  1. I think Sands will be ok IF used correctly, which has not been the case. Roccos deployment of the bullpen has been baffling to me. Consistently using our closer in the 7th and 8th innings, then expecting Okert to get saves. The guy is basically a one pitch pitcher. We need Stewart back badly. Then I'd call up Alcala and put Varland out in the bullpen and let it fly.
  2. Twins defense has been incredibly sloppy the past week or so. Hopefully getting Buxton back in CF will help, but Rocco needs to start holding these players accountable for all these little league looking mistakes. Sure would help if the offense woke back up. We cannot afford a second straight sweep especially against the team we're trying to beat our for the central...
  3. I really think Kiriloff needs a reset at AAA. Wallner s been hitting well in St Paul. If not him I'd love to see what Keirsey Jr can do at the top level. Varland could be a big boost in our struggling bullpen too...
  4. I think management seriously needs to consider sending Kiriloff down to AAA for a reset. Especially since there are several intriguing options to replace him in the short term. I'd love to see what Keirsey Jr can do at the top level. If not him, it sounds like Wallner s been hitting well with the saints. Something needs to be done about the horrible twins outfielders lately...
  5. I think Sands should be the long man or multiple inning guy. Alcala and Varland should be used as one inning, middle relief guys. Alcala has looked great this year but has been mis managed. Varland has had a real rough go as a starter but looked great for us in the bullpen last year. Adding those two plus a healthy Stewart and our pen starts to look a whole lot better imo.
  6. Castro has been rough in CF all year long, but let's keep in mind he shouldn't be our starting CF'er anyways. We need Buck out there, and if not him we should have Kepler Martin or better yet, call up Keirsey Jr is Buxton is going to the IL again. Castros been one of our better hitters, he should just be kept at a corner OF or 3rd base.
  7. The timing of the cut in payroll felt like a slap in the face to us fans. We finally win a playoff series and look to be a perennial playoff contender with a few additions, yet they do the opposite. Now with blackouts still a thing and this new TV debacle, it's becoming increasingly difficult to be a twins fan:(
  8. Keirsey Jr is really playing like he wants a promotion to the bigs. Mathews may be the starting pitcher we've been trying to develop for years. Between him, Festa and Raya I'd say we've got a good shot at at least one or two of them becoming solid contributing SP, with the other (maybe Raya) moving to a bullpen role.
  9. I think the Cleveland series on the road will be imminently more important and a good test. Possible playoff preview...
  10. He has been fun to watch. I wish Rocco wasn't so obsessed with platooning so not only Larnach but Julien and Kiriloff would get more at bats and the chance to hit. If none of these young lefties never get the opportunity to hit LH pitchers, how are they ever supposed to improve? This is especially frustrating when these guys are on the bench in favor of Margot and Farmer who are absolute black holes in the lineup, but Rocco continues to play them solely because they hit right handed. Frustrating...
  11. I think the bullpen would benefit greatly from designating Sands as the multi inning long man reliever, and then calling up Alcala and Varland as high octane , one inning set up arms. Getting a solid starter at the trade deadline sure wouldn't hurt either...
  12. Will be interesting to see how Zebby Mathews does today in his second AA start. He has looked great this year. I'll also be keeping an eye on Varland. If he starts to tire or become more ineffective the second or third time through the order, I think the twins could really use him in our bullpen like they did late last year. Everyone knows our bullpen has been overworked and needs reinforcement
  13. I've been infuriated with Baldelli's managing of not just the bullpen but the lineups this year as well. Way to dependant on "platoon advantage". We shouldn't ever be sitting out best and hottest hitters in order to start our worst and coldest hitters just because of what side they hit from. Pitching wise, Alcala should be used like they used Stewart. One inning guy, few times per week.
  14. As long as he continues to improve his control and continue to pitch deeper and deeper into games, I think there's a good chance he does get a handful of starts in the majors. Would be a good test for him, and check off one more obstacle to him potentially making the team out of spring training next year.
  15. Too early to tell. I also think our playoff odds are going to be dependent on how well the trade deadline goes. If we can pick up a decent starter or some bullpen help, I like our chances. If we totally get hosed like the last few years, it's going to make it that much harder. Al central is not a push over division anymore...
  16. I think Kiriloff could benefit from a AAA trip. Replace him with Keirsey Jr and see what he can do for a few weeks. I think it's obvious we need some bullpen help. It's looking more likely that Topa isn't coming back anytime soon so there needs to be an addition or two from outside the organization. Make a trade or see who available as a FA
  17. Excited to see Festa and Keirsey Jr get their shot. E-Rod should get a bump to AAA at some point if he continues to hit well. Really impressed with Zebby Mathews. He may end up being one of our best pitching prospects:)
  18. Bullpen definitely needs help. Stewart would be the biggest addition. Not sure what's up with Topa. Might be another desclafini situation. We're gonna need another arm or two at the trade deadline for sure...
  19. I'd say another great trade was half a year of Nelson Cruz for rotation stalwart Joe Ryan. Plenty of bad trades too though, look at last year's deadline. Still hurts to see CES and Spencer Steer hitting so well...
  20. After Duran, Stewart and Jax, I think our bullpen needs serious help. Call up Alcala and put Varland in the bullpen. Pick up a starter and a solid setup guy at the deadline and I think we'd have a chance. Worried about Topa, sounds like he might be another trade acquisition that will never throw a single pitch for us. Are we really this lazy with our physical examinations?
  21. 88 mph fastball? Unless he's got some electric secondary pitches he kind of sounds like a batting practice pitcher. What do I know though, now he'll probably win a cy young :)
  22. I would love to see him with the twins. Rocco places way too much importance on platooning, I just don't get it. Play your best hitters man. These young lefties need to learn how to hit lefty handed pitchers but they never will if you're constantly pulling them for RH hitters(that are doing nothing at the plate) like Margot and Farmer...
  23. Will be nice to follow his development. I wouldn't get too crazy praising the twins "pitching pipeline" though. I mean success stories for Ober....who else? Festa can't throw strikes, Raya can't throw more than 50 pitches and might be a bullpen guy. Don't get me wrong, I watch all these guys and am rooting for all of them. Let's just not count our chickens...
  24. I think Miranda has earned an everyday spot on the team. When Lewis comes back maybe that pushes Miranda to first base. I wouldn't mind that, he's got way more offensive upside than Santana or Kiriloff which is what you need from the 1b position.
  25. I'm more excited about Canterino, if we can ever get him healthy. Also Zebbys Mathews, he's looked like an ace in the minors this year. Festa has command problems and Raya never throws more than 2-3 innings, which makes me think one or both of them are probably headed for a bullpen role which would lower their value.
