Arbitrary Thoughts: Bailey Ober
miller761 replied to Sherry Cerny's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
If keeping our big 3 SP will fit into the budget for next year I am all for it. I honestly think the Twins can be a plus 500 team if they are able to fill out a competitive bulpen. Every contending team in Al Central is flawed in 1 major area. Why not it be us to make the jump next year with some of the young kids getting their exposure to the big time?- 28 replies

I think it is relevant to state there is a good chance of no baseball or a shortened season in 2027. Therefore any player under control through the 2027 season may only be under control for next year. Did or does that factor in trade decisions?

Love the way the team is playing. They are playing baseball...reacting to the situation and putting their best foot forward to take advantage of the situation. There has been an increase of opposite field hits from this bunch and they are scoring runs. Not smart enough to know if the 2 are related but am sure enjoying it. I see throws that the cutoff man can cut and more throws from the outfield to correct bases. I see more aggressive nature on the bases without being reckless. I see more similarities with my home state Milwaukee Brewers minus the bullpen and we all know what they did to us in that last series in Minneapolis. Maybe the trade deadline 2025 will change Twins baseball in more ways than we first thought

This is not really relevant to this article but I see Travis Adams listed as the starting pitcher tonight. I think the fans and the front office have see enough of this man. We have nobody else to start? Why??

Dear Twins, About That Season Ticket Letter...

I have been a loyal Twins fan for over 50 years. When Carl Pohlad bought the Twins from Calvin Griffin he saved us fans from Calvin's cheap ways. Now we are looking for the new owner to save us from the Pohlad's cheap ways.- 31 replies

Did Rocco explain why Austin Martin (3 hits Friday night) is not in the lineup on Saturday? Aside from injury or illness that is inexcusable unless you do not want to give your team a chance to win

When teams don't play good sound fundamental baseball they are not good teams. What do the not so good baseball teams do at the deadline? They sell off assets that are of no value to them or won't be next year. Hopefully next year we are in the exact opposite situation.

You have to do something with these players. The next level of prospects will be ready for AAA next year. You need to have those spots open for those players to play.

Looking at their remaining schedule a 36-24 record is very possible. Will it happpen...probably not. I for one remain optimistic. If these 3 things happen I like our chances. (1) Keaschall returns shortly and is the player we saw earlier. Our offense was just so much better with his hitting and baserunning. (2) Ober returns next week and is able to retain his velocity. (3) Pablo follows suit shortly thereafter. We have a lot of division games left that we must win series and hold our own against the Yankees, Rays and Blue Jays.

Nobody is going to pay what Duran and Jax are worth. What you will receive will be similar to what you would receive next year at this same time. Prospects are just that. Nothing is for sure and these 2 are proven MLB top tier relievers with very manageable salaries. In my mind unless you are getting proven MLB talent in return why would you trade. The team is closer to contention and playoffs than it is not. Play the games for 2 weeks.

After watching Adams I would much rather see Raya in that spot in the rotation. Hopefully Mathews is back after AllStar Break.

Great 9th inning. Leadoff walk by Buck, Castro trying to hit behind the runner and then Lee with the bunt. Great baseball...more please!

Why not trade Ober if you are going to trade? 2 plus years of all star caliber pitching in Ryan is a lot to give up for prospects. That is what they are they have not proven anything at MLB level. If they fizzle out we have nothing. Besides Ryan will be need if we make the playoffs and you can't give up on that yet. Looks to be just like last year, 2 wild card teams from the Central Division.

Agree about the bullpen usage. We need a long man (Festa) in the bullpen to piggyback SWR and Paddock. Festa and Matthews have proved themselves last year and this year. Bring them both up and put one in the bullpen along with Paddock. Or put both in the pen if you keep your starting rotation the same. Our starting pitching has been great (5th in MLB lately). Let them lose the game. That would require some out of the box thinking. We the fans want to see some change cause what you are doing now is not working!

It is a bad stretch. Whatever can go wrong does. We hit the ball right at someone and they hit them where we ain't. But there is no excuse for pitchers not being able to throw to first, relief pitchers not paying attention to runners or attempting to hold them on and our 2nd baseman hitting under .200 not being able to field his position. This has to end now. Bride at 3B, Lee at 2B and Julien and Alcala in the minors. If you make mistakes repeatedly you don't belong. Someone needs to light the fire and show some urgency or you won't see anyone in the stands next week. There are minor league teams more fundamentally sound than the Twins. Roco's laid back style is not working. Light the fire or be gone!
