  1. Your definition of "possible Cy Young winner" and mine are radically different. Manoah is a reclamation project, who is far off of his Cy Young form. Did you follow him at all last year? I sure did and he was a mess. Demoted twice last year. And not to AAA either. Try rookie ball, where he was promptly shelled for 11 runs in 3 innings. That and he had assorted injuries to his lower half (knee, back and quad). That' your definition of a potential Cy Young award winner?
  2. Obviously he was good in 2022. Even 2021. But he was a mess last year. No reason to trade viable assets for a pitcher that's lost it. It's silly.
  3. Not sure why everyone wants to add Manoah so badly. He was cooked last year and his head wasn't screwed on right.
  4. The Twins want to (and need to) aquire a #2 starter this off season. However, I'm skeptical that they'll be able to do so with Polanco and/or Kepler being the key pieces. I think it would require two things: 1. A willing trade partner: not sure many teams are looking to trade away SPs and if they are, the Twins will be competing with several teams to aquire meet a team's astronomical price for one, and; 2. Trading away elite prospects like Lee or Rodriguez. As for this Baltimore pitcher, like others, I don't see why Baltimore would trade him unless someone overpays.
  5. Good riddance! Glad the Twins didn't make it worse by resigning him.
  6. My concern with losing Kepler is who would replace him. There's not a lot available in FA in the Twins' supposed price range that can give them Kepler's level of production. They only won 87 games last year, and now are apparently cutting payroll so I expect unless the front office gets really creative, they'll already be downgrading some at SP. Yes, others can improve but not sure how many areas they can slide back in and expect to be a legit contender next year.
  7. Carlos Correa is wired differently. He has a superstar mindset. Those types of players rarely have consecutive down seasons. They fix their problems and rebound. I don't see him fading into obscurity without a fight.
  8. ... DFA'd by the D-Backs. Would you take a chance on him? I think I would. He can be had for next to nothing. As can other prospects from the past few years that haven't panned out -- Trent Grisham (might be DFA by SD), and Dylan Carlson. Worth a shot or washed like the dishes?
  9. Ok. Cool. I appreciated the improvement last season, but don't think I could ever truly trust him.
  10. Inflammation and soreness in his throwing arm and an inability to command his pitches when he did pitch means I'd steer clear.
  11. I've been high on Sandoval's stuff for a while now. He'd be a great addition. I remember his CG against the team a few years back.
  12. Personally, I'd rather see them do this with Julien and keep Polanco at 2B.
  13. My initial thought was, if DH didn't keep him healthy, I dunno that anything would. I don't like the idea of moving him to 1B because his value is so much higher in CF and I don't like the idea of opening up CF full-time to an offensive liability - like Kevin Kiermaier or Michael A. Taylor. But I think I like the idea of him clogging up DH even less. Regardless of where they put him, I expect the Twins will need another option for the remaining 60% of the season.
  14. This is the way I see it, too. In fact, it's the way that I've always seen it in regards to free agency. However, magnified here by the global reach of a player like Ohtani. I have no idea how much the Twins would need to overpay to lure him here, but I suspect it's significant.
  15. I think he should be on the Twins' radar, if he's not already.
  16. I'd love to see a trade like this. I was hoping the Twins might make a play on him last off-season after he was irked by the arbitration discussion.
  17. Okay, Yankees pay ALL Judge's salary. After all, he'll only hit 45 HR without that short porch and you KNOW he'll miss 40 games minimum. I don't mind Cole as the 6th starter/bullpen arm but I'd probably push to get King too. Might need to throw in a rookie baller to get it done though.
  18. Honestly? I'm not sure. Sometimes I question some of their free agent evaluations but if they were playing with the same money as everyone else, you'd have to think it would help, right?
  19. I guess if forced, I could go Vazquez and Miranda for Judge and Cole, but I'd need the Yankees to take on some of that salary. I win all my fantasy leagues. 😎
  20. Would you include Brooks Lee or Emmanuel Rodriguez for either? I think that is what it would take.
  21. I don't see the Mariners doing that at all, but if they did, I would jump on it. Kirby or Gilbert would be immediately potential co-ace material with Pablo.
  22. I'll start ... Wallner, Kepler and Vazquez to the Yankees for Aaron Judge and Gerrit Cole. We can whittle it down from there. I'm reasonable. 😀
  23. The author of this column swung and missed. Just another Miguel Sano. 😀 Kidding, of course... couldn't help myself.
  24. I don't necessarily disagree with you on that point. Or even the point of expanding the booth to three -- though I do question if they have the budget for that. I just wouldn't want anything remotely resembling KFAN's morning show. Or really anything related to KFAN, to be honest.
