    The risk of them not being the real deal is what allows you to get a discount. If you wait until there is no doubt, then why would the player give up even one cent of peak earnings?

    Hill had better numbers away from Dodger Stadium last year. This year they are worse. Both years combined they are about a wash. Ballpark doesn't seem to have much effect on Hill.

    I'm sure I'll get ripped, but it's still the same old Timberwolves. This team needed a half court prayer do drop AND 2 blown calls to not be 1-3, despite a pretty soft schedule so far. This team has no business losing to Indiana with where they want us to believe they are in the process. And I'm still not a believer in Wiggins. Maybe he's still got a lot of room for growth, I hope so, he needs to get a lot better.

    While from a pure $ standpoint, there may not be a ton of upside in the cost of those 2 FA years, there is a huge upside. Its getting those 2 years, smack in the sweet spot of his prime, without having to overpay for the subsequent down years later. That is a huge value, IMO.

    Seth Green must be the most overhyped prospect to ever come into college football, if he's not even good enough to be in the mix over Rhoda and Croft.

    Why do you have the Astros on that list? Houston's opening day payrolls, last 3 seasons: 2017: $124 million 2016: $96 million 2015: $72 million If the refrain is that we can't spend like those wild crazy Astros, then just fold the shop right now.

    No, 5/25 doesn't even come close to getting a seat, IMO.

    A quick Google search shows you to be correct. Portland gets most of their rain in the winter. They actually get far less rain during baseball season than Minneapolis does. From April through September, Minneapolis gets an average of about 20.8" of rain, while Portland gets 9.9".

    7 years, $116 million is the magic number that both sides can stomach, IMO.

    I'd love to sign him to that deal, but can't imagine he'd sign that.

    Dropping 6 games, but also adding 2 teams results in a net gain, not loss.

    Where did I claim, or even imply that the Twins operate differently? I dont think they can afford pitching AND the example Dozier extension, that's all. I prefaced it because otherwise someone would have eventually responded, "no salary cap in baseball", not because I was ripping the teams spending.

    The award isn't "most improved hitter" though. Rosarios defense got worse, and his baserunning is unacceptably bad.

    Have you seen Ervin's playoff performances? He crumbles spectacularly under the postseason lights. A team with 5 Ervin Santana's would likely do well during the regular season, but would be swept out of the first round every year.

    Ok. Well those revenues are estimates, baseball teams don't disclose revenue. But, it's as good of data as there is ever going to be available, so fair enough, I concede that point.

    Do you have any objective data to back any of that up? The Twins have had payrolls recently that appear to rank lower than their market size suggests it should, if all teams are spending the same %. You also didn't address my point. Regardless of why, they are capped on what they can spend. IMO they need to add high end pitching, and I'm not sure they can do that AND pay Dozier.

    Like it or not, the Twins operate under a self imposed salary cap. This club needs pitching, and pitching is expensive. It's hard to imagine a scenario where this extension doesn't interfere with purchasing pitching. It's not as black and white as simply wanting him to stay or not.

    Yeah, Fleck is a joke. I hope his buyout isn't too much. It really is unreal how Gophers football can just never get it right.

    A failed SB attempt costs you an out AND the baserunner. A failed sac bunt attempt only costs you an out. So a straight success % comparison doesn't quite work, you have to give extra weight to the caught stealing.
