  1. And you can say you don't hate Bader all you want but when you and others are talking like this or lamenting the fact he can't be optioned, that's more telling. Man up and tell the truth if you hate the player. I think Austin Martin sucks and I'm obviously not shy about it.
  2. Correct. I get your frustration, and I don't know the reasons why, but the Twins haven't produced a good fielder since Buxton and Kepler. Larnach Wallner and Martin are all iffy to downright bad. There's no reason to think Keirsey was a plus defender in CF. Julien, Lewis, and even Lee (so far) all disappointments. Kiriloff and Miranda, oofda. You can wish they could but they haven't and while everyone else is discussing the reality of the current state of the organization, looking to the 2025 season, you're here talking as if they just wished harder everything would be roses and they wouldn't need to bring in a valuable player that improves the team.
  3. You people are so hyperfixated on half the game. Was Ozzie Smith a bad player in your eyes?
  4. And he's not hit lefties since 2019. Was Buxton the 4th OF last season? That tells you how dumb I think this question is. And I'm obviously guessing. Maybe it's 350. Maybe Buxton is incredibly healthy and it's 220. Why get fixated on this? Great. Let me know when OF no longer need to play the OF and then this is relevant.
  5. So his 300 PAs against LHP wasn't a chance and don't count? Pretty convenient. Sounds like you just don't understand the importance of a quality 4th OF in a 162 game season. Especially for a team that has a CF made of glass . Bader is solidly above replacement and this is a team that gave 250 PAs to the much worse player Austin Martin. There is plenty of playing time for Bader, and he improves the team.
  6. True. Just saying Eeles was better in almost every way last year. Exit velocity was a tick higher but hard hit % a bit lower. Contact was higher and way more patient. Was really disappointed with Lee's speed and arm last year too. Sadly, think he's kind of a dud that should have been traded before exposed. Not true all star potential but can prove to be a valuable starter still.
  7. If, like Larnach, you haven't hit lhp since 2019, when does it start to become concerning? You can cry about 50 PAs being too small a sample but when do you actually force the guy to actually perform? If he weren't also a bad fielder he'd get more chances I'm sure. Understated? No? He should probably play about 100 games and get 400 PAs. And if you think he was borderline replacement, well, you're just very wrong. If you're gonna reduce a baseball player exclusively down to OPS, we'll, you're not really appreciating the game man.
  8. I'm not even saying they shouldn't ever be allowed to face lefties. But there's a real chance that one or both of them continue to struggle. Especially with Larnach, when do you stop hoping that his 2019 AA splits are more telling of ability than the entirety of his MLB career? It's just a fact that in nearly 300 PAs against LHP Wallner and Larnach have hit a combined .182 with about a .550 OPS. And we don't need to pretend as if that's just going get better for both players if they see more LHP. I think I agree with most of the people here that Wallner deserves another chance to prove himself against them. But Larnach? I just really don't care if he sits in favor of the much better hitting and much, much better fielding Bader against them, even if it were on opening day or in a tough spot in the 5th inning. Especially since he's a pretty bad outfielder and baserunner as well.
  9. The more I look at him, the more I wish Eeles were in the proper camp battling for that spot. Unless his defense isn't up to snuff, I think he might be the best of the bunch being considered for the job, if we're under the impression Rocco prefers Castro to be able to move around the field. He's seemingly got better patience at the plate and contact skills than Martin or Lee, and at least comparable power to Lee. Lee obviously has more of that projection and promise, but Eeles might just be a better player. And Austin Martin is just easily the worst of the three. There's no way he'd be at all in contention if he wasn't a first round draft pick.
  10. The season is 162 games long. Pretending Bader starting a game against a lefty instead of career Larnach or Wallner with their combined career 550 OPS against lefties is some sort of travesty is just stupid. Trying to act as though career OPS+ 102 Larnach, or career 35% K rate Wallner, each with their bad outfield defense, are perfect players that must see 650 PAs and every inning in the field, again, is just stupid. There's plenty of playing time for all of Wallner, Larnach, Buxton, Bader, and probably some left over for Keirsey still, since he's still on the 40 man. And, yes, sadly even some, too much in fact, for the worst amongst them, Austin Martin.
  11. Probably neither. They would need to negotiate an extension right now in order for that to happen. Probably should be Jax since he's cheaper due to the arbitrary nature of the closers role. But I think he's less likely to stick with the organization than Duran, given that they have refused to let him try to play the position he clearly prefers. But, does it make sense for the Twins to even TRY to extend a pitcher past 32 right now? Probably not.
  12. Which 1 big free agent are you getting for $10.5M? Max Kepler? Correct.
  13. I've said this before about Jax. Has Duran expressed interest in starting? Or that just you being speculative? It's also worth mentioning that it's kind of a necessity for a team that isn't in the top echelon of payroll to trade away closers before free agency. Based on his ability and age, he might be in line for a 4 year 80 million dollar deal. So, yeah, Twins will trade Duran next offseason (or this all star break if they're out of it). Edit: wait! I'm jumping the gun a year. He'll get like 8 million next year in arb 2 though so it is possible they start to shop him next offseason though.
  14. Your points are just incredibly useless (relating to the 2025 Twins) then. Just, like, develop them. Wow. Genius. Why didn't anyone else ever think of this... Insert the photo of Paris Hilton telling others to just stop being poor.
  15. I think it must just boil down to hometown fans, having heard about Player X for so long, unwilling to come to understand that X isn't nearly as good as the outsider.
  16. Correct. Not without being very creative, and the Mets seem to have taken up the only real comparable option that was out there. Here are some other elite fielding CF and what they hit and are making in 2025: Siri - 88 OPS+ - $2.4M (arb1) Meyers - 86 OPS+ - $2.3M (arb1) Isbel - 80 OPS+ - $1.75M (arb1) Rafaela - 82 OPS+ - $50M/8yr Varsho - 98 OPS+ - $8.2M Yeah, David Stearns is better at his job than Falvey and successfully pounced on Siri before the close of November. But that's why Stearns is the highest paid executive in baseball and Falvey is likely going to get fired within a year or two by the incoming ownership. This fantastical idea that great fielding and average hitting CF are just out there for the Twins to pick is just not true. Twins fans, having watched Buxton with his part time playing yet still valuable presence should understand this as much as any fanbase.
  17. They should have focused on bringing in the equivalent to a player that no one expects to make the major league roster? Yes, it's obviously preferable to develop young major league talent, no one disagrees with that, but they haven't so they need to do something else. Just getting mad at a free agent signing suggesting they should just be able to fill those spots internally is just ignoring the current state of the organization.
  18. Fair. Looks like they started Castro in LF on opening day. Can't blame the Twins for the lack of confidence. If you're striking out in half your plate appearances and also suck on defense, yeah, you're gonna see less playing time.
  19. Sure. You could. Your defense would be atrocious. If you're happy giving up a lot more runs that's fine.
  20. So you're passing on the only two premium defense free agent outfielders but are so sure you can find one just as good and cheaper... This is why I'm saying you Bader haters are just objectively wrong.
  21. So Michael A Taylor? You would have preferred the 2 mil to him?
  22. Irrelevant when Martin can't play the OF. LET THE KIDS PLAY is a terrible strategy if they suck. Which people are happy to say about Julien but hesitant for Martin even though he's actually older and, I'd argue, much worse.
  23. Look man. I'm not opposed to a rebuild. But don't think for a second that your desire to just let the kids play in order to see what you got and gain experience isn't a rebuild by a different name. A rebuild of one year is still a rebuild.
