I think he has already expressed his thoughts and this seems like an essay written because we have nothing else to talk about.

I have to update - we brought Baddoo back to the organization. Do I expect anything good? No, But we have that great name back -
Minneapolis/St. Paul Was Supposed to be an Expansion Team!
mikelink45 commented on Paul D's blog entry in Paul Danesi
You missed what was key for me and a disappointment "Weiner writes that on January 25, 1954, Horace Stoneman of the Giants was in Minneapolis, and spilled his plans to move the Giants to Minneapolis, “probably to the new stadium that would somehow be built on his land on Highway 12. The Giants’ relocation would be part of a move to send the Cincinnati Reds to New York in exchange for the Giants move to the Twin Cities. Cincinnati was then the smallest market in the big leagues.” I was a Braves fan and really wanted the NL to be here. Of course I went on to be an usher in the Twins first year so everything turned out well. -
Can Twins Rookies Avoid the Regression Bug?
mikelink45 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
These comments really cover everything. I agree with Wallner being the most obvious regression candidate. I also agree that Correa can salvage a lot with a return to dominance. Buxton is not one I count - I would like to, But perhaps my biggest regression choice is Castro.- 38 replies

I would put out this ballot - in order as far as deserving the vote Beltre Mauer - his peak years were long enough and great enough that he deserves to be in. Injuries have kept out other, but to me his peak was long enough that like Kirby he would have gotten in if he had retired immediately Beltran - We are going to get many Astros in and if we can accept Correa, we should vote for Carlos. That is it for me. Wagner would be #4 but I am not enamored with RP. Sheffield's behavior coupled with his horrible defense loses me. I like a complete player. That is another reason I have never been a Jones advocate. Not sure I buy the greatest CF fielder rhetoric and he fell off a cliff offensively without the injury that Joe had. Utley never ever felt like a HOF to me. Good player yes not getting my vote. I am a small Hall person. That said I expect all of them to get in eventually.

Miguel Sano is on the Comeback Trail
mikelink45 replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I am really happy to get a Sano update. I have been curious, but no I do not want to see him back Terry Ryan used to give exTwins a final landing pad - it did not work out, The real ex-Twin news is Garver now a Mariner -
Then let's see the competition mlb wide - Perez (both of them) have longevity and defense - far below Mauer of Offense. AJ? Good player with a seemingly bad personality. MN nice wins there. The only competition is in SF - Buster Posey. Mauer more games, BA - Mauer wins but not by much, Hits - Mauer over 2000, Posey over 1500. HR Posey had more power 158 - 143. Mauer more doubles, triples, walks, stolen bases, OPS. Who else? Realmuto? By WAR and JAWS - it is Mauer and Posey is next. Elect them both. No one else is close.

I am still liking the idea of a power hitter adjusting to get any hit when we need to advance a runner and score the tying or winning run. We have seen MLB have many players who could hit HRs and not strikeout. For example DiMaggio and Berra had more than 359 HRs and less than 599 Ks. Maris had 67 Ks when he hit 61 HRs. Check out this Sabr list. I know that we cannot go backward in the way MLB plays (although the rule changes demonstrate that that is a desired outcome for many of us. Gallo is gone - I am so glad and so are so many others. I know people do not want to see BA anymore (I am an exception), but all or nothing is not winning baseball. The Acuna, Soto, Freeman, Betts types are the stars and do both. If we cannot find players that have that skill level then we need to balance the lineup with players like Julien, Arraez with players like Wallner and hope that Correa and Lewis become the superstar batters that combine both.

Good speculation, but no clear answer here. I still worry that Castro cannot match last year, but hope he does. Does Wallner take off or become a Larnach frustration? Who knows - it is the intrigue of MLB.

Projecting the 2027 Twins Lineup
mikelink45 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
No - because baseball is not made up of creditable stories. Who would have thought we could get rid of Donaldson and his horrible contract to the Yankees? What I have posed in this 2027 lineup discussion is a player who might look like he has potential enough to interest another team. This is three years from now - not next year. I hope you have looked at the title of the essay. And, yes different teams have different realities. Pujols goes back to the Cardinals for a big finish after being a white elephant for the Angels. These things happen.- 53 replies

Projecting the 2027 Twins Lineup
mikelink45 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I have watched many players get their no trade bought out. Saying they should trade Buxton in the future - remember this article is not about next year - has certainly created a lot of reactions (which I enjoy). But the projected player development in this article makes a regularly injured Buxton even less valuable and if a team wants him and if Buxton thinks that new team will provide him the opportunities he wants a deal will get done. But don't worry it will not impact 2024.- 53 replies

Projecting the 2027 Twins Lineup
mikelink45 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Sorry but the monotonously makes no sense. I don't even dislike Buxton, but he has not been a major contributor as much as we had wished he would. This article is about a future lineup and if all the pieces fall into place his value to the team is even less. But other teams can still value his potential, so yes trade him if we get the value we want.- 53 replies

Projecting the 2027 Twins Lineup
mikelink45 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I have watched a lot of players get traded with a no trade clause - It does give them some control and it is also a way to get extra money. Juan Soto had a limited no-trade clause in his SD contract.- 53 replies

Projecting the 2027 Twins Lineup

Too early, but I liked the lineup until DH. It will be Kiriloff or Julien. If Buxton gets back to playing shape I trade him quickly.- 53 replies
