  1. How much longer do I have to watch Alcala and Julien. Neither are MLB ball players.
  2. Agree, Can't keep giving games away while he figures it out. I believe he will figure it out but put him in some less stressful situations. We have other options in the 8th. The other question I have is why can't Duran navigate the tough part of the order in the 8th and Jax or someone else the 9th? This happened las year.
  3. How about moving Festa to the bullpen when Pablo comes back. He could take some innings when SWR and Paddock go back to back with short starts. If we don't have an off day it is tough for bullpen to get back on normal rotation. Festa could possibly finish that game, get his innings in and stay on a regular rotation. I feel there is not much for both he and Mathews to prove in AAA.
  4. Time to change up the batting order. Wallner needs to be dropped to 3 or 4, How about Castro or Lee hitting leadoff?
  5. It won't take much to show he is better than the 3 mentioned above.
  6. No way Gasper should make this team. Versatility only matters if you are a MLB player not a AAAA player.
  7. Not Castro. Versatility, speed and being a switch hitter bring too much to this team that is already very confined to what they can do on a baseball field, Castro can be easily dealt at trade deadline if need be, Management needs to see which of these young players are going to produce at the MLB level. Cease plays once every 5 days. His production can not be disputed but is the difference between him and the pitcher that great to warrant giving up that much. You need to get into the playoffs first before Cease can really help your team but the team plays a game every day,
  8. Does that mean we will actually see more than 2 Twins players be able to successfully put down a bunt to score a run this season? That would be wonderful. Will our manager be willing to put that play on? That would be wonderful. That would be playing baseball not some version of slow pitch softball. I have been on the backfields in spring training a few times. The drills and the speed the drills are run at are not conducive to game speed. It would be nice to see game conditions simulated when these drills and skills are practiced.
  9. Having good starting pitching will make our bullpen better. Less innings to cover leads to better results. When we lost Paddock and Ryan we had to turn to the young guys. The results were not as good as the pitchers they replaced and they don't go as deep into games. Our bullpen was much better prior to the injuries. There was more stress put on the pen and they were not able to hold up. The healthier our starting pitching is the better our bullpen can and will be. I for one agree that our pen could be the best or top 3 in baseball this year.
  10. Thanks for the comparisons. Very interesting. I feel that the success of the Twin's season will come down to our pitching staff. For that reason I am not concerned about the FO making very few moves. The team that the Twin's would field today will be very competitive and that is about all you can ask fro a mid market team.
  11. Great article. Good to see comparisons with positive results. If we are to have a good season we will need a good starting pitching which puts less stress on the bullpen.
  12. We just need to improve the basic fundamentals of baseball. Situational hitting, bunting and better baserunning. If we do that our runs scored will increase. That coupled with our pitching and just plain good defense will win games. In my mind the current roster is adequate to good. We need coaching staff to teach and enforce the basics I listed above. You can not manage or coach this team the same way as you manage or coached the 2019 team. I hope that these fundamentals are taught and enforced in spring training every day not just on the practice fields but in every spring training game.
  13. Cleveland 2024. That is what an outstanding bullpen gets you. I would like some of that. Keep the bullpen intact and take a chance on the young players we have developed.
  14. Give me even some of these players and things would be different. A healthy Correa, Kepler, Buxton, Ryan and Stewart.
  15. Need to add Varland to bullpen ASAP. To make a run and win this division we can not give up 2 run leads in the 8th inning. Rocco needs reliable arms to go when Jax or Alcala aren't available. Winning the division is huge a 1st round bye is huge.
  16. In my mind the Twins had to sign Buxton to that extension. No matter what the next years bring I applaud the Twins for doing that contract and I am grateful for that contract. He is the quiet leader of this team and the face of the Minnesota Twins.
  17. Could they put Larnach on DL to give his turf toe time to heal completely?
  18. Agree it is all command. Velocity will increase with warmer temperatures. He has to work on command. Pitch yesterday was in a sweet spot for a left handed batter.
  19. Forget bashing Sands. Instead focus on Rocco and his decision to continually go to Okert. Let us guess what pitch is coming. Slider, slider and how about a slider in the middle of the plate. How many MLB hitters can figure that out. Inherited runners scoring at an 80% clip. Someone tell me why he is on the major league roster other than the fact we traded for him so therefore he must stay on major league roster according to our front office.
  20. Once again the Twins decision makers are afraid to put together their best bullpen. The are afraid to cut bait with their off season acquistions and instead will try to hide Jackson and Okert in low leverage situations. The more close games we play the more we will use our 5 high leverage guys wearing them down. Nobody can tell me Alcala is not head and shoulders above the above mentioned 2 pitchers especially when he pitches just 1 inning. Shame on the Twins if they are punishing Alcala. Just put the best team on the field.
  21. What made the Margot pinch hit even worse was the fact that he pinch hit for the DH. So Margot was our DH for 2 more appearances against RH pitching. Yikes!
