  1. Man, this is such a brutal industry. Brutal.
  2. It's staying alive to get to that hanger that was the interesting part. Sorry you missed that.
  3. Nice story, thanks. Dave Debusschere was an NBA hall of famer who also played Major League Baseball, at least for a few years.
  4. The Mets and Giants were almost certainly right- Correa wasn't worth over $300 million. That doesn't mean the Twins got a bad deal by paying $200 million, though so far it certainly hasn't been what we hoped to get.
  5. Agreed about Lewis- he didn''t look strong running on that grounder in the bottom of the 8th.
  6. Anything is possible. But I'd bet the over vs. the Margot Line.
  7. So if we used him more maybe he would only be seventh. I’ll settle for that. Especially if it means I don’t have to see Margot pinch hit ever again.
  8. They did expect to have Lee and perhaps Lewis. Unfortunately we have to use Castro. And we had Margot!
  9. What's the return policy at the Dior store? Asking for a friend.
  10. A sad commentary on the state of the bullpen. Where's Brian Duensing?
  11. Those who were bemoaning the loss of Tonkin should be excited we have the opportunity to get him back. A 5.74 ERA in his last 17 outings is not convincing to me, though we should at least try SOMEthing.
  12. Agreed on "lmbo". That was hilarious. We had this at the St Croix County fair (Glenwood City, WI) back in the mid- to late 70s. I think it was a quarter for all the white milk you could drink. Chocolate milk was a quarter for a glass. The amount of milk I drank there during high school was impressive.
  13. In another shocking update, it might rain soon.
  14. Wow. Drag that sleeping dog out into the street and kick it. Way to be the better man, Pedro.
  15. I don't think it's safe to say he's back yet. I think it's more that he rolled back the covers a bit and peeked out. Hopefully he gets back to where he was last year, and soon.
  16. Yes, that was exactly my point. I had both sides of the question in my mind at the same time. It's a good way of realizing that you have no idea what the best solution might be.
  17. The best thing we got from Gallo, sad to say, was the need to bring Wallner up.
  18. Let’s go Pablo. Sweep the leg!
  19. Nice tidy 26-pitch inning there. Looking forward to more of the same.
  20. Quite an inning. Think Mahle comes out for the second?
  21. So I dreamed last night that Lewis made an awkward throw from third and tore a muscle in his arm. My dream-self immediately thought of Dave Dravecky breaking his arm mid pitch (which I saw). Glad to see him not in the lineup today.
  22. Yeah, as long as Mrs chief doesn’t read it.
  23. I believe as soon as the ball left the bat Harrelson muttered “Ballgame.” Then the silence and the part about being back. I searched for it a couple years ago and got some message that made me believe the Sox had it pulled. Looking at Doug M’s stats I was surprised to see that after he was traded he never got more than a one-year contract and never stayed with a team more than a year.
  24. Baddoo turned 26 yesterday. In my business, a youth movement would be hiring someone in their early 30s. My business of course has nothing to do with running fast, etc. I remember when he got taken in the Rule V draft after being injured. I basically had two immediate reactions: 1. Why on earth would the Twins leave him unprotected? 2. Why would anyone take him at this point in his career? Like most such picks, I imagine, in retrospect the correct response should have been "Well, good luck and best wishes."
