    Under four and more than one, at a ballgame? Man, you deserve a medal. Ever try teaching tennis to young kids? That may be a greater struggle, but not by much. I'm sure that they had a good time, and that's what counts.

    Royce has to go now...the Grand Slam Prodigy who "doesn't do slumps" is nowhere to be found. He began the game by striking out with runners on second and third and no outs--just a little contact and it's likely a run. He managed somehow to completely miss a double-play grounder hit right at him that let in the eventual winning run--and in the end he failed to come through again. Enough is enough for this fan. Send him down: if he has sufficient skill and desire he'll come back from a demotion to St. Paul and become a contributing member of the team again, and if not, well then we will be freed once and for all of the enigmatic Mr. Lewis. It is doubtful that management will send him down before the Royce Lewis jersey giveaway day on June 6 (how embarrassing if he's in the minors at the time) but I fervently hope that he's gone by June 7!

    This loss is hard to take, especially since I'm stuck here in Milwaukee, but I can't dispute the obstruction call. It probably decided the game and the runner was out before he hit Lewis's foot--but man, what a terrible spot for a professional ballplayer, at any level, to place his foot. Lewis was just asking to have that call made! That and Clemens's boneheaded base running truly hurt the team tonight...in addition to the bullpen, of course. It's a shame to waste another solid start...

    Outman raises his average 45 points in one afternoon while Lewis is 0 for 3 and soon may be hitting in the 150's! Time for a demotion or maybe a trade if anyone is interested. I keep waiting for the switch to flip on him, because he was a wunderkind when he first came up...but I'm really losing hope now. I actually think that his problems are largely psychological but I don't know where that leaves us either...hypnotism? I agree that Wallner, at 28, is probably gone forever from the Twins' lineup...sad but true. Yet, we'll always have the memories of those bombs he hit into the plaza in right!

    And then there's the Pho King Good Vietnamese restaurant in Auburn, California. Try their Pork Banh Mi if you are ever in town.

    Fingers crossed...but the Brewers will be tough and will own the allegiance of half of the crowd at least!

    He's having a great year...what an advantage it is to have a catcher who is contributing so much to the offense!

    What keeps baseball interesting for so long (nearly 70 years!) is its stunning improbabilities! Ober seemed to be on the rocks earlier in the season and tonight he pulls off an absolute gem and ends up with a complete game victory that was just two hits shy of a perfect game. He may give up 7 earned in 4 innings next time out, but no one can take this away from him! Gotta' love this game.

    I'm very happy with the win, but it's a good thing that I'm a fan of an occasional pitching duel because we just watched two teams go 11 innings while combining for 4 hits! Just when you thought you'd seen it all! Hey, Orze is starting to grow on me...I like his spunk!

    Look, I like Lewis and am always pulling for him o pull out of his frequent and extensive funks, but to me right now he's a player with a "check engine" light on. I've always suspected that his problems are mostly psychological, but whatever the case I think he could use sometime in St. Paul to help him refocus.

    I hear you about Buxton. He's a Twins' hall of fame no doubt and has been an exciting player--one of my favorites...but this year in particular I rather dread it when he comes up with RISP! And now more than ever he seems to be victimized by anything low and away with two strikes on him--he can't help waving at that junk, or so it seems.

    I'm hip about Wallner's failings this year...but when he hits 'em, he really hits 'em!

    Only charged with 2, but I get your point! I don't understand why they keep trotting him out there, although it's best to do so down 10-2 in the 8th of course. The Twins brain trust must be beguiled by the fact that he can hit 96-97 on the gun, but he's really, really bad.

    One game back of everyone in the ALC loss column...this will be a very strange season.

    Agreed...I'm not sure why he's still in the bigs. When I criticized him in the comments section of a Bobby Nightingale Startribune column, the author told me that Wallner is a valuable power hitter who can be devastating against right-handed pitchers and is an above average fielder with a strong arm. So, that's what those on the inside seem to think. As for me, I just don't see the Emperor's clothes!

    Man, those home run pitches were served up on a platter by SWR! On the bright side, Buxton is on pace for 44 home runs and we're still only 2 and one-half games back.

    Yeah, he's topping out around 91 on the FB, I think.

    In fact we are just 2 losses behind the Tigers and Guards...after all of this ineptitude the Twins are just a couple of games back. With a weak division and a potentially strong starting rotation t's a crime that ownership doesn't see fit to bring in a couple of decent relievers and make a run at this thing.     I'm increasingly disappointed by Caratini. There's a pretty big hole in the lineup when he spells Jeffers. I know one can't expect too much from a back-up catcher but I'm tired on watching him flail away at the plate, of late.

    How about packaging Lewis and Wallner for some decent relievers? A change of scenery could be good for both of them and the pen is a disaster. I think someone might take a chance on Lewis because there really is great potential trapped inside by, I believe, his psyche.
