5 hits, 1 run and only 82 pitches and Ryan gets pulled after5 innings. What a crock of crap. This pitch count nonsense needs to stop.

As long as Baldelli is the manager nobody, but nobody will thrive at second base as well as third, first and left and right field. Baldelli won’t play the same lineup more than two days in a row. All the analytic nonsense he believes in is the downfall of the young talent we have on this roster. Nobody plays the same position day in and day out. Therefore they don’t get enough defensive time nor enough at bats to be consistent. Baldelli is the problem. Take your platooning and stick it.

You want a model for 90 wins? Fire Baldelli and get somebody in there that has a consistent daily lineup of players and some baseball sense instead of his blankety blank analytics. Without consistency the younger players will never develop. By constantly changing the lineup because of lefty righty pitching matchups the younger players will never develop. By constantly pinch hitting for younger players in scoring situations the younger players will never develop. By pulling pitchers after 4-5 innings after 60-70 pitches and 0-2 runs you will never develop a decent pitching staff. Sorry but Baldelli is the biggest obstacle to a 90 win season.

I question those who believe Wallner/ Larnach/ Miranda aren’t good hitters. It seems every time them come to the plate in an important situation Baldelli pinch hits for them. Hard to be a good hitter when you only get two at bats per game and you only play maybe two days in a row. I would love to see what they can do if given a chance to play everyday and stay in the lineup past the 5th inning.

I would love to see what a Bonafide manager could do with the talent on this team instead of the current manager who has zero baseball sense. (but a really great computer for his analytics)

Twins Trade Candidate Breakdown: Jhoan Duran
Maybe Next Year replied to Eric Blonigen's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Gee- how did that Brusdar Gaterol trade work out? Twins got fleeced once again. Hang on to Duran! -
I mean no disrespect, however this is one poorly thought out article. This sounds like making a trade for the sake of making a trade. Do you really think trading a starting pitcher like Ryan or Ober for a 26 year old ballplayer who hasn’t been able to spend a full year in the majors for the past 3 years makes any sense? I grant you neither Ryan or Ober are Cy Young candidates but they are solid #2-3 starters. How do you intend to replace either of them? This trade makes ZERO sense.

I'm not convinced that Lewis does not want to play second base. I think the way in which the Twins threw him into the position during the season without any chance to learn, practice and get comfortable at the position was what he disliked. I thought Twins management handled it poorly.

Perhaps a manager and coaching staff that preach and teach defensive fundamentals would help.

Should the Twins Sell High on José Miranda?
Maybe Next Year replied to Matthew Lenz's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
If you go back and read my post you will see that I said future stars. I never called them stars. It’s way too soon to count out Lewis, Lee, Martin and Julien as they have all shown a lot of promise at times during their major league stint. They need more games at this level before you can call them busts, and I don’t believe any of them will be busts. Miranda had a good year and shows a lot of promise at the plate. The Twins management has done a pretty poor job trading our young players for veterans who never panned out. Why trade young talent that hasn’t fully reached their potential? Winning organizations are for the most part built from within. Time to develop our youngsters. -
Should the Twins Sell High on José Miranda?
Maybe Next Year replied to Matthew Lenz's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Enough of this nonsense. Yep, let’s trade our young future stars for a bunch of washed up has beens while we give away our future? No, it’s time to bring up the youngsters from the minor league system to fill the holes we have. Our minor league system is rated number 2 in all of baseball. Time to bring the kids up and see what they can do. Also time to get rid of an inept manager who can’t teach basics and relies on his computer and hire a manager who knows how to develop these young talented kids. -
Pohlad Family Greed Killed the 2024 Twins
Maybe Next Year replied to Cody Schoenmann's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I couldn’t agree with you more. I’m so darn sick of the “cheap” Pohlad battle cry. How about looking to the front office for all the horrible trades and washed up players they picked up. How about looking at a manager who has no baseball sense and has no idea how to develop and get the best out of his young players because he is so focused on analytics.- 65 replies

Twins 2, Orioles 7: Stick a Fork in Them
Maybe Next Year replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Funny- Cleveland's payroll is $30 million less than the Twins, Detroit's was $22 million less and KC's was $10 million less. Gee, how did they all make the playoffs with such a low payroll? This is proof it isn't just a spending issue- it's a front office and manager issue. The manager is horrible and the front office isn't much better. Time to clean house!- 134 replies

They only go 4-5 innings because of a manager that has no business being a manager.

Again, KC’s payroll is $10 million less than the Twins. I would also argue that the Twins are indeed a small market team just as the Royals are.

I’m not sure if all you Pohlad haters realize this but KC’s payroll is $10m less than the Twins and Detroits is $20 million less than the Twins. The Braves, Cubs, Giants, Blue Jays, Red Sox, Angels, White Sox, Mariners and others are all higher than the Twins payroll and none of them look like they will make the playoffs. My point is this- spending money doesn’t guarantee you anything. An efficient and capable front office and a manager who has some baseball sense instead of relying on his computer spewed analytics is just as if not more important.

My bad, in talking to some of my fellow Twins fans one of them said we were 4-12 or 4-14. I'm not saying 4-7 isn't bad but it is obviously nowhere near as bad as I was led to believe.

I can’t say for certain but I believe the Twins record in extra inning games this year is 4-14. Somebody please check me on this. In any event the Twins record in x inning games is pathetic and that falls on the manager.
