  1. No, even before his blowup the last week or so he had an OPS against in the mid to high .700's vs RH, compared to high .500's vs LH. There has never been a time that he's been "great" against both. At his best he's been great against lefties, and passable against righties. He's very hittable against righties, always has been, most likely always will be, that's just a fact, not some insult that you have to defend.
  2. Like I said, agree to disagree. By definition, numerical rankings are indeed better (at least in the rankers opinion), not just different. That is the whole idea behind numerical rankings.
  3. We'll have to agree to disagree that 21 vs 16 in the same system isn't significant.
  4. No, I don't have a citation. But, the Twins flipped their #21 prospect( Ynoa) for a guy that slots in at #16, plus a depth catcher and a wild card bullpen/6th starter option. Anecdotal, but good enough evidence for me.
  5. Ideally, Rogers shouldn't really be pitching to right handed hitters in high leverage situations. But, I'm not sure the Twins have enough bullpen pieces to be that picky, unfortunately.
  6. Adding up your odds means that, on average, 3.58 of these players will get traded. Not impossible, but seems quite unlikely to me.
  7. Teams might have offered more but wanted the Braves to eat salary. If the Twins eat all the salary they should get a significantly better prospect, IMO. It seems silly that a few million would impact the return so much, but the reality is that it does.
  8. Gonsalves threw 140 innings last year, and has only thrown 74 this year. Not only is he in no danger of hitting an innings limit, he won't even come close to getting enough innings.
  9. Well, Santana, Dozier, and Kintzler aren't clearing waivers, so yeah the deadline matters a lot if you want to trade them. A guy like Belisle might clear, but of course you aren't going to get much back for a guy like that either.
  10. I disagree on Dozier. I can't find a contending team for which he'd be much of an upgrade for. Our shot to trade him was off his career year this last off-season. I think that ship has sailed.
  11. I'm guessing that's what he meant when he literally said, "the whole league missed it", in his post.
  12. I like it. I'm not normally a fan of trading assets for relievers - even good ones. But I also don't consider Murphy much of an asset.
  13. Seth, for your final point you say the Twins should trust their system. And, personally I'd love to see some of these guys up, I comment all the time they should bring them up. But, we all have to remember that this is not the new FO's system. They aren't going to blindly trust someone else's work.
  14. A) Anything is possible, but i would think if he's available now he's available in the off-season. I think the price would be significantly greater at the deadline. Not only is he controlled longer, which gives him more value, but the deadline premium is real, IMO.
  15. Well I think they don't want just token depth at AAA, but guys that could actually play a game or 2 if needed in MLB. Maybe I'm forgetting someone, but I don't think there are any internal options that fit that bill.
  16. Well the Twins have no incentive to take him if they didn't want him. 200k of 4.9m in salary in the deal wasn't going to make or break the deal. Most likely, IMO, is the Twins expect they'll have to call up Garver at some point and like to keep depth at that position in the high minors, so they asked for him in the deal.
  17. I don't think so. I think the Twins must have asked for him. He's only owed 300k the rest of the way, and Atlanta is pitching in 100k of that. Could 200k of salary relief really have been a deal maker here?
  18. Huh? At A+ level: Thorpe: 9.6 k/9, 4.0 bb/9 Stewart: 5.7 k/9, 3.2 bb/9 Thorpe has been vastly superior to Stewart at Ft. Myers. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you are saying here?
  19. Well if you are buying Gray for next year, why not just wait until the off-season when he'll be cheaper? Also, there were a lot of people on here during the Garcia speculation saying they wouldn't object if the price was Thorpe or Garver! I'd call trading either of those players mortgaging the future for sure.
  20. According to Jon Heyman, the Braves are NOT paying any of Garcia's remaining salary.
  21. Per Jon Heyman, the Braves are only sending 100k, the Twins are paying the rest. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/07/twins-acquire-jaime-garcia-anthony-recker.html
  22. Probably wrong of him to say it declaratively, but the fact is that you can't give every minor leaguer a shot at mlb. Some guys you are going to have to judge on stuff and profile. Soft tossers that struggle to k 6 per 9 are likely going to profile as depth AAAA arms, regardless of how good their ERA is. That doesn't mean a guy like that can't get a shot someday and have his moments. Scott Diamond did it. But, no, he'll never be a legit prospect, IMO.
