    I Kind of have a thing for Cole Carrig. Wouldn't mind grabbing him in the second round if he falls that far. Just love the versatility and he has been the same bat the last two years at about .930 OPS and an over .300 batting average. He is a 60 runner with a 60 arm. A very well rounded player. MLB.com gives the bat a 55 but I wonder how well it translates as he currently lacks power. He could go in the lower half of the first round if scouts feel the bat holds up. Agreed that he might not stick at catcher but if he did make it there he would have an awesome skillset for a catcher. Still would be valuable in center and maybe short as well. Hard to say where he will fall but I Would love it if the Twins grabbed him. Don't generally like grabbing high school catchers as they are very volatile when it comes to working out. Best to let them go the college route and see what they look like there before popping a high pick there IMO. I have liked what the Twins have been doing grabbing college catchers in the 9, 10, 11 area of the draft. They also picked up a fairly highly rated international catcher signing this year as well. I don't see them going catcher early in this draft but you never know as it is the biggest weakness in the system right now.

    Will have to keep a closer on Aria. Good lefties can be hard to find. Very excited to see Cossetti off to a good start. It is a long season for all the players but even more so for catchers who are almost always dinged up.

    I like the hot and cold emojis and as already stated the parentheses Stats. Several of the quick writeups gave a lot of information in an efficient but fun manner. Thanks again! I can't think of anything off the top of my head to add. Just fun to keep track of the week to week progress or lack thereof for the Twins prospects.

    All I can say is that I am relieved they signed him. I was afraid he might not sign an extension and the Twins would only have him for two years after giving up a really good bat to get him. Also as others have mentioned with Gray, Mahle and Maeda all free agents the end of this year it was going to create a lot of uncertainty for the future rotation. With Ryan, Lopez, Ober, Varland and Paddack they should have a solid staff for next year and if they can extend Gray that would help even more. The Twins have a top 2 and maybe more depending on how some arms develop. I am really glad they got this deal done early. Now we just need to hope for good health.

    Pitcher of the week for me is Matthews. I did not see him performing this well this early. Not that I knew a ton about him to begin with but that kind of domination gets me excited. Kyle Jones being a level higher certainly fits as well it is just that Matthews shiny zero ERA trumps all for me. I really think Ben Ross is going to be a steal. 4 for 4 days are hard to come by and I think he could be a special hitter if he can keep the K's down and maybe walk more. Also liked what Miller did with his eye at the plate and hitting the ball a bit better too although this week not quite as well. He also is a defensive asset so very well rounded player as long as he keeps his bat going. E-Rod is special too but lack of plate discipline has me concerned. He is gonna have to find the patience he had last year if he wants to move up. He has an amazing powerful swing that covers a lot of the plate but he needs to stop chasing to make that swing pay off.     I like him as a reliever would need to show me more to be a starter. He has been a bit up and down this year with hittable outings and then unhittable ones. Spring makes it tough to evaluate much though. Hoping he can turn into a 5th starter type but will have to wait and see. At any rate I think he is a good pick for the Sands roll and being a lefty should give the other team a different look. If he makes it as 9th round pick that is a good outcome.

    I guess if you think our pitchers are doing the same thing maybe they would but I haven’t seen any umpire take this much interest in a pitcher coming off the mound so far. Also if Twins pitchers are doing the same thing why complain? I don’t think they have to much to fear but who knows.

    Yeah pretty brutal day with loss's all around. Happy to see Ben Ross with a big 4 for 4 day. He is looking like a steal right now. Just needs to tap in to more power and he is on his way up. Hopefully Sunday is a better day.

    Maybe German cheated maybe he didn't it is hard to say. I do tend to agree with Rocco though. The ump felt there was some stickiness that shouldn't be there and it remained. I think it was fair for Rocco to question the process. One good thing that should come out of this is MLB and the umpires will be looking very closely at Yankee pitchers from here on out. They won't get away with something like this again.

    Correa with three of the four RBI’s. He was the difference maker offensively in that game. Nice to see him take a game over and carry the team on his back.

    Varland with a great recovery. I kind of thought the game might get out of hand. I honestly can't believe the Twins won two in a row at Yankee Stadium. Hell must frozen over.

    Happy to see Ober back on track. The control problems had me worried there for a second. Probably just the cold weather that was bothering him some. Wondering and hoping if Bechtold can keep his bat hot enough to get called up at some point. He looks really good at third base defensively. He looks like a beast at the plate and has been hitting like one to start the season. Really happy to see Miller hitting well to start the season. He started hot last year as well so consistency will be key. Ben Ross hitting for power is also good to see. If he keeps this up he will be moving up the top 30 list. Enlow looked real good through 4 and then it looked like he ran out of gas. If he can get back to where he was or slightly better pre surgery he could be valuable number 4 or 5 or long reliever. Lot's of guys off to good starts just hope everyone stays healthy.

    Yeah that is what I see as well. He doesn't look quite the same as last year yet, IMO. Yep like everyone is saying it is early and April is generally a tough month for hitters as pitchers arms are strong and in good shape and the weather can make a hitter cold in more ways than one. Still he isn't making as much contact as he normally does to this point. Hopefully he warms with the weather.

    Yeah he went from the best bat on the team to going 0 for 10 I believe. Hoping he gets his groove back. He has been there done that before against lefties so there's a decent chance he gets out of his current funk. I just can't believe we are already to the break glass in case of emergency players.

    Luna got my attention last night. He is older at 26 with some mixed results stat wise. He had a very rough year last year but his 2021 was pretty good. Not sure what he throws or how hard but domination like that generally doesn't come easy. Hard to say how tough the opposing lineup is as well but at any rate that was a very good start. Still watching Ohl who had a tough start to his pro career but really came on strong mid year last year. Guy does not like to walk anybody so was surprised he even had one walk in the box score. He just attacks all the time. Have to believe that is gonna pay off for him in the end as he will know what works and what doesn't as he moves around the zone. Hoping he can be a 4th 5th starter type at some point. Headrick was looking more like his old self in this one. Happy to see a quick bounce back. Still have high hopes for him. Rodriguez has no trouble accessing power. Hopefully he can find a bit more consistent contact though.

    Can't say for sure but it seems like the trainer\training staff are trying to get players back to essentially 100% before having them play even when injuries are minor. Kepler could probably play through the knee soreness. Gallo said his side was sore but could play. Correa could likely play with back spasms. I am sure Buxton could probably play center if needed. So far all of them are limited or not playing. They have depth built in this year and I think they don't want to play players hurt where they can slowly degrade physically. I don't know if that is a Paparesta philosophy or just a change in philosophy but it looks like they are going to put a lot of emphasis on nipping these small injuries early so they don't turn into bigger ones or degrade future performance. IMO we will have to wait and see how it works out. Having a healthy team at the end of the year would be a huge advantage. What is the old saying an ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure. Looks like the Twins are putting that advice in play.

    Always nice when pitchers are ready to go at the start of season, Varland, Festa and Matthews all looked great out of the gate. Have to say Festa was fantastic. He just needed to shore that third pitch and ring guys up when he gets to two strikes. If he keeps this up could he be mid rotation starter material? Garlic still looks too good to be at AAA as does Jullien. They just need to keep doing what they are doing and I am sure they will get there. I have been watching Fajardo who seems like Schuffield type player with really good bat to ball skills. Not sure what other tools he brings but if the bat plays all the way up he could be something. So far Miller getting hits which is what he needs to do. I am still concerned about power as even his one double was dribbled to the outfield. Still early and the weather far from ideal. Lot's of players doing well can't wait for the sample sizes to expand and see who pushes their way up.

    Not sure why all the starter seem to want to give up 4 runs but Ryan, Mahle and now Meada all gave up four runs and why they like to throw cookies down the middle with men on base for HR's is another question to be answered. With this anemic offense they need to get back to giving up zero runs right quick. Anyway the with B team out there they were essentially conceding this game and yet these guys (with the help of Chicago's defense) pushed Cease to 100 pitches by the 5th inning and were just 1 run behind. Given that it seemed this wouldn't be an overly competitive lineup they had to be happy to see Cease leave and yet they didn't score after he left. It was close but no cigar again which is becoming a theme for this team. Hopefully they get things going tomorrow and the next day as their luck with the Yankee's and with Ryan, Mahle and Maeda giving up 4 runs a game things don't look good. I don't see much winning happening that series. They really could have used this one. Gotta break that Bronx jinx I guess.

    Yeah I don't get it and it is not like Canterino is young he is 25 so even if you are starting the clock it shouldn't really matter especially since he seems likely to be a pen arm. Still can't think of any other reasons though.

    I think because it counts as MLB time\Salary? Only reason I can think of for not wanting to do it but don't know if that is the reason.

    I didn't see this coming this early in the season but Matt has a fair number of things in common with Gallo he just doesn't run quite as well so he should be a solid replacement. Hopefully he doesn't expand the zone too much and I think he will be just fine. MLB pitchers make it tough on hitters but he was there last year so should have an idea what to expect. Happy for Matt and hope he does enough to stay with the big club.

    Other than Varland and Rodriguez it seems like the pitchers have struggled at AAA to start the year. I am sure the weather and the fact the iCubs seem to have a good hitters lineup isn't helping but was hoping for a better start on the pitching side. I don't know why but I have a thing about Rodriguez. He seems like a MLB pitcher to me. It felt like last year there were just times he ran out of gas and gave up lots of hits and runs that impacted his numbers. I don't know how all his pitches rate and how hard he throws so maybe I am missing something but I feel like he proved last year that he should get a shot IMO. Schuffield 2 for 3 with 1.867 OPS. I still think they should have started him at AA where they could use better bats. Miller with his first extra base hit which was nice to see but he K'd 3 times as well. Tough outing for Prielipp but the pen was outstanding. I felt like moving Adams to AA might not work out well and watching the game on MiLB he did not look good. In time I am sure he will get better but the Texas league is tough on pitchers. I don't know how good Peoria is as it is so early but I think the Muscles are going to be hard to beat this year.

    I am pretty sure it was @DocBauer (maybe he will confirm) who was the only one I remember being high on Matthews. He has a starters build but his college stats kind of screamed reliever to me. Maybe he has that third pitch to make it. So hard to know how drafted pitchers will work out. Doc seemed pretty convinced he would be a good one. Maybe he had some better info on him. Have to say that was the best debut out of the starting pitchers in their first look so far. Not sure why they held what looks like their best arm for the third start but he looked great last night.
