  1. But that ranking isn't done by the same people giving out the contracts. He could have listed mlb pipelines rankings instead and the bonuses would have matched up better.
  2. Well those guys can play center in a pinch, but I'm not sure anyone would want them as their everyday CF. Kepler and Rosario probably don't have the range, Granite probably doesn't have the arm, and Lewis is too far away to even consider when evaluating depth.
  3. Right, so again I ask, if Ervin Santana level pitchers with 2.5 years of control are worth so little on the trade market, as you suggest, then why don't we trade for 3 more just like him and have the best rotation in baseball for not just this year, but the following 2 seasons as well. That seems like a complete no brainer if he really has as little value as you suggest.
  4. Wait, it's only a one night ceremony? What am I missing here? I just assumed it was a 3 day ceremony when I heard he'd be missing 3 games.
  5. I keep hearing that it's not worth dealing Santana because he won't bring enough back. If that is true, then why don't we just trade for 3 more Ervin Santana level pitchers and have the best rotation in baseball?
  6. Luck has nothing to do with getting caught playing for a bunt in the FIFTH INNING! Seriously, why on earth would they expect bunt there? Do they think Molitor is managing the Red Sox?
  7. They may be ok with it - though I doubt encouraged, I'm guessing they would prefer the guy they drafted that high get as much development in as possible. But, how exactly did they set up a plan to work around it? He's either at the games or he's not. I doubt they are petitioning for the games to be postponed until he returns.
  8. Except he might only get one opportunity to make it as a ballplayer too. And yes, we do have a much different world view. And that's ok. I was raised believing that you show up for work everyday unless it's a life or death emergency. I was also raised to believe that team trumps individual. The organization might be fine with it, I don't know, and I didn't infer either way. I'm just not a fan of it personally.
  9. Ok, maybe not meaningless, but certainly MUCH less important than his actual job. I'm just not a fan of a week into his new job, telling his teammates and employer that a personal award is more important than actual games.
  10. He's 23 years old. Of course he can still improve at the plate.
  11. I can't say I'm a fan of missing actual games to attend a meaningless personal award ceremony.
  12. You stated the reason right there in your question. Belisle is their guy, hand picked. Humans have a hard time recognizing when they are wrong. He'll get a long leash.
  13. Pedro's career numbers vs the Yankees are pretty much right in line with his overall career numbers. 3.20 ERA (2.93 overall) 1.075 WHIP (1.054 overall) 10.8 k/9 (10.0 overall) 4.2 k:bb (4.15 overall)
  14. We were discussing Rooker, not Javier. And, I was asking him where he's seeing that Rooker is going to Ft Myers after 2 weeks in ETown.
  15. To me, the Twins are cheap if they don't go over the 5% they are allowed to. And so are any other teams that don't.
  16. I'll be disappointed if he starts anywhere below high A.
  17. Perhaps because a run prevented carries just as much weight as a run scored? Buxton is an elite defensive player. He wins games with his glove. And, we get to freeroll his bat coming around, which I still believe will.
  18. He seems likes a really smart, self aware guy. That should help him along his journey to the mlb. I admit, I was a bit skeptical of the pick, given his age and position limitations, but I'm starting to get excited to follow this guy.
  19. Good. Lewis wouldn't have been my first choice, but I'd much rather have him than McKay.
  20. Lewis isn't going to be a SS in MLB though, so I wouldn't look at our SS depth. I'm not sure why the Twins are saying he can stay at SS, perhaps he likes it and they promised to give it a shot, but I think it's pretty much unanimous every where else that he has no chance to stick at SS.
  21. Well yeah, that looks likely. But, the question is, were they right to not be impressed by him? Time will tell.
  22. To me #1 is inexcusable. They had the 1st pick, they should know exactly what the bonus is going to be before the pick is made. If Boras won't play, if he says the only way to know what we'll sign for is to pick us and find out - then you pass, unless you have him head and shoulders above everyone else on your board.
  23. Well I guess I'll just have to trust that the Twins saw something in him that almost nobody else did. The thing is, if you overreach and overpay banking on seeing something nobody else does... you better be right. I'll be keeping an eye on this kid for sure. I wish him the best of luck.
