  1. I don't expect him to be a regular, just like I don't expect that out of Keirsey. I am hopeful they can come up from the minors and fill-in adequately until the regulars are healthy again.
  2. If they have to shelter him for the whole season, then he's probably not worth keeping. He should improve as the year goes on.
  3. Due to injuries the alternative to Castellano making the roster is Scott Blewett making the roster. I don't think that is much better.

  5. Confirmation bias. Steroids helped a lot of players recover faster from injury. Should we bring back steroids and HGH?
  6. Position players threw 7 innings last year and Dobnak threw 9.2. Cole Irvin had 3.2 innings and Jay Jackson pitched 26.1. There are definitely low-leverage innings to eat.
  7. It feels like the Dodgers have this thing wrapped up in March.
  8. 26 is not young for a baseball player. He's right in the middle of his career. Manny Margot is 30 and his career is almost over.
  9. Plus, the longer you delay the decision, the more likely it doesn't need to be made. Castellano could get better, which means you don't want to return him. He could get a minor injury, which means you can max out his injury rehab and give him some time in the minors. He could have a major injury, which delays the decision another year.
  10. This is part of the reason MLB increased the size of the base.
  11. If Julien hasn't learned to play first base after an offseason and all of spring training, then he's unlikely to do it at AAA. Either he has the ability to do it, or he doesn't. It doesn't take years to learn that footwork. Good athletes, like Joe Mauer, pick it up in a few weeks. Just play him at DH.
  12. I think Julien is mostly a finished product as a fielder. You could send him to AAA for years and he wouldn't get much better.
  13. Raya's hurt right now. I imagine he will spend time in St. Paul this summer. So will CJ Culpepper.
  14. I don't think the Twins are worried about putting Gasper on the bench most days. I don't think the same is true about Brooks Lee; they will want Lee to play everyday somewhere.
  15. I agree that Castro is needed in the infield at 2B and 3B pretty much every day.
  16. I don't think they want to make him a full-time DH.
  17. Why keep Aaron Sabato around?
  18. I would guess he passes through waivers pretty easily.
  19. Probably, players usually lose velocity with a labrum injury. To be fair, his career never really began.
  20. Let's be clear that all of these guys are getting reps at more than one position in spring training. Most reps happen in practice, not during games.
  21. Lee has less range than Lewis, runs slower and has a weaker arm. It might be Brooks Lee who ends up at 1B. I still think the solution to having two starting-caliber 3B is to trade one of them for something else.
