  1. Not really. Last year Emmanuel Rodriguez was a consensus top 62 prospect and this year top 37. Merrill ranked no lower than 22nd and 17th in his two years before the show. Clearly an intriguing prospect, but a LOT of question marks about if his approach will play at the major league level.
  2. Sorry I saw the 2024 Twins for what they were. A bad team undeserving of limping into the playoffs and getting swept. Many here apparently hate the Twins way more than I do. I actually enjoyed seeing them improve yesterday and some of you all got upset they didn't spend their limited resources in the very narrow way you desired. OK. Fire Rocco. Fire Falvey. The Twins gave out a below league average non-controlled contract to a decent player that, without a doubt, improves the team in important ways and folks here are freaking out because they don't trust anyone in the organization to use him in a way they don't hate.
  3. Mets! Mets! Mets!
  4. No offense, but I won't be listening to the opinion on whether someone is a good baseball player or not from someone that just said that they don't care about half of the game of baseball.
  5. Hey man, if you're selling this season for future seasons that's an entirely different argument and I'm not opposed to that strategy either. I was under the impression people here wanted to improve the 2025. That's my bad.
  6. Well. There should be a new owner by June. Maybe they'll do everyone a favor and fire Rocco and Falvey mid season. Fingers crossed!
  7. Because I think Harrison Bader is better than either Martin or Keirsey, that actually means I'm betting money on him winning AL MVP.
  8. You mistake me knowing a signing improves a bad team for thinking a signing makes a bad team good. Feel free to go back and read every comment I made here. Never claimed he's a star. Even admitted that Austin Martin is very likely going to be a marginally better hitter next season. I'm just not delusional enough to think that taking playing time away from Austin Martin is a bad idea. So many people seem to have forgotten that defense is a part of baseball.
  9. Those two are much less risky players than Emmanuel. Chourio was the number 2 prospect in baseball for a reason, and Merrill was a defensive stud. I know a lot of people like Emmanuel on defense but when the scouting reports say "we think he'll be able to stick in CF for a bit" that usually means he's an average to below average fielder at the position.
  10. Because Martin also sucks on defense. Why are people here so unaware of this.?
  11. This is what the Tigers did. Some vets were bad so they just played the kids. Anyone acting like the Twins are handcuffed to Bader are just admitting Rocco should be fired immediately.
  12. Wonderful. Your opening day roster is probably a much worse team than the actual Twins. Starting a 22 year old with a 30% strikeout rate in the minors and no backup plan. Can't imagine why the Twins didn't go that route instead.
  13. You guys keep focusing on offense only, and it's making you look ridiculous. How is Grichuk or Laureano in CF?
  14. I don't know about your math there. If I'm not mistaken Alonso alone is getting paid as much as all four of those players combined. And I didn't realize getting rid of those salaries was as easy as just wishing it. Falvey should have wished harder I guess.
  15. They don't. Time value of money. That 70 million is discounted to a present day value. 2 now + 68 million in 10 years = 46, or at least so says MLB.
  16. The Dodgers have a 46 million salary hit for Ohtani for tax purposes. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/los-angeles-dodgers/tax/_/year/2025
  17. No, I don't care to. The lineup is obviously fungible. But like I said, even if you believe he's the starting LF now (which I do not) this team is STILL improved from this morning. So, worse than Bader.
  18. We agree then. The Twins should fire Rocco. But this conversation is about Bader and how he improves the Twins. Yes, he should rotate in and spell relief for Larnach or Wallner against lefty starters. Probably a pretty frequent pinch runner for Larnach if we're being honest. And both those roles will make the team better. While his workload might exceed that of Buxton, that doesn't mean he's the starter over Buxton. It's a long season and you need a good 4th OF. Would you rather that workload go to Austin Martin??
  19. Even if he is, which I do not grant, this team is significantly improved from this morning. They had no CF backup for Buxton's inevitable 60 day IL trip, and now they do. And I'm not concerned about blocking a 22 year old player with a 30% K rate, less than 200 PAs above A+, and, what I believe to be, questionable CF defense. Not yet. We can talk again in June.
  20. That's on the other players and the manager. Margot was very clearly the 4th OF going into the season. He didn't even start in the OF until game 8. Can Bader end up playing more than Buxton? Yes, very obviously, and we all know why. But that doesn't make Bader the #1 CF. That's not how depth charts work.
