    Before the season started I wanted Matthews and Ober moved to the bullpen. Um.... maybe not.

    I agree 100%. Classic case of taking hitting problems to the field. He really seemed to dog it going after that ball in the gap that ended up being a triple yesterday. That kind of thing is poison for a team. Who knows, maybe that was the last straw.

    If by some miracle Wallner and Lewis find success elsewhere, IMO no one can say the Twins didn't try everything they could to help them succeed. It really reminds me of Jose Miranda. One minute they look like All Stars, the next minute the trap door opens and they're gone. Congratulations to Martin - who has earned the shot.

    I still think SWR could be a pitcher along these lines. Without the blazing fastball that's pretty much his only hope. He was doing it toward the end of last year, and it was fun to watch. Hopefully he can rediscover it - fast.

    The Wallner/Lewis drain circle watch. Wallner - 4 strikeouts. Lewis nailed to the bench.

    Lewis's paranoid statement about people waiting to "write him off" is very......weird. On the contrary it seems like the organization has been more than patient and bent over backward for him. The young man really needs to grow up.

    Still rooting for Lewis to keep turning that key in the ignition and finally have the engine turn over - before he gets towed.

    The Varland trade has the potential to be one of the worst in Twins history. It was so bad, Falvey quit his job and went into the witness protection program. I often wonder if teams hype prospects in order to lure naive GMs into dumb trades. If Rojas was so great, why has he had to add velocity to his stuff, which has thrown everything out of wack?

    The parity so far in the Central Division might work against some of these young players getting an early opportunity with the Twins. It might lead the powers that be to believe there's still A CHANCE, make them more conservative, and stick with retreads and failing veterans - which IMO defeats their own purpose.

    The Milwaukee Brewer's budget is usually in the bottom third of the league and their on field performance is almost always top quality. Shows what having baseball executives who know what they're doing can achieve.

    All I'm saying is a team have as many effective proven pitchers as possible - not a specific number. Quality hitters at the bottom of a batting order "lengthens the line-up". Quality pitching provides depth. Guys like Bradley and Abel who have never done it, pitch a month and then go hang out on the disabled list - not so much.

    I have searched my immortal soul, and I still disagree with you. But I'm all for giving the rookies a shot. For the Twins, that's what this year should have been all about from day one - a long try out camp.

    It's a very tough call on Lewis. But if Arcia provides a live bat at 3B and semi-competent fielding, I think they have to bring him up. One more competitive bat in the line-up could make a big difference now that Lee has come around. Maybe give Lewis another week or two.

    If they could only get one more player to wake up like Lee has things might get interesting. Lewis or Wallner could change the whole picture. Are blood transfusions legal?

    All of the Central teams are already seemingly running on fumes - and it's not even 2 months into the season. If by some miracle the Twins end up on top in this division, which is honestly (very) remotely possible, they should honor Shelton with the State Fair Seed Art Blue Ribbon or Nobel Peace Prize or something. Keep your eye on that waiver wire Jerry!

    "Depth" is pretty meaningless if the next man up on the mound can't do the job - unless you're looking to increase your depth in the standings. The phrase that applies to mutual funds applies to Minor League records- "Past performance is not an indicator of future (Major League) returns". How many proven pitchers? As many as humanly possible.

    It's deceiving when you talk about "starting pitching depth" and 6 of the names on the list have never been effective starting pitchers over the course of a full ML season. It was a mirage.

    Brent Headrick was placed on waivers by the Twins before the 2025 season when he had a sub 4.00 ERA at AAA. He's now a beast out of the bullpen for the Yankees. The Twins shed Headrick right before last season in which the Twins dismantled the bullpen. That indicates really a total lack of forethought in what this team is trying to do. Have a good day.

    He's now one of the few Twins hitters who seems like he's a threat every time he's up there. Plus, and importantly, he's durable. From a pure competitive view you want to hang on to that asset. The baseball reality is they'll probably trade him for random suspects.

    WTAF is being scouted heavily by the Twins as the next closer.

    The most ominous thing for the Twins IMO is that all their supposed future Hall of Famers in the minors - Culpepper, Jenkins, and E-Rod - are either already in the middle of their annual injuries or just not playing well. Preilipp showed what a promising young player can do for attendance when he drew a nice crowd at Target Field recently. If they can't or won't do more of that with young players in the second half, this whole thing is going to fall off a cliff.

    From my vast experience trying to hit 95 mph fastballs😃, I think Lewis could benefit from cutting way down on his swing. Just try to make contact and hit it back up the middle through the infield. See ball, hit ball. Stop trying to be a wall banger for a while.

    I hope Klein stays a starter. He's from Minnesota, and if he goes to the bullpen and is really good, he's going to wake up some morning inexplicably traded to Toronto.
