  1. Ah, Southern California, I get transfixed watching people in the stands. Today, the couple constantly fanning themselves with a foam glove (I think it was) in the "steamy" 78 degree air drove me to distraction. And why do young ladies in expensive seats so often spend the game, nearly the entire game, diddling on their phones...oh well, just cranky I guess due to this painful and protracted denouement. I want to believe in the 24 year-old Taj Bradley...I need to believe in the 24 year-old Taj Bradley!
  2. You saw Larnach try to score in the first inning? It's hard for me to tell when he's jogging.
  3. Yeah Patz...the famous Robert "William" Stevenson. Love it!
  4. True? I guess that makes sense with the DH starting in 1973, but wow!
  5. Or another lame stab at balls hit his way?
  6. Hmmmm, doing the math, (always a danger with me) your great grandfather might have been born near the end of Reconstruction in NC…interesting, and thanks for sharing.
  7. Man Charles, and I mean this in the best sense, that is a classic southern name-yes?
  8. They can make a radio out of a coconut, but that can't fix the boat!
  9. Football has given me some of the greatest sports pain in my life, I'm sorry to say, and you have to wait a week to feel better...if even. Actually, I haven't recovered from the phantom "roughing the passer" penalty on November 24, 1962 that cost the Gophers a national title and a trip to the Rose Bowl. So it goes...
  10. Where have all the posters gone? Long time passing. Where have all the posters gone? Long time ago. Where have the TD posters gone? Watching football everyone. Will they ever return? Will they ever return?
  11. Really? How proud the Twins must be to have ended that streak, at home and going into the 9th with a two run lead!
  12. Yeah, and not a bit of chalk on that Cuzzi call!
  13. Poor Colorado, 39-99 right now and no chance for a #1 pick! They have been awful for a long time but have drawn over 2 million fans already this season...go figure.
  14. Great game...this post-trade team is more exciting, yes? The interview-filled, "phantasmagoric" broadcast today was very hard to watch for this old timer. I can ignore the inane dugout interviews, although I hate them, but the "Beyond the Dugout" on-field interviews during play drive me to distraction. Please, make them stop! Look, I've played and watched this great game for over 65 years--I can't have too many seasons left, and all I ask is that they stop invading the sanctity of the game itself until I'm gone. Is that too much to ask? I fear that it is. Are fans really pushing for this stuff or is it the outwash of some modern media types and their desire to make their mark on the industry? The game is enough for me...please leave it alone for a few more years at least.
  15. Random enumerated thoughts with exclamation marks: 1. Nice win! 2. Nick Punto lives! 3. Welcome back Glen Perkins! 4. I miss Luis Arraez!
  16. Wow, I thought they had this. Exciting baseball again, but the Twins have too many awful arms on the roster to win in a shootout. Historical data indicates that an MLB team that scores 8 runs has an 85,6% chance of winning...but we have Cabrera as a late inning option! I hate to be an optimist in the midst of a disaster, but I do look forward to seeing Keaschall and Lee develop further next season and begin to make this their team. I also hope that the flawed owners will make some effort to assure that the Twins will be viable in '26. Now that they are no longer lame duck owners maybe they'll be interested again in improving their on-field "product." Maybe? "The hope which springs eternal in the human breast"?
  17. Thanks…so pretty easy to differentiate by an ump or robo ump?
  18. Great One, I like the 10 pitcher limit option! That would also open roster spots up fir more specialized utility players and maybe a speed merchant primarily for stolen base duty. Regarding the slider ban: might it lead to some consternation over whether a given pitch was actually a slider? I’ve never pitched and frankly other than a fastball, knuckler, or changeup, it’s hard for me to detect other pitches precisely. I mean, isn’t a slider very similar to a curve ball? And yes, I’d never want to move the mound back. Interesting thoughts…
