  1. Wonderful. Your opening day roster is probably a much worse team than the actual Twins. Starting a 22 year old with a 30% strikeout rate in the minors and no backup plan. Can't imagine why the Twins didn't go that route instead.
  2. You guys keep focusing on offense only, and it's making you look ridiculous. How is Grichuk or Laureano in CF?
  3. I don't know about your math there. If I'm not mistaken Alonso alone is getting paid as much as all four of those players combined. And I didn't realize getting rid of those salaries was as easy as just wishing it. Falvey should have wished harder I guess.
  4. They don't. Time value of money. That 70 million is discounted to a present day value. 2 now + 68 million in 10 years = 46, or at least so says MLB.
  5. The Dodgers have a 46 million salary hit for Ohtani for tax purposes. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/los-angeles-dodgers/tax/_/year/2025
  6. No, I don't care to. The lineup is obviously fungible. But like I said, even if you believe he's the starting LF now (which I do not) this team is STILL improved from this morning. So, worse than Bader.
  7. We agree then. The Twins should fire Rocco. But this conversation is about Bader and how he improves the Twins. Yes, he should rotate in and spell relief for Larnach or Wallner against lefty starters. Probably a pretty frequent pinch runner for Larnach if we're being honest. And both those roles will make the team better. While his workload might exceed that of Buxton, that doesn't mean he's the starter over Buxton. It's a long season and you need a good 4th OF. Would you rather that workload go to Austin Martin??
  8. Even if he is, which I do not grant, this team is significantly improved from this morning. They had no CF backup for Buxton's inevitable 60 day IL trip, and now they do. And I'm not concerned about blocking a 22 year old player with a 30% K rate, less than 200 PAs above A+, and, what I believe to be, questionable CF defense. Not yet. We can talk again in June.
  9. That's on the other players and the manager. Margot was very clearly the 4th OF going into the season. He didn't even start in the OF until game 8. Can Bader end up playing more than Buxton? Yes, very obviously, and we all know why. But that doesn't make Bader the #1 CF. That's not how depth charts work.
  10. This is a great response if you think Bader was signed to be the DH.
  11. ...because the Twins OF was really, really poorly constructed as of this morning. How any Twins fan is upset at the team improving is wild.
  12. If Larnach sucks, sure. And when Wallner goes through another stretch like he did last year with a 37% K rate and a 180 average, yeah, maybe Bader gets playing time then too. Having a competent 4th OF is good. How are fans trying to spin this as a bad thing? Austin Martin just lost playing time. This is a time for celebration!
  13. Considering Larnach's OPS against LHP is 570 and Wallner's is 510 both with mediocre to bad defense, maybe insurance is good. One or both of them could obviously improve on those numbers, but to bet on BOTH of them succeeding against LHP in 2025 is a good recipe for disaster.
  14. None of what you said reflects on Harrison Bader or even the signing of him. Your issues are entirely with the in-season front office management. So, let's start the campaign to fire Falvey then.
  15. Well, Pete Alonso isn't walking into the Twin's Clubhouse so this is about as effectively as the Twins can spend their money on February 5th. You'll worried about the past instead of celebrating the team improving today. It's sad to see to be quite honest. I think it's a failure of an offseason too. As was last years. I think Falvey, quite honestly, is no good at his job. But that doesn't change the fact that this is a good move. You don't get mad at a player hitting a homerun just because they've been in a slump.
  16. Probably Scherzer, but I think there is value to signing a HOFer aside from what they do on the field. You're still offering the chance for young fans to see Max Scherzer. Ain't no one caring if it's Paddack bump day.
  17. Well, that's less the fault of Bader and more the fault of the player made of glass.
  18. So you should hope they never, ever sign a free agent. Can't imagine how devastated you must have been yesterday at an equally fair market signing to add a valuable player to the roster.
  19. Entirely depends on what they would receive back. Considering they're both overpaid, I don't see anyone actually taking them. Paddack, maybe, but with nothing of substance in return. Bader is paid entirely fairly at 6.25 M. This very morning I pegged his market at 5-7.5.
  20. Some of you guys are hilarious. Acting like 6.25 million is sending the pohlads to the poor house. Falvey improved the team and instead the fans are worried about where else they could have spent those marginal dollars.
  21. 86 OPS+ vs 87 OPS+ so technically yes Austin Martin was better, and he might very well hit a little bit better this year too. Yes, Austin Martin is not going to suddenly become a good defender just because he goes from 1,000 innings in the OF to 1,200 innings in the OF. He wasn't just learning the position as so many here want to claim in order to excuse how terrible he was out there.
  22. Austin Martin sucks. Like proper sucks. Like, zero tool player sucks. Who cares if he hits a little bit better when he's also an atrocious fielder?
