  1. Buxton. 2nd: Dozier 3rd: Santana
  2. I think Sano has already been (unofficially) ruled out for the WC game.
  3. Well the events that the Tea Party is named after were certainly NOT civil disobedience, actually.
  4. I'm aware of that, I'm referring to the people who are lucky enough to be able to. I'll probably have to work until the day i die, at least part time or seasonally anyway in the later years, and it blows my mind that people who could easily afford to retire to a beach or something don't.
  5. That clause clearly states "reserve players". Mauer is not a reserve player. That clause is for pre ARB guys.
  6. Sure, there'll be interest. But, nobody is throwing outrageous money at a 36 year old, 3 WAR 1st baseman. So, there isn't much risk in just waiting until he's FA.
  7. The first part is opinion. You and I are not equipped to know if any of them could have been prevented, period. So please don't imply that your opinion is more valid or fact based than mine. Secondly, I'd sure as hell hope the doctors are giving imput into more than just the diagnosis and surgery. I'd hope they have some input on training, mechanics, rehab vs. surgery odds, recovery, etc. If they don't, perhaps that is a problem. Yes, I'm speculating. But so is anyone saying that better medical staff could not have prevented any of them. Both are speculation, period. They are part of a competitive, zero sum game. It's not possible that all teams have exactly equally talented medical staffs. It's perfectly fair to wonder if there could be improvement there. No different than wondering if they could improve the pitching coach, or regional scout, etc.
  8. I was responding to specifically them starting a lesser pitcher, simply because they are left-handed. That's all. I don't think they will, we'll see. Obviously, whoever they start is who THEY think gives them the best chance to win. I have my doubts that they will think a lefty gives them the best chance to win, that's all. Perhaps I could have worded my original response better.
  9. It's fair to wonder about all the milb arm injuries. It could be terrible luck, and we have the best medical staff in the league. Or, they might be competent, but relatively poor compared to some of the other teams. A person can admit they have no idea, but still fairly question it.
  10. Just wanted to make sure it was known that a person can have doubts about the relative quality of the medical staff, without accusing them of being unprofessional or not respected.
  11. What assumption did i make? I specifically said its possible, not that it's happening. I have no way of knowing if the Twins have the best medical staff in baseball or the worst.
  12. With all due respect, its possible that the Twins doctors could be professional and respected, and yet still be slightly less talented than some other teams medical staffs.
  13. I've read conflicting reports as well, but the language seems pretty clearly 6 weeks (not whole season) to me. And, I've yet to hear any explanation from the other side WHY they think it has to be the full season.
  14. I never suggested they'd look past them. Just that they won't forego their best pitcher in lieu of lefty/righty matchup. That's a tactic you only resort to if you think it's your only chance.
  15. A 6 at bat sample size has no meaning whatsoever. That's actually a check in the "pro" column for me, that Molitor is not looking at silly 6 AB sample size batter vs pitcher stats like Gardy did.
  16. Imagine if Brad Stiel makes the phone call if they let Joe walk after 2018! 500 pages?
  17. They automatically get one more year from Teddy since he's on PUP.
  18. Because they are clearly a superior team, and that's before you factor in that the Twins tremble at the sight of Yankee Stadium. Of course anything can happen in one game, but they aren't going to get cute with lefty/ right matchup against a team they can easily beat regardless. They'll just go with their best pitcher, even though he's right handed.
  19. Im thrilled that Joe is having a renaissance of sorts, but I'm extremely opposed to a three year deal. His age, the fact the 3 previous seasons were duds (could very well be concussion finally recovered, but that's speculation, hardly a fact yet), and the fact that his production- while nice, is hardly irreplaceable at first place, would make me go year to year. If he declines, then wish him the best and find a younger replacement. We also have one more year under contract which will give us more data, no reason to give him an extension.
  20. Well unfortunately, in the NFL you are really at the mercy of your QB situation. The Vikings have a mostly good team, but with a bad QB, that almost doesn't matter. Yes, I know there are exceptions, but they are rare. You don't see many bad QB's in the Super Bowl.
  21. Spielman is on the hot seat. There is zero chance he's going to dump games for a draft pick he wouldn't be around to make.
  22. Ok, we'll see.
  23. I don't remember anyone saying that at the time he got injured. Can you give me one example?
