  1. I don't think Rosario would fetch much in a trade. He might get you a Tommy Milone type (AAAA/fringe mlb) pitcher at best.
  2. I would be thrilled with an .800 OPS from Joe. I just don't see that happening though. This is 4 straight years in the .720 to .750 range. I think at this point we need to accept that is who he is now. My point being that one good month does noting to change my view of what he is now. This isn't the first time he's had a hot month the last few seasons.
  3. We've seen hot months here and there from Joe the last couple of years. I'm going to have to see this hold up for a few months before I think much of it.
  4. So if some gain velocity, some lose, and some stay the same, then again, why do you think he'll lose velocity? Wright sits 93-95 now, I think. (Mid-90's) Did he also hit 100+ frequently in HS? Since he now throws where you expect Greene to in a couple years?
  5. Well he sits 98-99 now, I think. And don't 17 year olds typically add a tick or two to their fastball as they mature?
  6. I would be opposed to selling on Buxton. I still think he will be a superstar. I realize that looks like a long shot after how his offensive career started, but nonetheless, I still believe he'll be an mvp caliber player.
  7. Monitor doesn't use guys as LOOGY, so I'm not sure this guys splits are all that important.
  8. Nope. Making a claim doesn't affect your waiver position.
  9. What do you mean by gave up their waiver spot?
  10. Well I said late June. You said July or August. The date is June 27th. Let's just say one of us was more right then the other.
  11. If Berrios is ready if there is a double header, then why isn't he ready if there isn't one?
  12. I'm saying I don't see enough to justify paying full price. Obviously anything can happen in FA, but its pretty likely that if he was willing to sign an extension he'd also be willing to come back in FA if we match any offer.
  13. Ok. Which stats will matter? Because right now his alleged poor command isn't showing up in any of them. His k rate is good. BB rate is fine. Pitch counts are good. Strike to ball rate is good.
  14. And if he's willing to sign an extension at full price then he'd also be willing to sign as a FA at full price. Therefore, I don't understand how you are mitigating the risk of him leaving by offering a full price extension. When you approach him about a full price extension, he's either interested in staying in MN, or he's not. Approaching him about a full price extension only keeps him in the scenario where he's open to staying- so you haven't gained anything. In that scenario he's open to staying via FA as well. The scenario where he's not open to staying, you lose him whether you approach him or not. The only alternate scenario I can think of is where he was open to staying, but then gets bitter that he wasn't offered an extension so he changes his mind. Dozier doesn't seem like the petty, bitter type of guy, so I'd place small odds on that scenario.
  15. Will the AAA stats still not matter if he puts up a 9.00 ERA over his next 4 starts? I have a funny feeling that if the stats were bad they would suddenly matter.
  16. If he's willing to sign with another team for same or less money, then why would he be open to an extension?
  17. But if you are not getting a discount, then why extend? With no discount the team takes ALL the risk. If no discount, just sign him when he hits FA for the same price.
  18. I think it's late June, without looking it up again. At this point, that is only about 5 or 6 weeks away.
  19. I predict Berrios will magically fix his lousy command as soon as the date passes which gives us another season of team control.
  20. I guess I'm just not seeing whatever you are seeing that you'd want him on a MLB team at this point. I know he had some good ERA's in the past, but I just don't think they mean much with such pathetic k rates.
  21. Probably not, but maybe. I view them a bit different though. I don't think Kolek has enough track record yet to show if he's a complete bust or not. To me, Stewart is a total bust, nothing there. But, you might be right, because it only takes one team to think there might be something there. So, I guess the bigger point to me is not if he'd be taken, but would I care? I wouldn't.
  22. We'll have to disagree I guess on how much evaluation can be done in ST.What was the evaluation of what Gibson was going to look like this year based on ST? Ok, theoretically someone could take a flyer on Stewart. But right now that would be crazy. And even in the small chance someone does, the odds that you don't get him returned is tiny.
