  1. This is a great response if you think Bader was signed to be the DH.
  2. ...because the Twins OF was really, really poorly constructed as of this morning. How any Twins fan is upset at the team improving is wild.
  3. If Larnach sucks, sure. And when Wallner goes through another stretch like he did last year with a 37% K rate and a 180 average, yeah, maybe Bader gets playing time then too. Having a competent 4th OF is good. How are fans trying to spin this as a bad thing? Austin Martin just lost playing time. This is a time for celebration!
  4. Considering Larnach's OPS against LHP is 570 and Wallner's is 510 both with mediocre to bad defense, maybe insurance is good. One or both of them could obviously improve on those numbers, but to bet on BOTH of them succeeding against LHP in 2025 is a good recipe for disaster.
  5. None of what you said reflects on Harrison Bader or even the signing of him. Your issues are entirely with the in-season front office management. So, let's start the campaign to fire Falvey then.
  6. Well, Pete Alonso isn't walking into the Twin's Clubhouse so this is about as effectively as the Twins can spend their money on February 5th. You'll worried about the past instead of celebrating the team improving today. It's sad to see to be quite honest. I think it's a failure of an offseason too. As was last years. I think Falvey, quite honestly, is no good at his job. But that doesn't change the fact that this is a good move. You don't get mad at a player hitting a homerun just because they've been in a slump.
  7. Probably Scherzer, but I think there is value to signing a HOFer aside from what they do on the field. You're still offering the chance for young fans to see Max Scherzer. Ain't no one caring if it's Paddack bump day.
  8. Well, that's less the fault of Bader and more the fault of the player made of glass.
  9. So you should hope they never, ever sign a free agent. Can't imagine how devastated you must have been yesterday at an equally fair market signing to add a valuable player to the roster.
  10. Entirely depends on what they would receive back. Considering they're both overpaid, I don't see anyone actually taking them. Paddack, maybe, but with nothing of substance in return. Bader is paid entirely fairly at 6.25 M. This very morning I pegged his market at 5-7.5.
  11. Some of you guys are hilarious. Acting like 6.25 million is sending the pohlads to the poor house. Falvey improved the team and instead the fans are worried about where else they could have spent those marginal dollars.
  12. 86 OPS+ vs 87 OPS+ so technically yes Austin Martin was better, and he might very well hit a little bit better this year too. Yes, Austin Martin is not going to suddenly become a good defender just because he goes from 1,000 innings in the OF to 1,200 innings in the OF. He wasn't just learning the position as so many here want to claim in order to excuse how terrible he was out there.
  13. Austin Martin sucks. Like proper sucks. Like, zero tool player sucks. Who cares if he hits a little bit better when he's also an atrocious fielder?
  14. I've been hating on the Twins front office a lot, so allow me to give them props on this move. This is probably the single best and easiest move to improve the team at this point. Well done!
  15. Well, it probably shouldn't. It's counting against their current salary/tax thresholds so it doesn't make sense to double penalize them. People need to start thinking of it as a retirement account instead of salary payments. Ohtani is getting "paid" $47 Million; $2 Million in cash, with an additional payment of $45M into a retirement account that is guaranteeing a 4.25% return.
  16. Oh noooooo. The professional athlete was tired :-( This is just always the worst excuse. It was extremely lame for Royce Lewis (oh? you missed half the season and still ran out of steam? Do more cardio maybe?) and its still a lame excuse for Castro. Fact is, Catros peripherals were basically identical in the first and second half. He didn't get tired. He was lucky in the first half, and unlucky in the second half. And things evened out and he is who we thought he was. The career 701 OPS guy is a good, valuable utility player. Nothing more.
  17. Yep, this team's defense was already mediocre to bad last season, and this season is shaping up to be ugly. A flyball heavy pitching staff and bad OF defense? What can go wrong? Cosign on Bader. Assume he still is able to get something like 5-7.5 million. And I think he's very clearly worth that. Plus, the Twins obsessed with platoons, he's hit significantly better against LHP in his career with a .328/.291 woba L/R split.
  18. And they'll still try to blame it on the selfish players, and will succeed with the rubes.
  19. Well, you certainly implied it, considering the comment you replied to was "They are both a much better team than the Twins and they have a significantly better fan support. Not to mention a significantly higher payroll still. The fact that they're now going through a messy ownership fight because their beloved owner died isn't a strike against the strategy. " So...kind of, yeah.
  20. It ain't the players that are greedy. You started off right, blaming the do-nothing, welfare queen owners. You think the owners are going to suddenly charge a nickel a ticket if the players decided not to take a salary?
  21. Hal just offered a $750 million contract to Soto. Don't believe him when he's crying poor.
  22. Well, the Twins have won one "playoff" series in 23 years, and they couldn't even sell out those games. The Padres were arguably the second best team in baseball last season while the Twins were something like 69-79 against teams that weren't the worst team in major league history. So, why are you crapping on the Padres? You're living in a glass house.
