  1. I would be shocked if they owed that debt to someone other than themselves.
  2. Jax and Duran will have plenty of interested buyers. I am expecting Willi Castro, Harrison Bader and several relievers (Stewart, Topa, Coulombe, Tonkin) to be traded at the deadline. A rebuild has to happen.
  3. The weak spot tonight was pitchers throwing to 1B.
  4. His best projection is .250/.310/.375 and his worst is .225/.275/.335. I'd say there's an 70% chance his production is in that range.
  5. He did not. An 850 OPS in AAA is not impressive, especially for a 27-year-old. Good hitters put up an OPS > 1000 in AAA. Alex Kirilloff had an OPS > 1100 in AAA.
  6. Easier than 3-4 innings per game and 5-15 games per season? Should they have made him the 1-inning opener for one game per week? There is NO logic involved in your reasoning. It's almost impossible for a pitcher to be used more lightly than the Twins used Canterino.
  7. If they add 30 innings to Raya's workload every year it will only take 2 more years before he's ready to pitch a full season in the major leagues. Of course, that all gets blown up if there is an injury setback in which case he'll never be ready to pitch a full season as a starter in the major leagues. I agree 100% with this. If you want to develop a pitcher you have to give him innings. An A-ball pitcher who has been turned into a reliever means the org believes there is no upside. Even if Prielipp's future is in the bullpen, they should have him making 3-inning starts in the minors. Your starting pitchers are guys who can get outs without using max effort on every pitch. The human arm can't withstand max effort for 110 pitches a game. You can't sprint for a mile.
  8. Gasper will go down for Lee in a few days. I expect Lee will become the starter at 3B with Miranda going to the bench. I think they will make the Mathews for Paddack move but it will probably take a couple more turns in the rotation. Keaschall isn't coming up anytime soon. He's still rehabbing his arm and splitting time between 2B and DH. I don't think it would help his development to just DH and they aren't going to demote Castro from 2B. At some point I think they need to address what to do with Vazquez.
  9. Thanks for pointing that out. I was flipping between the Twins and the basketball game.
  10. We may see the team pivot this year from thinking short-term (compete in 2025) to longer-term (compete in 2026-27). It could happen as soon as May. That could affect how they develop all of their minor league pitchers.
  11. Keirsey is not a young player. He is probably getting more playing time than he has earned. Gasper, on paper, is a player who might keep you from losing but won't help you win. Martin is the same. Rearranging the bench players isn't going to get it done. They need Correa to hit consistently to win. They need Larnach to hit for power.
  12. How does a home plate umpire not grant a "disengagement"? If a pitcher steps off the rubber and throws to first, can the umpire ignore that, say it wasn't a disengagement and call a ball on the pitcher?
  13. I'm not sure giving up home runs and walks for contact is all that encouraging. The batting average will come up but a team ISO OBP of .070 is not great and an ISO SLG of .115 is just as bad. An offense that can't get on base or hit for power is going to be bad. Assuming they get to league average for batting average they'll hit .240/.310/.355 as a team which would put them in the bottom 10 teams. That's an OPS+ of around 90-95. It's 2025 - someone needs to hit dingers.
  14. They might not have to pitch 2-3 full innings. Coulombe faced one batter, why can't he pitch in the next inning?
  15. Ober's velocity was quite a bit below last season. His fastball was 90-91 and he clearly labored to get through 4 innings. Buxton's speed is in the 99th percentile on Baseball Savant this season - 29.5 ft/sec. He's fast as hell right now.
  16. That's most of it. How many players do the Twins have who the Dodgers, Yankees, Mets or Phillies would prefer over their own players? Are there any position players? I think it would be mostly pitching. I think the Central is still winnable, because those teams are also all flawed. Every win will matter, which is why a new manager might be necessary. Rocco isn't the worst MLB manager but he's also not the best.
  17. I don't think rearranging the hitters is going to help. If they want more offense, they'll need to trade pitching to get it. The only minor leaguer who looks like an upgrade on offense is Camargo over Vazquez. They need a bat at 1B.
  18. Mostly nothing for mostly nothing. The Twins made the trade worse by keeping Margot on the roster for the whole season instead of cutting bait when it was apparent that his athleticism had declined.
  19. A team of mostly the same players is playing mostly the same as they did last season. Ty France also looks mostly the same as he did last season. Christian Vazquez doesn't have a hit or a walk but somehow managed to get caught stealing.
