  1. No, it doesn't. The 80% number is for tendering contracts to pre ARB guys, and minor leaguers on the 40 man.
  2. You clearly haven't considered that his most recent AB was a pop out!
  3. Lions don't concern themselves with the opinions of sheep. Until we actually prove we can even remotely hang with the Yankees in the postseason, they aren't going to concern themselves with how we match up.
  4. Bayes Theorem is flawed though when one team has a clear mental block playing the other team. It also doesn't account for home field.
  5. That's not even close to what HIPAA is.
  6. Heck yeah! More people should do that if they can! Work to live, don't live to work. You only get one life. I guess some people really love to work, but man, slow down and enjoy a few years- or decades by the beach if you can afford it.
  7. Sadly, he's still been better than the guys they were running out before we got him. Personally, I'd put Gonsalves in that spot, but they don't seem inclined to do that, so I'm not sure there is a better option.
  8. Yeah Rogers doesn't belong in a really good bullpen, unless it's a mop up guy. If you squint really hard, he's maybe average at best. Which sounds good at first, but the few teams with elite bullpens don't give meaningful innings to average at best guys.
  9. Yeah, encouraging season overall, but this series with NY has kind of exposed where they are at overall. They are where they are because of a weird season where most of the teams in the AL are just bad. That's fine, they don't have to give those wins back, but they are nowhere near the conversation of a team like NY at this point. Because of that, they could actually improve quite a bit this off-season, but tread water w/l wise next season. This is probably a 75 win team most years, which is still a nice improvement over last year.
  10. Congratulations to Jose and his wife! But 3 by age 23? It's not a race Jose!
  11. Can you be more specific?
  12. Even that doesn't mean he's not having a positive effect. For one, guys don't pitch the same each year. So just because a guy doesn't improve his ERA over last year, doesn't mean Castro isn't improving it. Perhaps that pitcher would have been worse this year over last (instead of the same), if not for Castro. Also, he's not the only catcher. Hypothetically, the pitchers could be awful when Gimenez catches them, but better than last year when Castro catches them, which combined shows the same as last year. Finally, you mention Berrios almost as an aside. Berrios was awful last year. I'd imagine that just Berrios improvement alone would give him a pretty good rating. I don't know any of this to be true, just saying there are too many variables to just compare ERA.
  13. Im not sure. I assume they find a way to sell it out, with corporate sponsors picking up tickets, and/or the NFL fudging the rules, but I could be wrong. I mean, this isn't a surprise to anyone, is it?
  14. Because the same staff could be even worse with a different catcher.
  15. Yeah, aside from the national commercials, back to back video game covers, magazine covers, and constant television coverage, nobody really knew who he was!
  16. By Doug's own words he was upset at not being told WHO fired him, not the why. I mean he specifically used those words, I'm not sure how it's even open to interpretation. I actually feel a bit bad for Falvine. They deserve to hire their own guys. They have been extremely conservative with firings, so far, IMO, and I think they did nothing wrong whatsoever in the way they handled Mientkiewicz. They left it up to his supervisor, whom he knows, and did it right away so that he can get a jump on his next opportunity. And now we have people suggesting that a hurricane or his spouse's health should make him unfireable. We also have a columnist suggesting that he was fired for not accepting an AFL assignment because of his wife's health. So, Falvine are now in the position where the only way they can prove that they aren't "classless", is by publically discussing why Doug was let go - which of course would itself actually be "classless". Talk about a no win situation!
  17. I'm not talking about who they do or don't let go. I'm talking about who makes the phone call. That's literally what you have middle management (Steil) for. Some here want Falvine going over Steils head and undermining his job duties. I don't understand that.
  18. I think they care more about the massive TV and merch market, but still, yeah, that's pathetic.
  19. Isn't a big part of what your friends and relatives defended the right to choose to NOT stand during the anthem? I have 3 cousins who have served in 3 different branches, and that is their feeling on it. Does patriotism have any meaning if its required? I guess I'd lean heavily towards no.
  20. I can't believe it's controversial that Doug was fired by his direct supervisor, whom he has a personal relationship with. I guess I can see having the personal OPINION that, maybe in this case, you do it differently. But, to go as far as calling it classless? Wow. IMO, they'd have been out of line going over Stiels head and micromanaging it themselves. Is that what we want, Falvine micromanaging every detail?
  21. Well it's always better to win than lose, of course. But so far they've yet to play anything resembling a real football team. Hopefully once the remaining Kill/Claeys commitments are cleared, we'll actually see them schedule a game or two that has at least a small chance of losing. I'm not saying I expect Alabama and USC on the schedule every year, but the Kill/Claeys era nonconference games have been pathetic.
  22. What is the new low here? If anything, I finally have some respect for Souhan. The blacklisting of Kaepernick has been a disgusting thing.
  23. A few thoughts on today's game: 1)I've seen the Vikings cycle through some really bad CB's in the 25 years that I've been watching the team. But, Trey Waynes might be the absolute worst. He doesn't belong on an NFL roster let alone starting. I've had mixed feelings regarding Spielman's draft picks, but this one is just an awful pick. 2) I'm glad I didn't toot my own horn on the new offensive line last week. When everyone else was saying they were going to be bad again, I thought they'd be good. Heck, just the addition by subtraction of getting Boone out of there alone I thought would make a huge difference. And while I still think they'll be much improved this year, today was not encouraging.... at all. They looked lost and confused and were totally outplayed. 3) Please find a kicker that can hit an EXTRA point. This is just getting absurd. I get he's been good on field goals, but they are 2 different topics, IMO. Missing extra points regularly is completely unacceptable, IMO. 4) After defending Zimmer at every turn the last couple years, bar none, I've finally had enough of his antics. "Sam is fine. He might be back next week or in six weeks, but either way he's fine." No, Zim, by definition he's not "fine", if he's missing games, especially if it's upwards of 6 games. This isn't MLB, if your most important player is fine, he plays. They don't do games off just for a day off in NFL. Zim knows as well as everyone which knee is hurt, and the history of that knee. If you don't want to talk about, just say "no comment". Dont treat us like we're idiots. Even if we are, its not cool.
  24. With that bat, it doesn't matter how good his defense is. Nothing to see here.
  25. Yeah, that's bizarre to suggest that people don't actually care about those two issues. Especially something like climate change, which has the potential to be the most impactful thing to happen to the planet in the history of humankind.
