than he is at second base. He's run out of defensive positions to try. Zebby clearly struck a batter out, but the umpire missed it. That turned into runs. Plus, the defense behind him was not good. He has an ERA of 5.06 and a FIP of 3.66.

    The Loons are never going to get me into that stadium as long as they keep playing Wonderwall.

    Would you rather go without a shortstop? They don't have an MLB caliber shortstop on the current roster.

    I would rather have IKF than no-hit no-field Julien. They need a SS who can field. There aren't very many stopgap options. They aren't going to pay for Ha-Seong Kim. A 1 WAR player isn't good but is still worth more than a -1 WAR player like Julien or Fitzgerald.
